View from the room, no alges at the beach, delicious breakfast, good location, nice hammock in the room, clean facilities
They were doing renovations and told us the day we arrived (!!!) that they would be making noise from 10:30-4:30pm everyday and we would get a 5%(!!!) discount for the remaining of our bill. This is outrageous, who travels 20hours to Mexico to have construction site noise in Holbox to be told at checkin! That was not cool, also because of course they never stop hammering at 4:30pm it often continued much longer. I dont recommend booking this hotel at the moment, once the construction is over, its nice :-) even if enough umbrellas at the beach and they make you pay extra for 2 dishes instead of 1 for breakfast, while portions are a good size, but not big

Loved the location, the sand areas, the shaded beach, the little restaurant. The proximity to activities and restaurants in the village was also very enjoyable. This place also has some wonderful little common areas, such as the reading nook with a sea view
Everything was great, but guests should be aware the rooms are basic. The only thing that could have been better was that the shower at times didn't have hot water

The location was second to none, worth paying to stay on the beach and near the centre of town. Rooms were spacious and staff were friendly.
Would have liked a duvet on the bed

Amazing beachfront property. Small boutique hotel.
7.0 / 10.0
The property was in a great central location to get to restaurants, walk in town, and walk along the beach. It was a 100 peso 6ish minute drive from the ferry. If you dont have a big bag, its a relatively straight walk but the golf cart taxis are apart of the experience.
We stayed in the top floor king room with ocean view, and the view was amazing. The room was spacious, decorated with a minimalist beach vibe.
The staff were absolutely incredible, so polite and attentive. The staff are the best part of the property. There was amazing views from the rooftop, but it was not really set up due to the hot weather. We still went up to watch the sunset everynight.
The private beach area is awesome because random people that arent staying at the hotel cant rent beach loungers. This was nice because we always knew we would get seats down by the water.
I hate that theres multiple things we didnt like…we really wanted to love this place, especially for the price we paid. We upgraded to the top floor king size room with sea view because I had read some reviews stating that those rooms seemed to have less sound issues with the nearby clubs, because you could hear the ocean more…well we couldnt open our windows at night because of raccoons all over the property, and we definitely hears the club 2 doors down until 3am every night. Light sleepers, this is not the spot for you. I got to see a room on a lower level and felt like the extra amount we paid, didnt feel worth it…which was a let down.
The room was cleaned everyday, but we never got fresh towels or were given the option for fresh ones? We dont mind hanging on to towels a few days, and try to be conscious of those kind of things…but it would have been nice to swap them out mid trip. (We also didnt ask for new ones, so that might be on us)
We were not allowed to bring outside beverages onto the private beach area, and we didnt know this until after buying a case of beer for the fridge. They had beverages at their bar, some steep in price, but we ended up ordering from the bar daily and drinking our beer on the roof.
The beach area is very small, with a small private swimming area in the ocean. This wasnt a big deal, other than there were fishing boats from next door that would anchor and some would be in that swimming area. We would just swim out past the boats. We didnt mind this aspect to much, but this might deter other people that want a larger beach area.

The best thing about staying here is the private beach access. You have your own little slice of heaven, never busy, bar staff always checking in on you. Special shout out to Salvador who made sure we never wanted for anything and was such a nice guy.
The breakfast, lunch and drinks were excellent but we were disappointed with the dinner. We went for the gourmet dinner but were told only one starter from the options was available. This was beef gyoza which we found to be tough and chewy. The lobster and catch of the day similarly were over cooked, and the tiramisu wasn’t great. We also wanted sparkling wine but this wasn’t available.
My biggest complaint is that we chose to stay here for one night as a treat to celebrate our recent engagement. We told the hotel in advance of this (they say to let them know if you are coming for celebration) and they said they’d set something up for us in the room.
But nothing was left for us - when we WhatsApped reception and told them, they said something should have been arranged on the bed. I told them nothing had been, and they didn’t reply.
I really would have expected more from such a nice hotel - they could have given us a free drink or similar token, but they didn’t even respond to me or apologise when I said nothing had been arranged. We were looking forward to celebrating this special milestone at La Palapa so that was disappointing. It’s a shame as otherwise we had a great time.

