About this house rental
Located in the hills of West Marin County, this home overlooks water, wetlands and the quaint town of Point Reyes Station, while surrounded by the tranquility of organic farming, miles of scenic Northern California hiking trails, kayaking, bird-watching, and oyster farms.
This refuge from the world was designed by Robert Swatt of Swatt | Miers Architects has won numerous design awards, recognition in architecture publications and because of its design and privacy, continues to be a sought after site for commercials and photo shoots. Cadillac, BMW, Acura, Behr Paint, and Restoration Hardware, to name a few, have all used this home in their advertising.
Minutes to the Point Reyes National Seashore Beaches, Amazing Hiking and Wildlife you are also a day trip to San Francisco & Wine Country. San Francisco is an easy trek over the Golden Gate bridge, or by Larkspur Ferry across the Bay.
For the Thalassophile, there are beaches, surfing, ocean kayaking, sea cave explorations, and of course, Humpback, Gray Whale and Great White migrations. The Gray Whale migrations are southbound in January and northbound with their calves in late March / April. The Great White Shark finding expeditions to the Greater Farallon National Marine Sanctuary take place in Sept. / Oct. Often you can see the whales from the beach. Additionally, the Tomales Bay Bioluminescence kayak trips are in spring and fall and water activity rentals are to be found in town. However, you can find your beach bag here ready to go.
If Wine is your passion, spend your days tasting and touring the wineries of Sonoma, Russian River, Dry Creek, and Napa to name a few, also about an hour or so away.
Some of the other fun places to experience while here...
Tahoe skiing is 4 hours away.
Yosemite hiking is 4 hours (But no need to travel too far, hiking the local National Seashore is fantastic, and draws people from all over the world).
Once you have your wine, or are famished from a day of hiking and/ or beach fun, cooking in the gourmet kitchen is a joy. The view from the kitchen is magnificent, stocked with quality home / commercial equipment, and the wonderful farmer's market goods, anyone will feel like a chef. If you can't get enough of outdoor activities and cooking & dining "al fresco" is to your taste, there is a commercial gas grill and ample seating on the patio.
Better yet, just grab a glass of wine and relax on the patio and watch the sunset reflect on the water below.
At the end of the day, too exhausted from hiking, beach or wine to continue, or, just want to curl-up with a good book, you have a choice of two bedrooms.
The master bedroom has a comfy latex California King mattress with quality linens. The master bath has a separate shower & soaking tub, with a towel warmer, bidet and double sinks, also with quality bath linens. The Spa / Hot tub is off the master bedroom patio, but also accessible to the other rooms.
The second bedroom has a comfortable queen size bed, quality linens and en suite bathroom with shower. And it's own patio.
There is a additional half-bath downstairs.
This home has reliable wireless service throughout the house.
There are no pets allowed in the home, but no doubt you will have a chance to view the numerous "wildlife pets" who make their home in the forest or hills surrounding this home.
A Note from our most recent guests- December 2019 (the review came in late):
“Architectural Gem”
"Everything about this house is as close to perfection as possible. The decor is simple yet elegant, the property secluded and private. The home’s front wall of windows offers nonstop views of Tomales Bay and the surrounding hills to the east. Every morning we sat at the small kitchen table and watched the fog move about until it disappeared and in the evenings the sky turn from dusk to dark. The soaking tub in the master bath was much appreciated after a day hiking some of the park’s trails. Excellent restaurants are nearby but the gourmet kitchen had whatever we needed when we decided to eat in. We would love to come back again."

Absolutely beautiful modern house with every possible amenity and spectacular views. We would stay here again in a heartbeat! Minutes from beautiful hiking in Pt Reyes National Seashore, fresh oysters of Tomales Bay; 45 minutes from San Francisco. Most well-stocked kitchen we've ever seen, excellent bedding, generous hot tub, great fire pit, excellent outdoor grill, comfortable outdoor furniture -- I can't think of a single thing missing. Five stars, would give six if we could!

The stunning contemporary architecture of the house, its siting and spectacular views through every opening, made this a very special vacation stay. The house has every amenity, and the host was very gracious and helpful.
My friend and I highly recommend this property.

