Always great to stay here, beautiful surroundings and stunning house!

Very nice hotel in a great location. Quite difficult to find but the helpful receptionist talked us in and also helped with luggage to our room. Very busy because of a wedding and another big party. Staff struggled at breakfast on Sunday and closed down the buffet before we had been served our breakfast. Housekeeping is a bit sloppy. Two items missing on arrival which reception brought up. Room not serviced until very late on Saturday and staff a bit surly when asked to do it because we wanted to get changed to go out. Not all items replaced on either day. Dirty and mouldy bath slipmat pointed out on first day but not replaced till second day. Needs a good chief housekeeper to keep it tight. Breakfast had a very good choice but some are quite large. Big thick doorstep chunk of brioche with a delicate meal like smoked salmon and scrambled egg is too much. The sausage sandwich would feed you for the day. Good place for hungry people. Overall with a bit of tightening up it is a great place and we would definitely stay again😁

Fantastic location and building in an exceptionally quiet location, however is looking tired internally. The room was ‘de luxe’ and whilst the bed was very comfortable the room and bathroom are ready for a revamp. The shower ran hot and cold and was only suitable for a smaller person and the shower shield leaked. We were awoken at 0600 on Sunday morning by the room alarm, which had obviously been set by the previous occupant and not reset by housekeeping. We had supper in the bar, and whilst I understand there were some functions going on, we struggled to get any staff attention to place an order. When the food and drinks arrived they were excellent. The bill for supper was incorrect with several items added, however this was resolved quickly once I identified the error. We came down for breakfast at 1000 and again struggled to get the staffs attention and there was very little left at the continental breakfast. Once we got the staff’s attention this was all resolved. The coffee was excellent. I wonder if the hotel is understaffed?

A quiet hotel in a nice area. Close to a park and Metro station.

Great service, lovely location

Hotel room was very good standard and breakfast excellent, but felt there were a few things that needed attention eg
The menus for the restaurant in the frame outside the door had fallen and needed to be replaced or rehung. A small job but not a good impression when entering the hotel for the first time.
Additionally I had to wait 10 minutes when I was checking out whilst the reception isn’t completed a phone call to someone who was wanting to book a room for a wedding in a years time. She should have said she would call the lady back as she had guests to check out!
Finally out on the terrace plates and crockery had not been cleared away which looked a bit shoddy. And there was broken glass there this morning from last night.
These are just small things but make the difference between a good hotel and an average one.

Dining options could have been better.

We have stayed quite a few times at this hotel and always found the staff were one of the main reasons to keep coming back. They are unfailingly friendly, helpful and professional and a credit to the hotel. The breakfasts here also are some of the best anywhere - plenty of choice of freshly cooked food or a continental buffet. Because of the nature of this hotel being a beautiful old mansion, the room you are given can be a bit of a lottery. We upgraded to a suite this time which was in a more modern building at the side and although it was really spacious, one window overlooked part of the car park and the other overlooked the bin store, which was also rather noisy on collection days! The door and windows could have done with a new coat of paint too. Otherwise the decor is lovely, elegant and with a touch of humour in the framed cartoons on the walls. We will be back, but will research the rooms first to choose a quiet, garden facing one!

We had a wonderful stay. We were upgraded to a delux room and appreciated the vegan treats left in the room. The lady on reception was very welcoming and friendly. Hotel lovely. Will stay again.

Loved this hotel. Stayed in a deluxe room in the new building and it was very nice indeed. Reception and dining room staff were first rate and very friendly. Only disappointment was that they had run out of Craster kippers for breakfast.

What a beautiful place to stay, so close to the city yet with a country feel and in the most gorgeous surroundings. it was calm and peaceful as well as comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were lovely.

Very well situated for a walk into Jesmond Dene. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast very good.
Our room was not very big however was comfortable and well equipped.
The only problem was with the unusually low height of the wc in the bathroom.

Stunning building in a beautiful location . Food was very tasty and staff very friendly , would have been nice to have a view that wasn’t obstructed by trees but someone has to have this room would certainly return

Country feel in urban environment. Nice building and room but limited facilities. We only had breakfast but it wasn't exceptional: we had a long delay in it arriving...and cooked breakfast was cold.

