About this cottage rental
The Gold Award rated Hop Kiln is an early Victorian building in very peaceful, unspoiled countryside.
It is approached down a long drive off a quiet lane with the owners 16th century house adjacent. The building retains many original features, lots of beams and quirky level changes, and is decorated and furnished to a high standard with antiques, books and pictures and comfortable beds. There is a private courtyard furnished with a bbq, table and chairs and a parasol, and also a lawned area with wonderful sunset views across the countryside towards Mortimer Forest.
The Hop Kiln is ideal for people wanting to explore the beautiful Welsh Marches area. It is 5 miles to Ludlow with its renowned food and antique shops, restaurants set in glorious medieval and Georgian buildings. The castle is the location in June and July for a major arts festival and in September for it's world famous food festival.
Nearby is Tenbury Wells, an attractive small market town, with good food shops, butcher, baker, fishmonger, greengrocer all with a strong emphasis on local produce, as well as other unique shops, and a Tesco with a riverside setting! There are lovely cafes, pubs and restaurants for eating out.
It is excellent walking and cycling country with rolling countryside, the drama of the Clee Hills and the tranquillity of Mortimer Forest. We provide maps and guide books of the area and can advise you on good walks.

We spent 4 lovely days in this original property Communication with Maggie was excellent and she was a discreetly available when we needed her.
The location itself is stunning and this quirky property was a pleasure to stay in. Its proximity to the A49, makes for easy trips out. Church Stretton and Leominster were particular favourites.

The property exceeded our expectations and we had a fabulous stay. The property is really interesting and well presented, everything has been thought of. There is also so much to see and do in the surrounding area that we really wish we had booked for a full week rather than just a weekend break. Maggie was a great host too - so kind and understanding

This renovated hops kiln is a unique, gorgeous property. It has been decorated to a very high standard, is well-equipped, and very comfortable. As mentioned in the listing, the cottage has a quirky layout with several levels and stairs, so that's something to be aware of. We loved our stay here and highly recommend this property. Thanks Maggie & John for being such good hosts!

The property was lovely, just as advertised. It was so peaceful and a perfect location to unwind, sit in the garden and watch the sunset over the hills. Maggie was very helpful and quick to reply to any queries. Friendly horses in the paddock was also a big bonus for our daughter, who went to see them at every opportunity.

Had a lovely stay at Hop Kiln
Maggie the owner, was helpful and friendly and the property was absolutely lovely and dog friendly too👍 it was so refreshing to find such a nice property with some quality furnishings and soft furnishings that allowed dogs - we dog owners are just as respectful of, if probably not more so, of another person’s property as anyone else!
There was a completely private enclosed space at the rear of the property but Maggie very kindly allows use of her own front garden which is so peaceful with gorgeous views.
It is only a short drive into Tenbury which has everything you need and there are plenty of places to visit if you can drag yourself away from enjoying the relaxation of such an idyllic setting.
Would not hesitate to return.

The cottage is amazing. It’s honestly the best we have stayed in! The decor is just lovely, it gives such a tranquil feeling. It is very rural, giving pitch black, silent, starry nights!! Just what you need when away from real life!! Such a wonderfully eclectic mix of furniture. The beds are almost too comfortable!! It really has everything you need for a very relaxing and stress free holiday!
Thank you Maggie, John and Coco!!

A wonderful peaceful hide away, set off a country lane a few miles from the main road, surrounded by farms and countryside, chill out at its best, not a thing to be heard at night apart from nature.

This accommodation is beautiful. Really warm and well provided. Spotless and comfortable beds and nice touches like dishwasher tabs, cling film, cooking condiments etc. Welcoming and informative host. Pretty area with loads of walking opportunities. The only negative was the difficult to use shower, plenty of water pressure but family couldn’t get it hot which was annoying for them. However intend to come back as we loved it!

Wonderful property, tastefully furnished, lovely and clean and very well maintained. Maggie went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed, which was much appreciated, but also left us alone to enjoy our stay, which we also appreciated. The cottage is very well appointed, to a high standard, and we wouldn't hesitate to stay again or recommend to others.

The house was everything we could wish for. Well equipped, spotless and tastefully decorated. We lacked nothing.
The surrounds were superb. The only slight disappointment was that the location was nearer to Tenbury than Ludlow. The advertising is a little misleading. Though having said that, we could have checked before we booked.
All in all, a delightful house which I'd be very happy to revisit even on my own. We didn't need to bother Maggie because we had everything we needed. Lovely

All things provided for. All you would expect from a country retreat. Maggie and John were very amenable.. single beds could do with new mattresses. Apart from that all very good. Would recommend

What an absolutely wonderful week we had. The property is lovely and we felt at home as soon as we arrived. Lovely crisp bedding and comfortable beds. Sat outside every evening, enjoying the view and the company of the horses. Could have stayed forever, our dogs had the time of their lives too. Loved the Millennium Green in Ludlow, lovely cafe and clear water for swimming. Would definitely come back. Thank you to Maggie, John and Coco for making us so welcome
