The staff were lovely, Linzi and her daughter looked after us so well. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The new restaurant is excellent, serving Tapa’s dishes. The hotel was dog friendly and they offered dog beds, and bowls. The location of the property is central to Burford.
The hotel doesn’t have parking although we found on road parking easily enough very close by.
The restaurant menu would benefit from an English description of what the tapas dishes were but they staff were very helpful explaining it all to us.

Dogs in the breakfast area.

Cosy, pleasant staff and good food
Room was loud because of the noise from the road. Bed was creaky.

Friendly staff, good food, great location. Nice quirky hotel
Room was small but had everything you needed. The bathroom looked liked it had been flooded from a room above and had all water stains on the walls and the bathroom tiles were going mouldy. Also our room was above the kitchen and at 7am the extractor fan came on so was quite noisy.

Great location, delicious breakfast, comfortable bed, but most of all the staff were all welcoming and friendly. Thank you.

Burford Room was nice
I stayed at the highway Inn, Burford for 2 nights. My room was the Burford. The room itself was lovely, spacious, and clean.
Couple of things to think about though. It is obviously a very old Inn, and as such the floors are uneven and it has a lot of stairs up and down. The first floor is manageable if you have low level mobility issues. The floors upstairs are very uneven.
I fell once into the bathroom as there is a incline to a small step and then the step. Not sure if I tripped on the incline or the step. The reason I mention it, is only to note the uneven floors. Not much can be done, I would imagine improving that.
My stay was £371 for 2 nights including (according to the website) breakfast. What they don’t tell you until you are presented with a menu at breakfast is that this is only for continental. If you wanted anything hot it would be additional. A full English £12.00. A bacon muffin £7.00 and so on. This is not made clear on the website. The continent included coffee, toast, pan au chocolat, fruit and cereals. This was sufficient for me.
I had gone to Highway as it seemed to have good reviews on Booking.com. The rooms are fine and comfortable
My bug bare, was that there was no one to sit comfortably downstairs to read a book or paper. The ‘bar’ was in fact a restaurant which was always fully booked. Good for business, not so good if you are a resident and would like to sit and have a drink. A stool at the bar was not appropriate given that it is obviously a very popular establishment for locals.
A significant emphasis appeared to be placed on the restaurant side of the business and not the hotel. Given I had paid £173.50 (plus £12.00) per night for my room, I would have thought there would be somewhere at least to sit.
Instead, I found myself frequenting the Burford House, where I could sit in a comfy chair and sip a very nice G&T.
The staff at the Highway Inn were lovely, friendly and very welcoming but it wasn’t comfortable.
Just getting back to breakfast for a minute. The second morning, I went down to breakfast and was informed that there was no chef for hot food, nor were there any pan or croissants. I had a bowl and cereal and toast for my £12.00. Very disappointing!

Fantastic location in such a beautiful village. Really great decor, calming and relaxing.
Awful shower, almost unusable if your taller than 5’9” also no pressure In the shower just trickles out and really hard to operate. and the bath isn’t big enough to sit down in, so neither is a good option.

We loved the room, breakfasts and dinners! Great location for walkabout, in both town and country. Stumbling upon the old Roman Church in cow field was unexpected and amazing! Woolen Weavers visit is a must!

Location and friendliness of staff
No toast or croissants on offer additional coffee not offered

location and staff were brilliant
lack of parking and price paid in advance was almost double what we could have paid without an advanced booking.

Lovely, clean, comfortable. Pretty hotel with nice views. Very helpful staff. The coffee in the breakfast room wasn't that good, but not that big a deal. We'd definitely recommend it. Had a lot of the charm of an old hotel but the niceness of a new one.

Food was good for Breakfast and Dinner. I had both. The Hotel was central and easy to find. The staff were helpful and dealt with all my requests.
I liked Burford and the surrounding area. I would consider staying again. The Highway Inn was a mid range option
The wait for the food was a little slow at dinner. I think that single diners/guests eat a little faster.
Burford high street was obviously very busy with traffic (and i was there on week-days) I would by preference go to side streets like Sheep street for a quiet drink or a more tranquil location for a stay

Really central in Burford with overnight street parking right outside. Cosy atmosphere with very friendly people working here and excellent food and drink.

The location was great, hotel was nice and homely and the breakfast was great - friendly staff. Our room a twin at the top of the hotel was nice but the beams and shape of room meant there wasn't a lot of room - we felt that 2 chairs took room that could have been better used for example the fridge was in the wardrobe which meant you couldn't hang clothes up properly - the room takes a bit of getting used to as it is on a slope and we felt a bit dizzy at first but guess that comes with old buildings - the beds were comfy and shower was nice although would have liked a bath too.
no hanging space for full length items due to fridge in wardrobe, felt a bit cramped with beams and use of space TV was at an awkward angle for viewing on dressing table which meant craining neck to view better on the wall, TV was also pretty old and small.

Wonderful Manager and staff, great food, great location and lovely room!
The bed dipped in the middle quite badly.
