The hotel is in an excellent location for the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. On arriving early on the day of arrival we were made to feel very welcome and advised by Reception that we could park in the Hotel free of charge before check in and they even offered us a free hot drink as breakfast was still going on that morning.
Check in was very smooth and the room was good. Just a couple of niggles that the TV signal kept going on and off and the fridge wasn't working but nothing very much to put us off to that degree.
Breakfast was very good and staff were very attentive.
However unfortunately the check out experience wasn't so good as additional service charges were tried to be applied. We queried these as it clearly says on the Hotel.com booking that the service charges are included, and as such they were then taken off.
So, on the whole we did enjoy it but the 'extra' service charges issues did take the shine off it a bit which was a shame.

Lovely hotel with polite and helpful staff. My biggest issue is the addition of “discretionary” service charges. While I understand tipping protocols, adding 5% to the room rate makes me cross and barely manages to scrape through the legal threshold of price transparency. I stay in Stratford upon Avon multiple times per year. This is the only hotel I have experienced this at and it will certainly discourage me from returning

Not as comfortable as expected. the bed was not the comfiest. The furniture was bland. Bedroom windows were broken , the sash did not stay open. The continental breakfast was very basic. Only one kind of bread and pastry. The pastry was cold , no meat or cheeses.
It was an okay stay but not as good value as some other four star hotels in the same area.

Lovely warm hotel, well situated for shops, restaurants and the theatre.

This hotel is a very good choice for a Stratford stay. Attractively presented, good food and courteous staff.Located absolutely centrally for river walks, theatre, shops and free secure parking

We had a wonderful stay at The Arden. Reception were friendly and helped with our bags. The room was amazing. We booked a Delux room and stayed in 'Pine'. We travelled with our little girl and she had her own bed in the room. There was plenty of room for the extra bed.
Our bed was huge and very comfortable! The bathroom was amazing, I have never seen such a big bath!!
We booked breakfast and dinner and I'm so pleased ww did. The food was outstanding! I am gluten free and they took great care over each meal. There were great choices for our little girl and she enjoyed the food too.
Loads of choices for breakfast.
I highly recommend staying here.

A warm welcome from the friendliest receptionist (sorry we didn’t get her name). She looked after our bags while we had a delicious lunch in the brasserie.
Our room was lovely - clean and spacious with a lovely bottle of wine. Toiletries in the bathroom were lovely quality although from an eco point of view a shame to see so much single use plastic.
Breakfast was really good with a wide choice of fruits/cereals and pastries and a choice of hot food made to order.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay enhanced by every single member of staff being so warm and friendly. We will definitely stay with you again when we return to Stratford upon Avon.

Decent hotel in great location. Finding room can be a little confusing, and pillows definitely need upgrading - apart from that it was a good 1 night stay

Friendly and very helpful staff. We had a great room - clean, comfortable and good amenities. Very helpful with a young baby.

The customer service was spot on from start to finish. We stayed 2 nights on a last minute getaway and the hotel didnt disappoint. We went away for a little break after our engagement. The hotel left a little plate with a treat on wishing us "Congratulations" which was a really nice touch. The cleanliness of the room and hotel overall was really good. The only thing that was to fault was the amenities holder in the shower was broken and the shower waste was slightly discoloured. Those are the only things. The rooms are really spacious, the bed was massive. Overall, we would absolutely stay here again and even thinking of booking a stay as a gift for relatives. Thank you

Lovely hotel and service.

The Arden is a very comfortable hotel, conveniently situated just across the road from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and the Swan, and a two-minute walk from the Other Place. The staff were very welcoming and extremely helpful, going out of their way to meet our needs.
The ground floor rooms are a bit dark, and the lighting is not ideal. Some of the carpets could do with a refresh.

consistent quality over the years we return on a regular basis

Stayed 1 night for our anniversary. Fantastic staff & service. Lovely room, quiet & lots of space. Food quality excellent too.

Other than difficulty finding the parking lot for the hotel, everything else was wonderful.

Great place to stay for the theatre. Even tho there was a big wedding staff did best to make us welcome and comfortable and explain what was different. Spacious room and bathroom, good extras and a nice welcome bottle of wine (from Expedia/Hotels.com). Breakfast very comfortable and good selection, well cooked and prepared. Overall very good indeed.

Lovely hotel opposite the RSC
Nice rooms and good food, what more do you want .

