The pool needs a heater

This is by far the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at!!! There was feces on the crib mattress!! The staff were very weird and pushy for tips. The room was falling apart. The beds weee terrible. Everything is broken including the towel rack. Have pictures to prove how bad it is.

Should provide free breakfast. Plus the fees are high and the sheets were itchy. Missing paint and older decor.

Everything was good. I would suggest taking carpet out of elevator and put something else in. Staff was very friendly

My friend and i always stay here. It never disappoints. The service is excellent, rooms beautiful and we especially love the pool bar. Also it is further east on the island away from the crowds.

The room stank so much as if the carpet was wet and a smell of mold in the air . I had to use Lysol spray or I thought I would throw up. The power went out and I had to carry my own luggage down 4 flights of stairs . The hallway in the corridor in the floor I my bedroom was at stank like a dead corps

If your looking for a semi clean property in the middle of all the action then this is your place. The pool and bar staff were wonderful. With a few minor updates this would be a 10/10 property.

The front desk, manger Jo,and housekeeper were amazing, however the staff at the long bar pool area where very rude and only served guests that where only Mexican or white.

The DoubleTree was great. I would recommend it for a great beach view and pool in a great area of Galveston. However, EXPEDIA was NOT great in this transaction. In the list of "other charges," parking was included (and listed) several times in the overall price. I chose the DoubleTree precisely because Expedia included NO extra parking charges. Then, when I checked out, parking was charged to my room charges. How am I supposed to accurately decide on a hotel when I don't have all the facts??? It's hard to want to continue using Expedia when the price never ends up being what is promised.

I do not typically leave reviews, but feel obligated to let others know that this place is nowhere near the standard of a typical DoubleTree hotel. This was, by far, the worst, yet most expensive, DoubleTree I've ever stayed in. Seemed more like a discount motel. These were some of the issues: 1. Balcony door was warped and would not close completely to lock. 2. Outlets/Chargers on the nightstand did not work 3. Holes in the headboards and paint chipped from walls 4. Safe in the room did not work 5. At various times these were out of order: elevator, pool restroom, one of the front doors to the hotel 6. Phone in room did not work 7. Refrigerator was unplugged...i think it may have started working after we plugged it in 8. The back door to the hotel had a sign that said a key was required for entry, but stayed unlocked 24/7 This place is more like a neglected motel than a DoubleTree Hotel. Don't let the pics fool you.

Front desk staff were wonderful.

The beds and the floor in the room we got felt wet and it came with an awful pool water smell. Planned for a two day vacation but decided to leave early and asked if we would get refunded for the day we didn't spend. They said it was possible as long as we left before 11AM so we got out by 8AM. A day later and we still got charged for that day even though they said it would be refunded. Called them and they said a bunch of bs and that we checked out just now. This place is a SCAM. DO NOT COME HERE.

I would stay here again. All of the people in the hotel were all helpfull. I felt safe in the hotel for myself and my family. Close to all of the attractions, convenient location, free self-parking. Has a nice bar facing the beach. One con: the hotel is a little bit old and to me, it is a little overpriced given the condition of the hotel. But in Galveston Island, you have limited amount of options decent prices. This hotel is one of them. We only stayed for 1 night as a pass through and would stay there again.

the staff there was amazing to me and my wife and we absolutely loved everything about it now the wifi was pretty hard to figure out but who needs it when you got so many places to go

The pool bar, near the Strand, right on da beach!!!

Bathroom floor was leaking water. Tons of wear and tear within the room. Carpet was extremely dirty all over the hotel. Definitely needs some updating to make it look clean. A little too pricey for how dirty the hotel was but I guess it’s because it’s located on the shoreline.The drinks at the pool bar were amazing.

Walkable distance to beach. Clean pool. Restaurant in house. Friendly staffs. Easy parking.

I Would have appreciated a microwave and free parking paying that much for a room. Beautiful place and location.

It’s a great place to stay. Very clean & friendly staff. Swim up bar was great and loved that location was just across the street from the beach! Would stay again! Loved the balcony view! Other comments about window curtains is true. It’s wear & tear, but that shouldn’t keep you from making a reservation.

Like the location, room views, pool and bar. I think walking in gives the wrong impression. That reception looks dated and needs work. Carpet in elevator #2 is old and messy looking.

The room had a damp smell - and the lamp shades were stained. I realize it’s beachfront property, but these were overly in my opinion. We would stay there in the future based on all else -

Staff was rude, and seemed to be bothered that they had to check us in. The room was visually nice, but the overwhelming smell of mold was so strong that we could not wait to leave. I could not believe this was a Hilton brand property.
