Lovely very quirky house. Absolutely ideal for a family holiday with a mixture of ages. Lovely garden with beautiful views and full of activities for the whole family to enjoy. Very close to many outdoor and indoor activities so even the weather couldn’t spoil the holiday. Highly recommend this property.

We were a group of 7 adults and 4 children (8 months to 8 years.) We had a lovely stay in this beautiful, quirky house.
There are loads of easy day trips and we were happy to just chill out in the garden at the house.
There was plenty of space and the beds (including the campbeds) were all comfortable.
Amanda was responsive to emails and when we needed to phone her.
We would love to return!

First of all I want to state that we've stayed in over 50 vacation rentals from various sites, never have I stayed in a place as bad as this, and have also never left a bad review before.
Pros:
- Location
- Large house
- Tennis court was fun
- Comfy beds
Cons:
- Upon arrival I spent 30 minutes looking for the key, it was behind a door which was so hard to open I thought it was locked.
- Once I arrived inside the house it was stone cold - 9 degress celcius (48 degress fahrenheit). Before arrival I had requested a warm house, and the owner had replied to say they had control over the heating remotely. At 9 degrees inside the house was not inhabitable! I have 2 young children, the house was in no state to stay in upon check-in. I contacted the owner who did not have any solutions to the problem to get the house heated up quickly. Then she passed me on to Vrbo to resolve this. They suggested the owner may give the first night free as this was completely unacceptable, however the owner refused this. She offered a full refund if we left, where else could we go as it was already early evening?! We felt that the owner gave up all responsibilty and wouldn't help us. How did this happen when they claim to have remote control of the heating and could see the temperature inside the house?!
- It later became apparent that the owner did have remote control over the heating, as when we turned it up, they turned it down.
- The house was damp inside and smelt bad. 2 of the bedrooms smelt so badly of damp they were very unpleasant to be in.
- Two of the bedrooms doors upstairs didn't close and looked like they hadn't done for a long time.
- All 3 toilet seats were very loose, one to the point of being unusable.
- The house was very poorly maintained for a rental, with peeling wallpaper and damaged floors.
- The curtains in the oast were falling off the rail.
- There was constant dog barking noise from next door, into the night on some occasions. I know this is not the owners fault, but I feel it would be helpful for other renters to know.
- There was no shampoo or body wash provided, so the first morning I had to get up early and go to the store. It was inconvenient for people travelling from overseas.
- The washing machine did not spin, so it took 3 days for my washing to dry.
- The dishwasher was tiny for the size of the house
- The one and only TV was not a smart TV

Took a group of 8 friends to stay at the house. Kitchen, dining room and lounge all suitable for that number.
Beds very comfortable & plenty of linen & towels provided.
Great outdoor area - would be even better in the summer with the large front garden, BBQ and tennis court.
Communication with the host excellent.
Happy to recommend this house.

Lovely relaxing break
Our favourite things were playing tennis (badly!) for the first time in years and playing games around the nice big dining table. We were very comfortable and it was nice eating outdoors with a very pretty view including next door's alpacas! Amanda is really lovely to deal with and I'm happy to have found her property for our break.

Fantastic place with a lovely owner!
Amanda was super helpful the whole way through booking to us arriving, etc. The house is stunning and in a fantastic location. There were 11 of us and we didn't feel too cramped -we spent most of our time outdoors. Great place for dogs (slightly busy road but you can close the gate and lots of outdoor space for doggies to run around) Would recommend it to my friends and would love to come back to explore more of the area. Thanks again Amanda!

a beautiful spacious house
thank you Amanda for this nice holiday we had at your property.
you were very helpful, with any query we had...
the house was nice and clean, everything we expected was provided! plenty of towels and bedding!
the kitchen is practical, though, a little tired...
A couple more keys to lock bedroom or bathroom/toilet doors would be useful...
The gardens are wonderful - especially with the nice weather we had during our stay, and so were the figs on the tree...
all in all we had a very enjoyable break, without being ripped off - like most uk properties charge.
a wonderful location for a relaxing holiday,
michael

Lovely stay in a beautiful home
Our extended family had a wonderful weekend at this lovely property. The house was clean and ready for us to occupy and relax as soon as we got there. We were let down by the weather a little bit, but managed to take full advantage and used the tennis courts, trampoline and BBQ during our stay, which were all such a treat. The owners have been careful to ensure everything you might need is available, the welcome pack was such a treat. A good selection of games for the children and a TV to relax on a chilly summers' night! Comfy beds, spacious rooms, beautiful location - we also visited Bewl Water and Scotney Castle which are within easy reach of the house. The house slept 7 of us comfortably but we noted that there were camp beds should more need to stay, it wouldn't make the house cramped as there is plenty of room. I would recommend this house to people wanting to have a base to visit the local area, but no need to go out should you just want a get away from it all holiday. Thank you Amanda for making our stay so pleasurable - sorry it's taken so long to review!