I would give this home one hundred stars if I could. Stacy’s home is truly a ‘spectacular getaway’ - It is clear that no expense was spared in creating and appointing this world-class architectural gem where quality is infused throughout. This is a dream spot for anyone who is into architecture and/or interior design. As a scientist who conducted her postdoctoral studies at the Salk Institute, I came to appreciate the work of Louis Kahn. I see and feel several parallels between Louis Kahn’s creative genius and the work of Robert Swatt on the design of this home (particularly in the play of light). A tremendous amount of thought went into the interior and exterior lighting, which can be adjusted to accommodate any mood. We spent most of the time enjoying the views of Tomales Bay from the patio around the fire ring. If you enjoy preparing your own meals, this is definitely the place for you! The spacious and professionally-appointed kitchen and the patio offer some of the best views the property has to offer, although you may enjoy spectacular views from virtually every point in the home. This is a ‘must’ stay for enjoying the beauty of Tomales Bay and the Point Reyes National Seashore!

This is our second stay and simply put, there is no better rental on the bay…it sits up high and the views are incredible. The patio is so comfortable and offers vistas like no other. Stacy is attentive to everything and always available to help with answers if we have any questions. The property is well located in the Pt. Ryes area, never a worry over nothing to do! Highly, highly recommend.

In addition to what you see in the amazing photos and reviews, this house offers incredible silence. You won’t hear any road noise; the radiant heat means you won’t hear an HVAC system. You only hear the wildlife on occasion. A great place for solitude and rest in a beautiful part of Marin County

We loved the house’s modern look and the great outdoors and cooking/kitchen facilities. Lots of birds and fantastic views of Tómales Bay made for a perfect getaway.

Martha Stewart could not have done a better job ensuring that guests have everything and every comfort they could want. Heated tile bathroom floors, choice of 3 bath salts to use when enjoying the soaking tub, outdoor hot tub with view, etc… House itself is gorgeous. Beautiful water views. Great privacy. Uber quiet at night, peaceful during the day. Chef’s kitchen is professionally appointed with all that you need to cook with/for friends. Minutes to Pt. Reyes Station (restaurants, general store, Saturday Farmers Market, etc… ) Owner is so attentive and responds promptly when texted. We sincerely look forward to returning as often as time allows.

This is an architectural masterpiece, privately situated with fabulous water and forest views. It is beautifully furnished and incredibly well stocked. The owner was totally responsive and helpful. One of the best rental properties ever!

This is an amazing home in a beautiful and serene location. Soaking in the hot tub every night after dinner was heaven. A good thing to know if not familiar with the area is the market in Point Reyes Station has everything needed and is a short drive from the house. We cooked every meal in the well stocked kitchen instead of going out to eat and we loved the kitchen setup and supplies. One evening we ate dinner around the fire pit while a beautiful deer laid on the hill right below us. I can’t wait to spend time here again in the future.

Lovely home. Beautiful views. Many items of beauty in home, clearly a personal residence, excellent kitchen and deck for cooking and eating.
One suggestion - Outside of building needs minor cleaning eg grill well used and needed a scrub
Landlord attentive and responded quickly to questions and requests
This is an ideal place for a couple wanting to get away
Not for a larger group or people with pets and children
Expensive
My wife and I loved it and would rent it againI

Excellent VRBO
This property is perfectly located and beautifully appointed. Fully equipped kitchen with quality appliances, tableware, cookware, bakeware, etc. Spacious rooms, several patios from which there are stunning views. Definitely a VRBO to stay at in the Point Reyes area.

Amazing retreat
Very peaceful retreat. It had the quiet and solitude we were looking for. Amazing views. Beautiful surroundings. Close enough to San Francisco that we were able to make a few trips there. Property is well cared for and well-stocked. It had everything we wanted.

My second time here
I stayed here a year ago and it's just as lovely as I remembered. I explored hiking trails I hadn't tried last year, and especially enjoyed the hike through the Tule Elk Reserve out to Tomales Point. If you are looking for somewhere to relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings, this is the place.

AMAZING! Definitely 5 stars
Had a truly wonderful stay at this house. Location is amazing, views, the house itself, outdoor firepit, indoor fireplace, everything. Would love to stay again for a relaxing weekend where you truly don't need to go anywhere for a wonderful time!

Beautiful House - Great Location
We stayed over New Year's to celebrate with some long-time family friends. The house is amazing and provides easy access to Point Reyes National Seashore. We also enjoyed the incredible view of Tamales Bay, watching the dramatic changes between high and low tide.