Stayed here a few times with varied success due to mattresses being very uncomfortable but this stay was perfect - room and bed was great and food especially the breakfast always exceptional. Love how easy parking is in comparison to other hotels in Newcastle.

I stay away with work a lot and it was the little touches with this stay that would definitely get me to book again. Staff were great

Great location, ease of parking and front of house staff. Generally could do with a refresh. F&B offering is really poor, not enough staff, not well trained enough, unbelievably slow. Walk out to Osbourne Road to avoid disappointment

Always great. Beautiful property, amazing food, wonderful welcome. We stay at Jesmond Dene house on every visit to Newcastle.
My only question, why are the toilets so low to the ground?

Great Hotel in a great location. Parking and quiet. Stayed a number of times and the rooms are getting a bit dated. Old TV, Shower, kettle in wardrobe, a bit 1980’s. But clean neat and tidy.

Booked a last minute one night stay so we could attend an early morning appointment at the Nuffield Hospital.
We had used the Jesmond Dene House on multiple occasions previously and it is a really great hotel, however, on this occasion the customer service was lacking.
Within 30 minutes of me booking the room (which was non refundable) the hospital cancelled the appointment. I sent an email to the Hotel explaining the predicament.
I expected the hotel to email back offering to move the booking to another day, or another solution, but alas I got nothing in return, not even a response to say the room could not be refunded but they understood. Nothing.
They had the time to offer me extras on the room, but failed to respond to my communication asking for some support.

Wonderful hotel nestled in beautiful Jesmond Dene. Close to Jesmond with lovely bars, shops, restaurants and cafes. Beautiful hotel. Would recommend it and stay here myself again.

Only complaint was I upgraded to superior room and ended up in a which had been adapted for disabled/older people

This was a birthday treat for my wife, so a return visit to Jesmond Dene House was her first choice, and didn't disappoint! Beautiful room, luxurious bathroom, superb restaurant for a romantic evening meal, and rounded off with a generous breakfast. This is definitely a top drawer destination which is well worth the price.

Stayed recently for a single night. Travelled by train to Newcastle, then by Metro which is less than a 10 minute walk away.
Hotel is warm and welcoming, staff are attentive and friendly.

Beautiful room. Shame I was only there one night and unable to take advantage of all the facilities. As Arnie said “I’ll be back “

Lovely setting, a building steeped in history, wood panneling. Warmly received at Reception and shown to our room. Everything seemed fine and we looked forward to our two night stay.
It became apparent that the toilet was much closer to the ground than normal. Not comfortable for 5"11" guy with dodgy knees. Nevermind, we were only there a couple of nights and I could live with it. Looked up at eye level lights in the bathroom that were dusty and obviously hadn't seen a cloth or polish for a while. Otherwise, room was fine with everything one could need.
The big let down though was the breakfast. Not so much the quality but on both days the full english cooked breakfast was lukewarm. It didn't seem like most of it was cooked to order apart from the eggs. Whether the plates were cold or some of it had been out a while warming I don't know. On both days I asked for ketchup.. on the first day I had to ask twice and by the time it arrived I had half a mushroom left. On the second day it didn't arrive at all.
The reception staff were excellent but the breakfast staff were efficient but we personally would have liked a bit more friendliness and interaction rather than the focus to do everything as they are told to. For us it lacked personality and warmth.
Had a drink in the bar quite late and there was only one other customer. We were served efficiently but again no real interaction and the focus seems to be head down doing the job not the customer
It all felt a bit distant.

It’s a lovely building in a peaceful, convenient location. Room was lovely, clean & bathroom was magnificent. If I was looking for something to complain about it was that the bar closed quite early- although when we asked someone did come & serve us with no hesitation but asked us to sit in a different room . We didn’t eat breakfast but it looked lovely. Would definitely go back to stay again

A friendly welcome was received that was matched by exemplary customer service, so much so we are planning a return visit in a couple of months.. compliments to the chef and his team as both dinner and breakfast were fantastic.
