With such a wide selection to choose from,
We are so glad we stayed at ten Yu. The food was delicious and abundant and the views from the onsen were wonderful.

The first room we were in was filthy with mold and fungi spreading across the walls, dirty bed sheets and hair that was not ours on the covers. My wife is vegetarian and the dinner options were absolutely horrible, feels like they never prepared any meals for a vegetarian guest, with most dishes consisting of lettuce and some other vegetables, and barely any cooked food, the food quality decreased drastically since my last time. Not recommended and not worth the price. They did swap the room once we called them and the staff was very nice and kind, but I expect more value for my money spent.

Caring staff who made our stay memorable

Spa trip to experience Japanese onsen, and Japanese food with the set banquets.
Everything from check in to room, onsen pools, dinner and breakfast was excellent.
The location was great and would have been better if it wasn’t raining when we visited!
2.5
Amazing hotel with spectacular views! Loved the private onsen in my room, and I enjoyed the breakfast buffet.
2.5
Excellent "resort" hotel in a lovely setting within Hakone National Park.
Highlights include very relaxing onsens, a very comprehensive breakfast, and the most helpful staff we have experienced on our trip so far. Special mention to Ken Ishida and Fujita Kanko, who both went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
A great base for visiting the Hakone NP's many beautiful places.

Communication with hotel was difficult . They answer very late or not at all. If u hv children, dinner arrangement is very difficult . Even tho it’s a family hotel, meals ate not offered to children unless ur an infant. Hotel is beautiful but private onsen seems outdated n dirty. They do not provide transportation to n from hotel. U hv to book a taxi days ahead , if not ur not able to get to there train station unless u catch the local bus. The water park is dirty n not well maintained. Very dangerous with mats that r broken or torn . Easy to trip with a wet floor .

A wonderful stay away from the big city! We stayed for one night, but wish we stayed at least two nights. The rooms were large and included outfits to wear within the hotel community. We also enjoyed our private onsen on our balcony both in the evening and morning. This was the perfect way to end our Japan trip!

Amazing stay, the staff was incredible, the food was amazing, highly recommend!

We stayed here 2 nights and absolutely loved it! There are 2 public onsens that alternate between gender each day, tons of in-room and onsen amenities, onsen etiquette lessons, huge rooms, nightly entertainment with complimentary sparkling wine, amazing service by the friendly staff, free ice cream whenever you want, footbath, coffee, tea, a large beautiful garden, the views are unreal at every spot, and the list goes on. We weren’t a huge fan of the kaiseki dinner but there’s a chirashi bowl and dessert buffet you can help yourself to. Breakfast had a huge variety but the French toast was unbeatable. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Hakone!!

Beautiful facilities, big rooms, 2 onsens to experience. Dinner and breakfast were decent.

This is our second time to Tenyu, still have really good experience. However, they didn't honor the food and beverage credit though. Also, we enjoyed the kaiseiki dinner before, however, they do offer teppanyaki as well as soba restaurant.

Last year we stayed this hotel and we came back this year too! The room, baths are beautiful and food is amazing. We were my mum(70’s) and me (40’s) and my daughter (10). So this amazing buffet made all of us so happy. Staff members were so nice and helpful and of course, Yunessan is great fun! We hope to come back place next year too!

he place there is no phone directory in the room. I had to go down to the lobby to talk to the receptionist for replacement of shower towers. Another things the staffs were all good in manner, however their English need to be improved.

Ten-Yu was an excellent a beautiful hotel and a great location to explore Lake Ashi and Hakone National Park.

The hotel was incredible! The onsen was unreal! The most gorgeous place I have ever stayed with such a calming energy. Lilian was so helpful and the facial and massage put me right to sleep. The balcony with the private onset was divine! My only regret is that I didn’t stay longer!

very nice hotel and easy transportation. Will come back again

The property was beautiful with great amenities. 5 start on that. However, the food quality average, especially for breakfast. Most staff members were courteous and helpful but there were a couple who were ruined.
Also, everyday during check-in time, the lobby is an absolute mad house, not at all what a 5-star hotel should look like. We would always aviod passing by that area during that time because of the noises and crowd.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay, the atmosphere was relaxing, garden was beautiful at night, buffet was delicious, staff were friendly and live performances was lovely. One thing I was very disappointed though, on the website it stated * For the guests who are not used to Japanese Onsen, we have rental of Yuamigi (bathing wear) at reception desk, but when I asked the staff when we were checking in, she said no clothing allowed at all. And that was one of the main reasons why I have booked this hotel. If you are not providing Yuamigi, please don’t provide false information on the website.

Very nice hotel, beautiful green and nice views. Once you reach hotel only option is hotel restaurants. Not a lot of options for vegetarians. We had 8:30AM train from Odawara and it would suggest people to book later trains.

What an amazing property! Wish we could have stayed longer. We had a room with a private bath on the balcony. The room also had an amazing massage chair. We loved the clothing provided for the Onsen - so comfortable (other than the shoes - they were not made for big American feet). Free ice cream tokens whenever you wanted. The garden on the property was amazing. Buffet dinner was a bit chaotic and confusing as we were sat at a table in the back and were not told we could go to the buffet any time so we sat for a while before we figured it out. The food choices at dinner and breakfast were amazing and high quality. We would definitely return again and highly recommend!

Wonderful, incredible stay at this onsen. Modern amenities with beautiful interiors, the best service and top-notch buffet offerings. I am hugely impressed by their services. Will definitely come back!

Wonderful staff who were all very friendly and helpful. Our room and the onsen were very clean. The outdoor onsen were beautiful and we loved getting to try them both. We enjoyed the foot bath as well.

Nice view of waterfalls in onsen
Nice view of sunrise in onsen

Nice property for those wanting a Ryokan experience without sleeping on the floor. Great private onsen in your room. Spacious rooms and comfortable beds. Hotel was very crowded during our stay. We were disappointed with the buffet dinner, very overpriced in our opinion. Good location from station. Average location for lake activities, would recommend staying closer to the lake if you don’t have a car.
