Beautiful hotel. Only thing is that there was no wash clothes. The view by the river is spectacular. The breakfast was an art piece
If you cannot walk to town , it may be hard bc not easy to get a cab. The town closes by 5pm so if you do not order dinner at the hotel ahead, u maybe eating at Lawson.

The people and service were lovely. My low score comes from my disappointment with the cleanliness and overall condition of the hotel. Our room looked like it was quite worn out. Additionally, the private tub while nice, was surrounded by mould. If I were to come back to Hakone, I would skip staying here.
2.5
Very traditional, modern hotel with both private and public onsen located about 10 minutes walk from station. The half board offered was traditional set meal. Staff were wonderful though very limited English.

We are so happy we chose to stay here. The service was impeccable. Our room with a private balcony bath was perfection after a long day roaming around Hakone. Enjoyed the stone tub that kept the water hot for hours. The sound of the creek all night created a wonderful zen atmosphere. We suggest the half board. The dinner was delicious and the servers explained everything and how to eat it. We were grateful. Breakfast was filling and a great way to start our day. Thank you for the wonderful stay.

The room was very comfortable with a private bath on the balcony. The hot pot dinner was much more than I expected; the food and service were outstanding! Unfortunately I couldn’t get to the rooftop due to a knee injury. The only downside was not being able to get a cab to the train station. It wasn’t terribly far, but difficult due to an injury.

Loved the hotel. There are snacks available
Throughout the day along with 24hr free refreshments. There’s icecream on level 6 at night as well as endless shoyu ramen on level 2 at a certain hour. The breakfast and lunch was very good! English friendly. Hot springs were amazing. 10/10

Most relaxing stay I have ever had in my life. They spared no expense. Definitely worth trying this ryokan before leaving Japan.

This hotel's policy of no kids under six is tucked below in small letters that are practically impossible to find when booked through the Expedia app. The policy is not included in the check-in instructions either. We made the mistake of booking this place for one night, which included a kaiseki dinner and a private onsen. We reached the hotel shortly after 7 pm with our 5-month-old, and the hotel said they won't be able to accommodate us due to the policy. Instead, they put us in their sister hotel, which is far from the station, does not have a private onsen, and is much cheaper than the hotel we booked. Also, they told us that they wouldn't be able to give us the kaiseki dinner; by the time we reached the other hotel, it was around 10 pm. We were tired and exhausted, and our baby was distressed. The sister hotel reeked of dried fish and only offered some ramen for dinner. The next morning, the sister hotel concerned offered some really subpar breakfast that also reeked of dried fish that we couldn't eat. We asked the sister hotel to call a cab for us but they refused asking us to call our "private taxi". As a result, we had to walk for nearly 30 minutes in the drenching rain with the baby. They also almost lost one of our suitcases as they were preparing to forward only one luggage instead of two to the next hotel. They also didn't refund the price difference between the two hotels. Our worst travel experience so far.

Must try their half board. Food is so good and their public bath is must.

Loved their half board. We ended up going back for another night for it. Public bath is nice with all the amenities.

Loved the private onsen and the kaiseki breakfast. The onsen and rooftop space was peaceful and relaxing.

Great place! Outdoor bath in the balcony is a bonus! A bit of walk from the station, but you can use the shuttle bus too.

The staff at the hotel were so helpful and kind, and they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We didn’t want for anything during our stay and had such a relaxing overnight stay, especially with the hot spring bath in our room and the forest view from the balcony. If we ever come back to Japan, we hope to stay here again.

There’s a lot of value for what you get that is included in the price of the hotel including breakfast and dinner, a ramen snack bar, all-you-can-drink beer and other soft drinks as well as the private fudo tub on the balcony.

Incredible room. Perfect location . Excellent experience. Felt like it was truly Japanese. Hakone is beautiful.

Just beautiful… loved the onset and the balcony bath. Rooms were very spacious and lots of little extras. The half board package was a lot of food so 2 nights was enough.

Tsukino was easy to get to from train station, walkable in 10 mins with other shops and dining options around. However I would definitely recommend the half board package as their food is excellent. Granted I had to guess what a lot of it was but that actually made it quite fun. The staff were very helpful and attentive as well as conscious and considerate over allergy issues. Truly a fantastic experience. I loved how each floor had a different theme and the bedroom was well stocked, large and comfortable. My only criticism is that there must be a gap in the patio door somewhere as despite having the doors closed biting flies still got in.
If I came back to the area I would stay here again, for longer period.

Really enjoyed our two night stay at Tsukino Yado Sara. The room was roomy with western style beds which I prefer to futons. The balcony had a bath tub looking out over a river which was relaxing but I preferred the main hot springs that had an outside bath overlooking a forest. I used it 3 times a day and my body felt so rejuvenated.

We stayed 1 night in this nice hotel. 10 minute scenic walk from the train station going through the city centre avenue. Our room was spacious with private onsen. Clean and updated. The dinner and breakfast were excellent. The staff were friendly and hospitable to us western tourist. Once in a lifetime experience for us. Great experience overall.

An absolutely beautiful location, view, and experience! They were extremely clean and staff was very friendly and helpful. They made a huge effort to understand our broken two worded Japanese, speak to us in English, and even pulled out their own google translate to assist us. The onsen is so peaceful and clean. Would recommend to everyone I know. Looking forward to coming back some time in the future. Loved that there were so many amenities included with the stay and it felt like it gave us the real onsen experience with the multi course meals.
