About this house rental

Maison Azul is located in the historic district of Merida. We are walking distance to almost everything. Restaurants, festivals, shops and museums are just blocks away. Our property was newly renovated in 2012 and was carefully designed to retain the charm of a past era while adding the conveniences of modern living. The main house boasts 17 foot ceilings, antique pasta tiles, 13 foot arches and gorgeous crystal chandeliers throughout. The grand salon has restored 100 year old fresco painting on the walls framed by gorgeous arches overlooking the pool and gardens. 3 of the bedrooms are in the main house and the 4th room is in the casita on the opposite side of the pool. The casita consists of a bedroom with an extra large bathroom featuring a sunken shower that overlooks the gardens and/or the pool. It also has a private outdoor shower. The pool, courtyard and covered patios are nestled in the center of the property with gardens and the casita toward the rear of the property. Wild parrots stop by the large trees surrounding our property for a little bit of the tropics in the middle of the city. Our garden includes orange trees, banana trees, an avocado tree, green and yellow coco palms, as well as a royal palm. The large pool was designed to combine the look of a european fountain with the natural turquoise waters of a cenote. It is the perfect place to relax after a busy day sightseeing. For the culinary lover in your group, the kitchen has a stainless steel professional stove with plancha or griddle. The kitchen has 3 large windows that overlook the pool, the gardens and the inner courtyard so the cook never feels left out of the activities in the house. With three fountains scattered throughout the property, the atmosphere is set for a romantic and relaxing retreat. The house includes a/cs in all 4 bedrooms and can sleep 8 - 10 people on 4 king beds and one futon. Ceiling fans in every room combined with the 17 feet ceilings keep the living areas surprisingly cool. The house also includes wifi, cable, a flat screen TV, DVD player.The rate price quoted per night is a base rate for 4 people and there is an additional $10 per person charge per night for each person over that. This extra person charge covers utilities, basic breakfast supplies and other added costs from larger groups.

Our small group enjoyed every minute. The house is beautiful and a little oasis. I will say it is a bit dark in the evenings but I think some of the lights were on the fritz. Hopefully an easy fix. I would definitely recommend this home for a family or group of friends. And having the parking space was great! Thank you!

Sherry is a wonderful host. She provided helpful videos that explained how the house works, the lighting in the garden, switches for the fountains, all the small details that bring the house to life. The back garden is really heavenly, just pure tranquility. Sherry even provides breakfast for her guests, the fridge had milk, cereal, yogurt and fruit; there was also coffee and tea. The AC in the house is very good, blasted us all to frosty perfection which was such a welcome delight at the height of Merida's summer. The house is centrally located, it's easy to park, and very easy to walk everywhere. Sherry has wonderful taste, the bathrooms were heavenly. I loved staying here, and I would absolutely love to return one day.

Our family (9) traveled from two continents to spend Christmas here and it was delightful! Sherry left great recommendations and instructions; found someone to cook for us when we didn't want to venture out and made sure our needs were met. The space is beautiful, exactly as pictured, and well maintained! Thank-you!

Our stay at your wonderful property was beyond our most ambitious expectations. Our wedding outside of Merida was delightful, but your house serving as a quiet retreat oasis made the week very special. We stayed at the house with our photographer and florists and their partners, and we were all so very inspired by your place. For all of us, it created a wonderful place to come home to after our busy days. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the gift of your creativity and impeccable taste in putting together such a treasure. We hope to return soon!

This is a beautiful home in the center of Merida. Tall ceilings and beautiful tiled floors are complimented with vintage armoires and seating. You can lounge in comfy couches in the library which is full of books including ones on Mexican design and cooking. Each room in the main house centers around the entry way and leads out to a lush interior courtyard. There is a covered porch where my family and I spent most of our time. Throughout the exterior, lights and fountains bring the space alive in the evenings. The well appointed kitchen has everything you need for making great meals. Bottled water and coffee maker are welcome amenities and the juicer led to some fine margaritas. Victoria comes into clean several days a week. Not sure we needed her there quite so often but she was very friendly. We ate at Apoala just down the street which was excellent. The owner supplied us with several emails giving us tips on places to eat, what fiestas were happening when...Really helpful for first time visitors like us. I would highly recommend Maison Azul to fellow visitors.

This house really is spectacular, it is actually even better than it looks in the photos! Every room has been tastefully renovated with lots of lovely details. Spotlessly clean, big comfy beds, beautiful bathrooms and a fabulous refreshing pool. Sherry was super helpful too. Cannot recommend this property enough, we had a really nice time and would go back tomorrow if we could. Thank you Sherry.

Our family highly recommends Maison Azul for it is a sacred space with beautifully appointed rooms for indoor and outdoor living. The pool and the casita provide a unique experience that fitted our family well. I can’t think of a prettier, better maintained property. The responsive owners know what travelers expect these days…from the wifi to the thirst towels, etc. Along with answering every one of our questions the owners recommended Lawson tours which led us to Uzmal ruins one day and a Mayan cooking experience the next. Both memorable! We love Merida and our walks to Centro and Santa Anna. Too many restaurants and activities in the area to name! Choose Maison Azul and you will feel a part of Merida’s fabric and not just a tourist.

This home took our week long vacation in Merida to the next level. The pictures do NOT do it justice. It is a beautiful, relaxing place to live. Returning there after a day of exploring the city was a pleasure in it's self. The place is large and even with three couples we were never " on top of each other." The owners (who live there when it's not rented) spared no expense when they remodeled. Everything from the linens to the bath fixtures are first class. If this house is within your budget, stop looking at other places and BOOK IT! You'll be thrilled with it.