Pristine Inverness Home
This exquisite modern house in Inverness was one of our favorite VRBO homes. Right from the start Stacy was lovely and helpful and just a joy to deal with. Her home offered an incredible get away.
While visiting we celebrated Thanksgiving as a family and from the time we pulled up until the time we left we could not have had a more beautiful time.
The obvious architectural beauty of this home did not disappoint once getting inside. The home is cozy, sparkling clean, bright, well decorated and inviting. The views are to die for! I am not a morning person but I found myself excited to get up early every day to do yoga outside while watching the incredible sun rises over the mountains and water. What a perfect way to start each day! The sunsets did not disappoint either. Watching the moon come up over elephant mountain and witness more stars than you could imagine in the night sky was like living in a dream!
Everything about this house is wonderful. The kitchen was incredibly well stocked! I wanted for absolutely nothing during the six total meals that I made including Thanksgiving dinner! Stacy’s kitchen had every single thing I could have possibly needed. Might I also mention that the appliances are all top-of-the-line to add to this incredible chef’s kitchen.
Additionally, both bedrooms are incredibly comfortable with cozy pillows, linens and soft warm blankets/bed coverings. The master bath was one of the most beautiful I have seen. The deep soaking tub with complementary bath salts and a gorgeous view of the mountains was so luxurious!
The home’s fireplace and soundsystem also added to the ambience while playing games or just talking and catching up with family. We even were able to listen to some music outside while eating lunch at the beautiful outdoor table surrounded by the incredible views. I cannot recommend this house more highly!
It’s a little bit off the beaten path but so well worth it. The local market and restaurants are also just wonderful and the people could not of been more inviting. Stacy thank you so much for sharing your incredible home with us. We could not have been more pleased with our stay and found it an honor to be able to have spent 4 nights and our treasured Thanksgiving there!

Architectural Digest Getaway
We live in SF, and Inverness is our favorite local getaway. We've stayed at many Inverness cabins and houses, and this one is the fanciest. Some highlights:
Private Location
The property is spacious and completely private, with a fruit orchard and hot tub. Yet, it's a short drive from restaurants and supplies in Pt Reyes Station and over a dozen trailheads in the park
Unbelievably perfect kitchen
We've stayed in over 100 properties around the world, yet never cooked in a more delightful kitchen. Everything is ready for you, including SHARP KNIVES, excellent cookware, and all the basic cooking accompaniments. In addition to a spectacular indoor kitchen, there's a full outdoor kitchen with a panoramic view of Tomales Bay. If your holiday dream involves cooking, the kitchen alone is worth the rate.
Peace and Quiet
The house is solidly built. There are two bedrooms. and from the bedrooms you'll never hear more than the birdsong from your open windows on your private patio
Nature
We spent much of the day reading lazily, interrupted only by the regular stream of deer, foxes, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, and other passing birds.
Care
Stacy was a perfect host, checking in on us and providing advice without ever being obtrusive
Downsides
The house is designed to help you avoid tracking the outside in, but if there's any downside it's only that it is so luxurious. The living room couches are exquisite white Italian leather. This isn't a rustic Pt Reyes retreat for letting one's hair down and dirt in. This is a great spot for a few discerning adults who want high urbanity in a natural setting.

Awesome!
This "glass" house is an architectural wonder, down to every detail. And, as a bonus, it is situated on top of a hill overlooking Tomales Bay with views out every window. We enjoyed four fabulous days (very lucky with the weather) exploring Inverness and its surrounds, but also just hanging out at the house luxuriating in its comforts. The host was extremely responsive to our questions. We will definitely be back!!!!

Amazing, beautiful, worth every penny
This home is gorgeous and beautifully situated. Awesome views of Tomales Bay and a pretty backyard forest. Just minutes from Point Reyes Station and centrally located for beach hikes, inland hikes, kayaking and everything else Northern California has to offer. The opportunity to view wildlife mentioned in the listing is not exaggerated. We saw deer, fox, quail, and lots of hummingbirds. The home itself is tastefully decorated and the kitchen has every appliance and gadget you could ever need. The owner was incredibly responsive and dealt very quickly and professionally with one minor issue we encountered on arrival. Truly top notch and we would love to stay here again.

