Good food, beautiful rooms. Great location, near city centre and railway station, but quiet.

The place was located right near the train station. Amazing food clean spacious rooms and great hospitality.

Really lovely room above restaurant/bar but no disruptive noise as closed by 10pm. Breakfast not till 8 but were prepared to leave a snack if need to get out early.

The Porterhouse is in walking distance to the train station, but on the other side of the tracks getting it away from the main tourist area. The Hop On/Hop Off buss is at the train station. It was absolutely silent at night. We were able to use that or just walk to any place we wanted to see. We slept with the windows open during out visit and at night time there wasn't a peep to be heard. We ate at the restaurant for breakfast, and once for dinner and the food preparations were exceptionally good, especially the aged steak. The staff were very accommodating, assisting with getting our luggage up the stairs to our room. This is an old classic building that has been well updated and within those constraints I would rate the hotel as exceptional and worth a revisit the next time I find myself in the area.
3.0
Overpriced for what it is which is a converted pub / house down a residential suite with our room overlooking a building site with noise and dusk at the premium. The restaurant downstairs was nicely decorated but lacked atmosphere and the food was average. The rest of the building needed some tlc and the room was ok but not £250 ok!!

Great stay, friendly and welcoming staff. The food was also very nice, we had dinner and breakfast and enjoyed both meals very much. The room was spacious and clean and had everything we needed.

Really enjoyed the amazing warm breakfast included with the room. The restaurant is a must, to have some amazing food in the evening. The hotel was quiet, and the bed comfy. The location of the property is in easy walking distance from the train station, a car rental store and also the amazing Oxford city centre.

The Porterhouse was fantastic! The room was perfect with beautiful decor and a terrific bathroom and comfy bed. The staff were always very upbeat and friendly to us, answering all of our questions with a smile. We ate there several times for breakfast and dinner. We were not disappointed! I have to say, we come from an area with a nationally renowned beef restaurant and the Porterhouse steak was better. Sorry Angus Barn! You will not be disappointed.

An upgrade to the rooms above the restaurant model. Though not luxurious, our room 4 at the back of the top floor was great for us: comfortable, clean, nicely decorated and quiet. The restaurant part was more a charming steakhouse than a pub. Breakfast was top notch with one meaty option including steak. Dinner there too a great experience, though not inexpensive. The option though for just a pint before closing was enjoyable. Location was also good for us: close but not too close to the crazy of Oxford, in a walkable residential area with pub and eating options downstairs and right nearby. All staff encountered were pleasant and effective.

Stayed for one night in Oxford- Room was clean and comfortable - no air conditioning - we had a comfortable night but may be unbearable in warmer weather. Staff was very accommodating - let us store our luggage both before checkin and after. Stairs leading up to room are very steep- but overall an excellent place to stay .

We stayed in a room and had breakfast and dinner. Great room! Comfortable, roomy, beautiful.
Fantastic meal! My husband got the sirloin and thought it was the best steak he’s ever had. Lovely staff, great atmosphere. I’m a vegetarian and also had a wonderful dinner. The breakfast was also delicious. Will always stay here when visiting Oxford.

A gem as long as you are ok with 5min walk from city centre

Breakfast was amazing cooked to perfection in my opinion, nice staff, our coffee machine was a bit dirty but apart from that all clean.

This is a lovely historic building with beautifully appointed rooms and a Five Star Steakhouse. We had the best meal of our entire 16 day trip to the UK-the steak was the most flavorful of any I have ever eaten. An absolute MUST VISIT if you eat red meat.
The only issue we had was the staircase to our room. They did assist us with our heavy bag but it was a chore. Hotels.com should insist on knowing #of stair steps required for those of us who need to know.
Breakfast was delicious-a lovely pub, with beautiful rooms, but being young and healthy is recommended.

This is a nice little high-end pub/inn. We stayed two nights and though the building is old, with wonky floors and tight staircases, it's very warm, cosy and relaxing to stay in.
I would recommend it and stay again next time I'm visiting in Oxford :D Not too far from the city centre either, ~ 20min walk if you're leisurely.

Hotel/Inn and restaurant were both disappointing. Room - no extra amenities, door very difficult to open from inside the room, coffee maker broken, shower very difficult to adjust. Steak at steak restaurant mediocre…difficult to cut. My butter sauce tipped and it took so long for them to bring another that I was finished eating. Only plus was close in proximity to train station and gentleman who was there when we arrived to hold our bags was pleasant and breakfast person tried to get our coffee pot to work for us and concluded that yes indeed it was broken.

We’ve just got back from a very enjoyable stay in Oxford. The staff at The Porterhouse were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble for them. Their friendly welcoming attitude was really appreciated. They even nipped out to buy Amaretto for me when they ran out! Our room was nice and the food was incredible. I had the best fillet steak I’ve ever eaten. We parked at the Seagate Park and Ride which was only a 5 minute bus ride away and so much cheaper than using one of the car parks in the city. We would definitely recommend The Porterhouse 🙂

This is our second visit to the Porterhouse and it was just as great this time as our visit last year. The staff are helpful and friendly, the rooms are adorable and spacious for two people! The dining at the restaurant in the property is first class, perhaps one of the best steakhouses I have been to. An easy walk to the heart of Oxford and the train station, this is a gem!!!

Wonderful staff. Superb restaurant on premises. Intimate and friendly but not intrusively so, like BnBs.

We thought the hotel was lovely. The room was large. The hanging space for clothes was short, which wasn't good for hanging dresses. We felt the room could have benefited from a comfortable chair there is room. The curtains were difficult to close in the bay window because of the desk, they needed to be closed as the blinds were not black out blinds.
The hotel was within easy walking distance to the town, but it was a nuisance parking.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Room was spotless.

The room and property in general was really lovely, as well as clean. The food and drinks were very good and the staff were faultless, friendly and helpful.

Porterhouse staff were extremely accommodating. Upon notifying them of our late arrival they willingly stayed later to make sure we could get into our room. Everyone was very kind, the service was excellent, and the breakfast was delicious. It’s a reasonable walk to the city center and right next to the train station. I highly recommend anyone stay here if visiting Oxford.

Lovely old property with age appropriate quirks. Near to train station. However seem unprepared for when guests arrive - rooms unheated. Seemed surprised I was not willing to accept this. Evening meal beautiful - particularly if you are a steak fan. Breakfast less so - if you don't want a poached egg and orange juice, forget it..... Very poor options or the ability to simply adapt an option

Delightful boutique hotel 5 minutes walk away from the station. Staff are so friendly and helpful, food is delicious (book a table as it gets very busy!), rooms are delightful and very comfortable. This is our third visit and won’t be our last!

Lovely pub in a quiet residential road. Easy 10 minutes walk into centre of town. Breakfast top notch!

A visit to Oxford. The porterhouse Property is within easy reach of the city centre, we parked at the seacroft park and ride 5minutes up the road and paid £15 for 48hrs parking and return bus to use within 72hours.
Lovely large rooms with beautiful rain shower and nicely decorated. Water and milk held in bottles in a fridge on the first floor so keeps it cold and fresh.
As there are only 7 rooms we weren’t disturbed at all during the night with people banging doors etc.
we had our evening meal there and can thoroughly recommend it was superb and then breakfast the next morning was fabulous and included in the price. I had Eggs Benedict and my partner a vegetarian grill which set us up for the next day.
Overall a lovely stay and we would definitely return.

The porterhouse had good food. It was odd to walk through the pub to get through the rooms. The rooms were spacious and gad great bedding.

Very clean and good location. Very nice services from staffs with cooked ordered breakfast. Only issue that no air condition, the fans can't beat the August heat.
