all was good for our over night stop . this was our second staycationing the The White Lion

room was very hot opened window for air , a strong wind arose we could not close the window major struggle to close the window eventually we got it to close

Lovely day and evening meal but horrible night with little sleep due to kitchen extractor fans .

Lovely staff, very helpful and considerate .

Bedroom room one was above the kitchen so normal pots and pan noises were heard all through the evening. Extractor fans outside the bedroom window made loud noises all night. Even ear plugs did not ameliorate the noise.

Lovely room and venue

Room was lovely, perfectly clean, some toiletries provided and very spacious. Ensuite bathroom was much larger than expected and again very clean. Every member of staff i spoke to was friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable and slept really well. Room did get quite warm as was above the kitchen but a fan was provided in the room so wasn't an issue at all for me.

Nothing I didn't like, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Comfortable stay and helpful staff. Restaurant meal disappointing

Breakfast was okay. Location was good. Good not to have to check out too early.

Difficult to make a choice of breakfast the night before. Kettle in room not that great and position of socket difficult.

Perfect pub, staff, accommodation & food.

The friendliness of the staff. The ambiance of the bar and locals who were delightful. Emily was particularly welcoming when we arrived. Duke is a great ambassador.

Shame about the breakfast.

Lovely friendly pub. Our evening meal was very enjoyable.

Very small poor breakfast,the bacon was cremated unable to eat it, toast was hardly toasted. Previous stay the breakfast was lovely.

A good base. I will stay again.

Very clean, properly dark at night which helped me sleep, comfy bed, friendly staff. Bedroom doors closed with a mortice lock which made me feel safe as I was by myself. The room was warm.

Doors were banging until late into the night which made me jump. It wasn’t a problem for me, but the standard double room is very long and thin and the bed is up against the wall so if there are two of you maybe consider an upgrade which is only a little more.

Probably wouldn't stay there next time we're visiting family. Shame the restaurant was shut.

Convenient location near to where family party was held. Were looking forward to evening meal as our family say the restaurant is good. Helpful receptionist.

Didn't know restaurant shut on sunday evening - meant a drive to nearby town for evening meal - real pain. We were the only guests that evening - agreed no breakfast as it meant the chef coming in on day off just for us (restaurant shut on Monday). My mobility restricted - longish walk on gravel from car park round to back of building - all rooms up a flight of fairly steep stairs - glad there was a handrail. Room a bit cramped. Ceiling light fitting hanging from wires. Care not to let tray overflow when showering.

after 570 mile travel in snowy weather in Scotland and mega traffic on a Bank Holiday and train strike it was a delight

on arrival the white lion looked charming and we’re greeted warmly by the very competent staff. the bedroom was spotless with a exceptional comfy bed. The Dinner in the restaurant was amazing , delicious and great value for money.

the property was lovely, in a quiet location. the pub and food were fabulous.

perhaps noisy on the nights with live music, but we checked that there wasn’t any planned we stayed.