Small, tropical hotel in the perfect central location. We had a room with a huge balcony overlooking the beach and loved it. The room is spacious, looks a little more rustic in person than online, but that doesn’t matter at all. The bed and pillows are very comfy and it’s a spacious room.
The staff are all outstanding here- the girls at the desk, the groundskeepers, the guys at the bar/restaurant are all great and so hardworking. The beach is cleaned every morning, the sand around the property is raked throughout the day. The cushions are put away every night and the covers are changed, so when you go to use them they look brand new.
I had read many complaints before arriving regarding the noise. There are absolutely lots of different restaurants or bars nearby that play music and yes it can be heard in the rooms. However, once I was in my bed with the fan and a/c going, the noise did not prevent me from falling asleep nor staying asleep. I’m not sure if that’s because I was in an oceanfront room, but that was my experience. I’m a light sleeper and always use an eye mask and earplugs, even at home. I did the same here and slept fine.
The other complaint I had read before going was that there was only one outlet, in the bathroom. My room also had an outlet with built in usb between the beds, so this was also not an issue.
We explored a lot of the island, and what we appreciated about La Palapa, is that they don’t play loud club music day and night like many of the other places ( that would have driven me nuts!). Instead at the beachside bar/restaurant they have mellow music playing. So much more relaxing!
There is a water refilling station at the check in desk that we used constantly throughout our stay. They also supply shampoo, conditioner and lotion.
If I were to return to Holbox , I would definitely consider this hotel again. (It would only be the price that would potentially keep me away). I feel that what I paid on my visit was worth it.

Amazing location. Best bit of beach where you can walk straight into the water from your sunbed.
Unfortunately the noise from the bars is quite loud and does go quite late.

the property is right at the beach and the beach is very clean. it is also as close as it can get to centro. I wouldn’t choose any other place ! Also, the staff went above and beyond to help us out. A special thanks to Rocio, she is an angel ! Erica was great too :)
nothing to dislike actually

Everything about this hotel is perfect. Located on a private beach which only has a very small number of people passing through as they walk further up the beach.
Food and drinks from the bar are perfect, the room is exceptionally clean and the staff can't do enough for you.
We can't thank the guys at the bar enough, the breakfast and lunch was absolutely amazing and the cocktails even better (we're really sorry but we can't remember the lovely guys name from the beach bar but he was amazing and so so friendly)
Please thank all of the staff for their hospitality, from the reception staff to the bar staff, chefs and cleaners. Everyone we spoke to was extremely friendly and they cannot do enough for you. We will definitely be back!
Absolutely nothing! Perfect all round.

This hotel is absolutely fantastic, right on the beach. The staff are wonderful, we had the best time and didn't want to leave. The rooms were fine, traditional Mexican style, great a/c. We were on the first floor with a balcony complete with hammock and view of the water, so perfect. Each morning was like waking up in paradise, it was so relaxed. The staff went over and above to ensure guests had a great stay, we really appreciated the level of service and sincerity. We loved this hotel and hope to make the trip from Australia again. Thanks so much La Palapa and shout out to Salvador who was amazing!
Nothing to dislike at all.

The room and bathroom was very basic, but it was clean and the location and staff make for a great stay.

The bed was confortable and the view is nice. But that’s it to be honest.
We were offered a room on the ground floor, with a direct view on the sunbeds and a lot of people passing by. When we asked to change rooms, the staff was not friendly and basically told us that they had the right to give us a room on the ground floor. That is indeed correct, but as we paid 300USD with an upgrade they suggested, we never thought that would be the room we would have gotten.
Moreover, the breakfast was really mediocre.
I strongly suggest to check out other hotels on the island, who are much much better, cleaner, more beautiful and do not have such a stinky beach (this is a real thing in Holbox, but especially at this hotel).

Excellent location! 2 min walk from all the restaurants and bars but far away from all the noise. All the staff was very lovely and attentive, the breakfast was the best I’ve had on the island! The guacamole was unbelievable, I’ve had it with every meal!! :)
Everything was perfect

Nice massage, good breakfast, close to restaurants
Loud music nearby at night, the shower flooded into the bathroom and room almost to our bed, scheduling massage was chaotic & staff said conflicting information. Overall I would not return for this price

There is places around with loud music, so it can be a bit hard to sleep.

Even though it is in town, it is very quiet. Salvador at the beach bar was great! Took great care of us
They need a door mat to wipe sand off your feet when stepping into the room.

I would only recommend better bath towels.

The rooms were not great, and the shower was awful.
9.0 / 10.0
this hotel was amazing! the staff were very kind and helped us with anything we needed. the location couldn’t be better and the rooms were very spacious, with a great view! breakfast was also delicious and a good size portion
the shells that are used for the sink and shower are aesthetically pleasing but in reality it is difficult to have a nice shower as the water pressure is too hard. other than that everything was great and I’d still stay again
9.0 / 10.0
Location is perfect to everything and the property itself is located steps away from the beach. Truly beautiful and relaxing. Great AC and friendly staff and great complimentary breakfast. They give you incense to repel mosquitos.
The best fed was firm and the sheets were very thin. No tv and no room phone and the hammock smelled but it’s island life!
