This was without a doubt one of the worst booking experiences I have ever experienced in my whole life. I have travelled extensively and often work overseas and this is only the second bad review I have ever written. Usually if I something is less than satisfactory I prefer to stay positive and do not bother writing bad reviews. But this property owner’s behaviour was so rude and their behaviour so egregious I feel compelled to write this review. I am an American academic and archaeologist who has lived in the UK since the 1990s. In January I gave up my flat and walked 2000 km along the Camino de Santiago from France to to Portugal. I flew back to London in April and immediately lost my wallet at Luton and although it was found on the Green Line bus several days later, by thenI had cancelled all my cards. I had to go to A&E twice on my long hike and some of those health issues continued upon return and I very ill after landing and could not book my own hotel rooms, so my friend Simon kindly agreed to book lodging for me so that i could recuperate, rest as i waited for my own debit/credit cards to arrive. I sent him several links and we both saw how highly reviewed this particular property and owners were and decided to book a single night. So at 19:21 he booked this property, added a message to the owners stating that I would arrive from 20:00 to 21:00 and sent me the booking information. I was exactly three tube stops away from Bow where this flat is located, and I immediately started making my way there and I arrived at 20:10 looking forward to the fine amenities advertised and a good rest. So I was surprised to see that the property owners had sent Simon a WhatsApp message at 20:01 telling us that check-in closed at 20:00 and that it was not possible to accommodate us because the owner had to go to work at that time.

While this was inconvenient we we were happy to receive an email from this website’s customer service in which they apologised for the property failure to accommodate us, told us that we would get a full refund and offered to book us another place. I called booking.com’s customer service to take them up on this offer but when i did, they seemed more concerned about apportioning blame either to me or the property owner they put me on hold and despite initially offering a full refund, they then sided the owner who told customer service convenient lies to justify their cancellation, all untrue. I was stuck outside for hours had to book a new place for the evening and because of all of this I arrived there just past their check-in times, but a keyless entry system—something most property owners have these days—meant I was fine. I have traded several more emails since then with the property owner all unpleasant. I would urge anyone considering this place to reconsider.

Extremely clean, well located accommodation. Very close to the center with great transport links while it was super quiet. Great value for the money. I would come back again.

A lovely, cosy, sparkling clean room. You feel relaxed. The area is close to the center, but very queit. I had a very comfortable stay and would book it again. Highly recommended. You hardly find something at this price.
