Clean bedroom.
I didn’t realise when I booked that it had bedrooms chalets outside. The bar wasn’t what I thought either no cosy places to relax really. Wasn’t what I was expecting I’m afraid. Sorry not our cup of tea I’m afraid. I’m a stay in the pub and have nice cosy areas to sit sort of person I’m afraid. I know what I like and what I don’t.

Full English Breakfast as much as you could eat and the meals at night were outstanding with great choice. Service overall was good.
No negatives.

Traditional popular village pub. Log fire. Room was as advertised and very clean. Complimentary tea coffee and toiletries with very comfy bed.
Excellent breakfast. Plenty of parking. in beautiful part of country for sightseeing.

Property was great. Rooms were spacious and clean and facilities good. Food was also great and staff friendly.

The rooms were very new and clean, and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We had a lovely meal in the evening in the bar. There’s also an adorable dog called George who pads around the pub/car park. It was great value for money.
The rooms were not park of the property but a separate building in the car park. There was a lot of light coming in from the car park and various flashing lights in the room which made it a little difficult to sleep.

Location near A1
The continental breakfast was poor must try a lot harder on that front. But otherwise food good

Evening meal was lovely and the staff were very friendly. Room had a lovely comfortable bed. Towels were lovely and fluffy.
Did not like the fact that we had to go outside to reach our room, this was not made clear on the booking in process. Also car park not very large and only other place would be to leave your car on the side of a narrow country road.Breakfast was ok but did not like the fact that the cold food was just sat on a table with nothing to keep it cold.

The rooms we booked were spacious and clean, and the management was really helpful in ensuring we had rooms next to each other. This was helpful as our (teenage) kids could stay in one room and us in the one next door.
The rooms were both decorated to a nice, modern standard. The beds were really comfortable.
The Woodman Inn was perfectly located for our weekend visits to Thorp Perrow, The Forbidden Corner and Aysgarth Falls.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly.
We thought our stay was good value for money, especially with breakfast being included.
The lock on one of the rooms was faulty, resulting in lots of issues opening the door. There was no hand towel in either of the bathrooms - just a small bath towel for each person.
Our son has a bad allergy to dogs, so we deliberately booked here as it specified "no pets allowed". We always have to do this when looking for accommodation as he has been hospitalised multiple times previous as a result of his dog allergy. Overnight, he had a bad allergic reaction and came out in hives, itchy eyes, sneezing, wheezing, etc. Thankfully his antihistamine medication and inhalers helped to control it. Whilst we couldn't prove that someone hadn't had dogs staying in the room previously, it did seem unusual that he had such a bad reaction and we couldn't pinpoint anything else it might have been. I have since checked reviews on Booking.com and have seen that other reviewers have said the rooms were dog friendly. I would advise the owners urgently rectify the error on Booking.com as our son really struggled to cope.
Attention to detail during our evening meal and breakfast wasn't great, sadly. During the meal, ordered drinks were missed/incorrect. Errors were made on the table next to us as well, so our experience wasn't isolated. At the end of the meal, we asked for the bill but after 10 minutes it still hadn't arrived so I went to the bar and paid as we were leaving.
The quality of the breakfast itself was good, but we could only order eggs cooked one way (I wanted scrambled but was told I couldn't). My wife got given white toast instead of the brown toast she ordered, drinks of water we asked for never arrived. Ketchup is a cheap version, decanted into old Heinz Tomato Ketchup bottles.
Better attention to detail with service would have improved our experience significantly.

Absolutely fantastic place. The room was well presented and cleanliness was excellent. We have a meal in the pub and the food and service were fabulous. Nothing at all negative to say and could highly recommend.
Nothing not to like at all, great hosts food and establishment. Far better than some of the 5 star hotels recently stayed in!! The only shame was we couldn't sample the breakfast as the food had been so fantastic the evening before, but unfortunately breakfast wasn't available at 5.30 am!!

The staff were very very helpful and cheerful.
Nothing was too much trouble.
The breakfast service felt a little rushed and out of sync. Staff seemed stressed.
Open tomato ketchup and brown sauce bottles could have been replaced with something more in keeping with a plated meal.

Comfortable bed & great breakfast.
Housekeeping had omitted to empty the bathroom bin of the previous occupant's contents.

Food ,evening meal was amazing,Great chef, willing to push the boundaries,Ted unsure of this maybe, but combined great job.
Thought the towels, coffee ,tea milk etc would have been replaced daily,no issues with the bed not being made,3 day stay ,we are adults ,Coffee ,tea milk etc asked for and collected at the bar,no problem, but the extra touches / basics ? Would have made the review a 5 star.

Clean, friendly staff and locals, great value food locally sourced. The locals music night was a nice bonus.
Breakfast started too late for a business traveller, 09.00 at weekends is ok but in the week it should be from 07.00/07.30

The bedroom was superb - large and very well equipped. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The place is in avery good location for visiting many of the gardens in the locality. Overall it has avery good atmosphere and is a well run establishment.
Breakfast earlier than 9.00 would have been helpful
