Liverpool is a lovely city, I picked the wrong place to stay.
The location was good, within commuting distance of where I needed to be. But then again, everywhere in Liverpool has good public transport connections.
Everything else was bad. Before arrival, my payment could not be collected through no fault of mine, I gave the property the right card payment details repeatedly, but they couldn't collect payment and kept spamming me with mails asking for card details and payment, it was very stressful. I finally had to do a transfer outside of booking.com's protection otherwise I would have been stranded in Liverpool. On arrival, the room I was allocated - room 5, had a very hard mattress and it smelled really bad, of dry rot, wet rot and something else on the carpet that I couldn't quite pin point, the smell was so strong that I couldn't subdue it with air freshener that I brought with me. The room was draughty and the heating didn't work all through the night even though I turned it on as described by the remote house manager. I have very well managed asthma, but the smell in that room triggered an episode of difficulty breathing in the few hours I spent there, I literally couldn't sleep all through the night. The shared bathroom was not neat either, in short, I was very happy to check out ahead of checkout time the next day. I checked out before 11am on Sunday and it took the property four(4) days to refund my £50 deposit and I had to contact them asking for it.

Dont even consider it!
The location.
Where to start? Perhaps the part when I got back from a party at 1.30 am last night and had to wake up a fellow guest to let me in. The same guest that I had met on the doorstep together with her mother yesterday afternoon who explained to me that they had been waiting an hour on the street because they couldn't access the building on account of the keypad on the front door not working. Designed to attract unsuspecting tourists seduced by the Beatles theme, this place is an absolute disgrace. The bathroom is to be shared between 5 bedrooms, potentially 10 guests. In the 2 nights I stayed at the property nobody came in to clean it. It is narrow with the fixtures literally falling off the walls and the shower head has no other place to go than with the grime which has collected where the tiles meet the bathtub because the shower head holder is the wrong size. Along the corridor on the groundfloor with the wallpaper hanging on defying gravity the kitchen was almost a pleasant surpise. That was until I opened the cupboard allotted to my bedroom number 1. There I was confronted with a plate with dried leftovers stuck to it. Stomach churning! To get back into your room you will have to remember the 6 character code. Forget it outside office hours and you will spend the night on the armchair! In short, dont touch this place. And owners, when you read this review, please react. A joint like this only serves to give British tourism a terrible reputation.

Avoid
I liked the fact the backyard was used in the free as a bird video and right on penny lane
The bathroom was rank. I used toilet in the pub. The boy that lives there smelled badly of BO that stank the hallway out. He even asked me if I could give him £5 out of the blue. The front door didn't work so had to wake the place up to get in. Milk I left in the fridge disappeared. We actually left a day early and found a better place. I needed a decent bath. This place needs a new sitting tenant who can look after the place because it could be such a fantastic place.

Good location, however not clean at all ! It made me uncomfortable
The host was responsive , it was close a bus stop that takes you to the city
First thing when arriving - the whole place smelled strange and when I entered my room it didn’t smell there very good either. Not sure where the smell was coming from - perhaps the carpet. The shared bathroom would have been ok if it had been clean. Really appealing state of the bathtub , very dirty , I could smell urine in the bathroom and there was hair caught up in the shower head and hair in he sink and bathtub . Spider webs hanging from the door. Then just as I was going to lay in my bed I noticed hair all over the bedsheet - this made me feel super uncomfortable…. This is really unacceptable…. The kitchen- also not clean at all …….

The place was cosy clean and tidy with most needs met. Maybe a little run down but convenient and very comfortable
We liked the fact that we were the only people staying there so we didn’t need to share the bathroom with anyone else!
Apart from no tea towel and a shortage of cutlery there was nothing we didn’t like
