Beds were clean.
I complained the morning after we arrived as we arrived at 6pm local time after traveling.
The room was poorly cleaned when we arrived, mould in the bathroom and the windows (corner room with full height windows on two sides) were disgusting, hand prints and marks where people had been clearly having 'relations' against it.
Lights behind the bed were broken and didn't work, the 'open air bath' that was meant to have a feed from the hot spring was barely a dribble from the hot spring tap, so this should be removed as a feature, overall feel ripped off, you have to wear slippers in the hotel which I fully respect but none would come close to fitting me so going through the hotel was actually painful going up the stairs to what was meant to be their 'best room'.
The seats in the room that are meant for extra beds were also disgusting and dirty, when I complained I was told "the dirt wouldn't come out", these should be replaced.
On arrival at 6pm I asked what we could do and got the reply of 'nothing, all closed' which realistically wasnt true as some places would have still been open around gora station.
The light fitting next to the bed was broken on one side.
Side note, every hotel we stayed at in japan gave a free bottle of water in the fridge each day, nothing was given, the tea and coffee in the room wasn't even restocked.
when I complained overall the only things that were fixed was the mould in the bathroom, the windows were given a wipe down and tape put on the one light fitting. but for the cost of the place (which was over 4 times more expensive per night than tokyo) and the fact we booked the 'best' room I can't in good conscience recommend this place.
Additionally I have been in contact with booking.com support of which the hotel seems to have told them everything was fixed. 50% of our stay was not up to scratch so will be pushing for a refund of some value.

Extremely friendly and accommodating staff, nice location in the nature and modern and spacey rooms. The beds were very comfortable and we could use the Onsen bath free of charge. There were slippers and Yukata bath robes to rent for free, we felt it is a very traditional place and definitely was a unique and relaxing experience. Tje reception provides a free ride to and from Gora station that you can sign up for a day in advance.
The only not perfect thing was that the reception didn’t speak much English and we sometimes had to use a translator.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The meals were delicious and the onsen was great. They had a morning shuttle to take you to Gora station.
The location was uphill walk from the station so taking a taxi was needed with luggage

I loved the onsen, very clean surroundings.
It is a bit far from Gora station, but they offer transfer prior reservation.

The food was some of the best food I have ever had. The meals were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. I could eat there every day. Also, the staff were all so kind and accommodating. The whole place was beautiful to explore and the room was oh so cozy. The bed was the most comfortable bed I stayed in through my whole time in Japan.
The foot massager upstairs next to the massage chair was pretty bad, it hurt. Also, I wish that I didn’t have to cover my small tattoos!

Such a relaxing and peaceful place to stay in Hakone! The room was spacious (which is a rarity in Japan)! They also provide shuttle bus service to Gora Station which is helpful, but it's also close to a bus stop if you need another way to get around :) The hotel staff were friendly and accomodating, and the breakfast was an experience!

Nice, small Onsen; cozy room
Unfortunately no pick up offered (only shuttle from hotel to Gora Station); it’s a steep hike of 20 minutes; the cablecar stops service around 5pm

nice location. neat, comfortable. wonderful food.
only one staff can speak English. communication can be an issue sometime. it is a hard walk from Gora station, rather use the lift service from hotel

The room was a nice and the beddings were comfortable. There is a scheduled shuttle bus to Gora in the mornings so it’s convenient. A nice place if you want to just relax and chill within the property, so it’s better if you book your meals with the hotel.
The dinner had a nice platter of sukiyaki beef, but it would be nice to have some sashimi for appetizer. Onsen is quite small, so plan your time to use it to avoid crowd.

The staff was excellent. I am grateful for Kumar, who spoke English and compensated for my woefully limited Japanese. The dinner and breakfast really made us feel like our stay exceeded the value of the cost to us. The staff was very helpful and patient as we stumbled our way through a traditional breakfast with a slightly fussy baby. Also appreciated the free parking.

The hotel staff were very accommodating and drove us to a dinner when we told them that taxis weren't available. The rooms are very comfortable. Area around the hotel is green and lush.
If you are travelling without a car, you will need to do a bit of forward planning. There are very few taxis so they cannot always come when you order. There are buses to many locations but the schedule might not suit your trip so plan in advance.

It was good.
The price seemed a bit expensive. The facilities in the room felt less. It would be nice to have a shower inside the room.

Staff was very nice. I twisted my ankle walking and was in pain and the gentleman at the front desk offered me aspirin and other items. The location is a little difficult to navigate and they offered us a ride to the nearest train station so we could return to Tokyo. I think it was a good value.
Everything was fine.

The staffs were very accomodating, helpful, and warm. Facilities are very good, my family enjoyed the private onsen very much as well as the coin massage chairs outside after a hot bath. We found it very peaceful at night and we had such a nice sleep.
We made a mistake booking the room as we thought we got a special room with its own private hot spring bath so it was a bit frustrating but we just enjoyed everything else around to not spoil the trip. Will be very careful next time. ;P

Very friendly people
The room had everything you wanted from a Ryokan, comfortable beds, nice sitting area, wonderful views.
There was a private onsen in the hotel, but also an outdoor one, both were amazing!
