- Great location - comfortable bed

- couldn’t use the beachfront because of the sargassum. The hotel doesn’t clean it so had to use a beachclub a few blocks away of another hotel who does clean their beaches. Wasted potential - the pools were are not in a good condition. the pool tiles were comming off and the pool didn’t looked clean - staff wasn’t that helpful.

Good WiFi quality. Comfortable beds. Good location. Friendly staff, providing good spots to visit.

The restaurant is a bit pricey, the place was empty for two days in a row which, from our point of view, is not a good sign.

We got a room without windows - OK, we knew about that. The problem was with a big smell from the cleaning agents that we had no way to air out. Also the receptionist could not speak English well enough.

The property was nice and centrally located.

The room was smaller than expected. Booked a room with sea view and did not receive it. Some of the appliances were dated or needed to be replaced.

I don’t understand some previous guests opinions about this place. Wifi worked for me ok. There was hot water in the shower. Jacuzzi works fine. Music was from 8am not from 7am so it’s just about the time to move from bed😊. There is no elevator but view from top floor is amazing both days and nights. Ok, maybe furniture could be newer and would be nice to have fridge but you can live with that. Perfect cleaning of the room. Thank you 🙏🏻

Beautiful small hotel with ideal location

Booked a seaview room for my family however, I was given a back apartment with a dumpsite view next to the property. The kitchen was filthy, stove needs cleaning and burners replaced, dishes still on dish drain and not washed properly. Drawers with spoons and other utensils filthy. None of our beds had blankets. Hotel has huge potential, but front desk service (upon check in) and cleanliness was subpar by any standards.

The pool was not clean and the corner of the bay/beach was the only area where they did not place nets or cleaned a bit zo the rotting smell was overwhelming. You could not enjoy the pool, or breakfast at the hotel without getting naussious. There own price was much lower than on booking.com

The room was run down. No curtains or thick sheets. Curtains were stained. The lights in the bathroom did not work and there was mold on the ceiling. The stove and kitchen were old and rusty. Did not feel comfortable sleeping in a room in those conditions

I loved that the room was very comfortable and the staff very friendly. Access to beach ⛱ was perfect and we really enjoy the food too.

I think the room needs some more mirrors. The bathroom mirror was too high for my girlfriend.

The hotel had a nice rooftop pool with a great view.

The room was not ready at 3pm. A staff member walked us to our room and it was still dirty. They rushed to clean it but we had to wait. The beach directly in front of the hotel was covered in sargassum and it was the only place in the whole beach where it smelled like rotten dead fish around the pool and in front of the beach. Every other hotel was making the attempt to clean the sargassum, but not Aquastar.

In some rooms, there was no fridge...no way to cool water...Also no possibility to boil a water for a coffee... Not nice beach..

The location is ok, the staff is very kind.

The hotel is not good value for your money, doesn’t even have a window, not a place to put your things, it was the double room and it was tiny, at least it was clean but in that price range there are much much better hotels in Mahahual, so don’t let the pretty photos fool you.

Great location and nice outside area; considering that Mahahual is quite a small town this hotel was probably the best option.

Very small bathroom; room had unpleasant smell; the shower curtain is very short and the floor was always wet; The stuff hardly speaks English and there were no towels in the room when we arrived.

This is almost a good hotel, good location overlooking the beach and sea, two pools, decent rooms with some overlooking the sea. However we did not get allocated both the room types that we booked, one of the rooms being being unavailable due to a fault and substituted for a different type (we were given “complimentary” breakfasts in lieu of the room change). All rooms seemed to be in use, I think that they just overbooked the rooms. I would not recommend any hotel which does not allocate the correct room booked, and only informs you when you arrive.

When we arrived we were told that we couldn’t have both the rooms we booked (both with balconies overlooking the sea) as one had a problem. One room would have to be substituted for a “partial” sea view (actually a view of a wall, but if you stood up on the balcony, leaned out and looked sideways it was, just, possible to see a little sea), but then after 2 of the 4 nights be upgraded to a better room (actually not an upgrade as identical to the room we booked only with a worse sea view, but with its own plunge pool, which we didn’t use). The Wi-Fi didn’t work, only after repeatedly complaining about this did they give us a router for the room, it was then fine. No coffee maker in the rooms (shown in the pictures) until we asked for them, eventually we’re given some. Breakfast took ages to cook an omelet or scrambled eggs. I don’t think this is a bad hotel, just badly organised, lack of attention to detail. I would not book here again.