Heaven in Inverness
The house is absolutely gorgeous with a beautiful view looking out over the Tomales Bay estuary. Quiet street on a hill, which is steep driving up. The terrace is lovely. Very well equipped home for cooking, if desired. Nice jacuzzi tub under trees. Stacy was extremely gracious and helpful with check-in details provided one week in advance and other questions answered. You will not regret staying in her Pt. Reyes architectural gem.

A wonderful stay in an idyllic property
The house has majestic views of Tomales Bay, which complement its sleek and modern interior. Long lunches on the patio were facilitated by the gourmet kitchen and many available supplies. Our host was very responsive. Overall, an outstanding stay in a beautiful house.

Absolute paradise in Point Reyes!
I initially chose this property because of the location and design. But during our stay I fell in love with the community, the people, and this unbelievable house. I usually always search out nice properties when traveling but, this is likely the finest properties I have ever rented! Beautiful location, killer views, unbelievable amenities, and a very gracious owner put it on the top of the list. The pictures simply do not do this property justice! Almost every night was spent cooking in the amazing kitchen and eating outside watching the deer graze and the hummingbirds zoom by! There is not a single thing we needed that this property did not have. The owner was so accommodating and provided great ideas on where to go and what to see. The question is not are we coming back but when! Total 5 stars!

A gorgeous home in a beautiful peaceful setting
This house is an architectural jewel. It is in a convenient location for visiting Point Reyes National Seashore and Tomales Bay State Park, but there is also abundant beauty to be experienced while relaxing on the terrace, which is frequented by a wide variety of birds and wildlife. The owner is welcoming and extremely helpful and responsive. I hope to return soon.

Tranquil Restoration
Having started our search too late for a 30th wedding anniversary/post-COVID escape, we lucked into Stacy's place thanks to pure scheduling serendipity. We are so grateful we did. Everything about Stacy's place was amazing and the pictures, while highly accurate, can't do justice to the tranquility we felt waking each morning to the sunrise over the wetlands and the meandering fingers of Tomales Bay below. Stacy's home leaves you wanting for little, and while the eating and hiking in the area are all wonderful, we were more often too tempted by the pure bliss of sitting out on the deck and taking in the surroundings. We had a wonderfully memorable and relaxing trip and left completely restored and recharged. Thanks Stacy for having us; we hope to have a chance to return to your amazing home and this beautiful place in the not too distant future. All best.

Wonderful property- absolutely stunning views in remarkable home in a central Pt Reyes location with an unbelievably appointed kitchen and a gracious and thoughtful host. A quick 5-10 min drive from Pt Reyes Station but feel far away. House seemingly half glass with incredible views and modern though comfortable feel. Kitchen stocked with great pantry and cooking items more than my own home, and I cook a lot. Thoughtful outdoor items to use with recommendations for eats and hikes and beaches. A really fantastic location to explore Pt Reyes and the surround area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay for many reasons; the lovely architecture and design, well stocked kitchen, views, wildlife and easy access to hiking trailheads. Jacuzzi was wonderful as was the heated bathroom floor in master bath. Would definitely stay here again.

The architecture is spectacular and the setting is awe inspiring. The interior decor is lovely, but I could have imagined it being a little more in line with the modernism of the structure. I spoke with the owner about creating a more comfortable seating experience in the living area and she was already working on it. Overall, it was a fantastic experience.

Perfect get away
Stunning house with amazing views. If you like to cook you will love the kitchen. Fantastic outdoor spaces including a very private hot tub. Many great hikes close by. Stacy the owner was readily available for questions at a moments notice. A perfect get away!

We felt like privileged guests at this gorgeous home and enjoyed our best family time of the long Covid period. From early morning coffee on the deck, to runs on the beaches and hikes in Pt Reyes National Seashore, to soaking in the hot tub under a full moon, our time was magical. My teenage boys were off their screens, reveling in natural beauty and playing hours of chess with Stacy’s lovely set. I have never stayed at a VRBO with such a fantastic kitchen: well-stocked is an understatement. I cooked a full Thanksgiving feast (which we enjoyed outside, marveling at the beauty of Tómales Bay) as if I were in my own home. The house was pristinely clean and Stacy was delightful and helpful. This was, without a doubt, the best VRBO experience we’ve had in many years of travel with our kids and with extended family. We feel so lucky to have stayed at a home of architectural distinction, filled with lovely art, in alocation. I wish I could give this property 10 stars.