Sadly not as good as it used to be. Reception on arrival was excellent, and the room was spacious and well appointed except for a couple of stains on carpet. Dinner was excellent, and the staff were friendly but professional. Bed was ace but pillows were very soft. Breakfast was sadly, only average, a far cry from what it used to be ! Reception on leaving was unpleasant and ill mannered, I've stayed here a lot but I don't think i'll be back.

Very nice hotel in the perfect location. Plenty of parking space which is always fantastic. We stayed 1 night as a family. The hotel is very comfortable for a short stay. The check in and welcome was met with very friendly smiley staff. Our room was fine with enough space for the 3 of us. The bed was comfy and we slept well. We had drinks in the late evening with the Negroni being one of the best one’s i’ve ever had, ended having two!! There were no pizzas when we tried to order room service around 11pm which was a bit disappointing so we settled for sandwiches/cheese platter/grapes/crackers/salad which was fine. The rooms are key entry, where I think card entry would be better. Would happily stay again. Stratford Upon Avon is a beautiful little town and obviously all things Shakespeare are quite incredible. Would happily recommend this place.

Lovely property in an utterly brilliant location.
Some aspects of our room were a bit disappointing. It looked a bit tired in places
Breakfast was also disappointing. We had a lovely brunch at Yorks in town instead on the second day. But we’d be back to the hotel based purely on location and the fact it was clean and staff welcoming and helpful

Lovely extra touch of a bottle of champagne and a card on the room as it was our anniversary.

August 3-5, 2024. Temperature: very warm and no rain! We just adored this town and the hotel! I was disappointed that there was no Lift, but it worked! We loved our room, the workers, and how RSC was across from us! We very much enjoyed our visit, and if we ever came back, we will use this hotel again! We loved Allie who worked the front desk! She recommended Loxley Restaurant for dinner, and it was excellent!

A return visit to Stratford staying in the Arden and going to see a play in RSC. The hotel is well located with parking. The staff are very professional and welcoming and the hotel itself is very good but could not help but think that parts are beginning to look a bit 'tired' and the breakfast food not as good as previously.

Lovely outside area. Large bedroom with plenty of bathroom space. Breakfast was
average, I wouldn’t include it next time we stay as plenty of lovely places to eat on your doorstep. We would stay again.

First rate hotel in an ideal location for the RSC Swan Theatre and other attractions of Stratford-upon-Avon. Staff were extremely attentive and helpful. Deluxe room was very comfortable and well provisioned. Restaurant dining also excellent. Parking seemed ample and convenient, and although charged was very reasonable compared with other hotels we have stayed in. Would definitely recommend and stay here again next time we visit Stratford.

Great location and staff, tidy rooms with plenty of space

Very friendly staff.
The room itself was really lovely.
Marked down 1 star as property does not have a lift. However the staff are very accommodating with carrying your luggage to your room.
Also, non feather bedding is preferable for both ethical reasons and comfort.

Nice hotel staff pleasant difficult to find rooms up and down stairs old building so understandable however not good if mobility an issue. Room lovely but no full length mirror. Pleasant restaurant are but not really a bar area.

A lovely hotel right in the centre off Stratford. The staff were very friendly, room very comfortable. I would definitely recommend.

The Arden Hotel is great and the perfect place to stay to go to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre just across the street.
2.0
A very well placed hotel for the theatre and the river. The staff were friendly and efficient. We felt that the hotel could do with some refurbishment especially the carpets. Being faced with a service charge at check out is putting you in an awkward position. Should explain that there is a charge for a newspaper.
5.0
Perfect location if attending Royal Shakespeare Company performance or just wandering the lovely town.
2.5
Excellent hotel perfectly situated. Couldn't fault anything.

Our stay was perfect from start to finish. Wonderful staff and a hidden gem we often overlooked the many years we have been coming to Stratford upon Avon. I think we have found our new local, would definitely stay again.
5.0
A perfect hotel for seeing a performance at RSC which was just yards away.
The room was beautifully presented, the bed comfortable and the staff delightful. We will definitely return.
4.0
A very old property which needs some very much needed maintenance. The first room we were offered had the bathroom sink nearly hanging off the wall, and the upgraded room had a bath which was unusable because the waste had fallen off the side of the very deep bath. We felt that the gardens needed some care and attention as they could be really lovely. The cooked to order breakfasts each morning were tepid and not fresh, as though they had been cooked and left to stand
for ages, not cooked fresh!. We felt as they were not that busy in the restaurant this 'cooked to order' could have been achieved. My husbands scrambled eggs were sent back 3 times, each time, although we were told they were cooked fresh, they were obviously not as they were cold. Other than the breakfast we enjoyed our stay with our grandaughter which was a birthday treat for her.
