Awesome location and home. Weather was great. One night of rain and foghorn - Hurricane Ernesto passed by. The horn was not bad at all. Sounded a bit like a train in the distance.

The pictures on the VRBO site don’t begin to tell you how amazing this location in St. John’s is. We stayed 12 nights and never tired of looking out the windows. The view changed constantly, as the St. John’s weather is always changing. Amazing foggy views, amazing clear weather views, amazing sunrise views, amazing nighttime views. And… on top of all that the house is very well done, in great (like new) condition and is very comfortable. A home run stay!

Comfortable accommodation in a one of a kind location. No better spot to watch the ships come and go from the harbour. Close to the city without being in the hustle and bustle. And if you get caught out in the fog, you can just follow the sound of the fog horn back to the front door.

Hard to oversell this property. There are advertised ocean views, ...and then there is this property. Well appointed, clean and comfortable, it makes for a perfect base to enjoy Saint-John's.
And you have a front row seat to everything that comes and goes through the narrows!
The property is very private, being located on a rocky bluff as it is. You do get the odd foot visitors who come and enjoy the spectacular views, but it's really not an inconvenience as yours are the only vehicles allowed. And the side deck is very private.
About the lighthouse and fog horn... they are both operational aids to navigation... it does add to the charm no doubt, ...but the fog horn can become a bit of a thing if you're unlucky with the weather. Ear plugs help some, but its quite loud (..
as it should be). The views and feel of the place more than made up for what was an, er, interesting first foggy night on our stay. We'd happily roll the dice on the weather again if given the opportunity though. The views are that good.

Stunning views, beautiful clean home with perfect amenities. The sound of waves on sunny days and the fog horn in the mist were atmospheric and oddly relaxing. Owners went above and beyond to accomodate us and make our bucket-list trip memorable.

Watching huge ships and small boats motor in and out of the harbour, being steps from the lighthouse and foghorn, looking up at Signal Hill just across the harbour…unforgettable!

The property is on a point of land that overlooks the ocean. Be aware that there can be fog there and the light house is right beside the property which adds to its charm. We had plenty fog and were serenaded by the fog horn. I enjoyed the horn, actually. It just becomes background sound even through the night. The fog is even a magical thing the way it moves! We also had beautiful sunny weather so stay for a few days to catch a variety of weather conditions. We enjoyed it all very much. The entry to the property is narrow so check in in the daylight to get your bearings. Beds were comfortable. Very clean.

I can’t imagine a more exquisite place to stay while visiting St John’s. The view of the harbor, boat traffic, the sea, gorgeous lighthouse, and the East Coast Trail a few feet from your door. The assistant lighthouse keeper’s home is spacious, clean, with comfortable beds and a full kitchen. Do bring ear plugs in case of fog-the fog horn is required when it is dense.

Being right on the point of the narrows was amazing. The view was breathtaking. The assistant light keepers house was perfect. Big windows facing the lighthouse and the water. A beautiful sight all day long. The home was cozy, comfortable and clean. I would definitely stay there again.

What a unique and special stay at The Asst. Lightkeeper's House. The space is so well appointed and cozy and it was a pleasure to walk out every morning and see such a magnificent view. Communication with the owners was very easy and we would absolutely encourage others to stay here if you're looking for a not-so-average getaway in St. John's.

First time to the Rock. Used the assistant lighthouse cabin as our base for 5 days of exploring the Avalon Peninsula!! Great location at the entrance to the harbour fun seeing all the boat traffic coming and going. Fabulous sunrises every morning!!

Incredibly beautiful place
I would 200% recommend to all my friends visiting St. Johns. The views are incredible! I did not want to leave the house for fear of missing out the views. The sunrise is epic! The first rays of light look pristine and the rays come right into our bed. I had a streak of good weather. I could spend hours on the deck searching for whales. Or we could watch the ships sail by or just watch signal hill from the window. It was thoughtful that the owners provided binoculars and hat to help with whale watching. In the night, the views of the city are pretty.
Indoors, the house provided everything we could hope for. We were living in a piece of history. The beds are comfortable and washroom has hot water. Everything was clean. There were fun things to do in the city nearby but we wouldn't leave the place.

Fabulous experience!
Arriving at the property we were excited because it was such an unusual and interesting approach up the hill and alongside St John’s harbour. The view is spectacular and the property was close to everything - the city, Signal Hill and Cape Spear. It was fun to see whales in the distance from the deck and watch the boats in and around the harbour. Fantastic sunrise and sunsets from two different decks. Our hosts were very responsive and great to deal with.
Have already booked for next year. Thanks Peter and Nicole for a fabulous few days!

Perfect Coastal Retreat
This property was the perfect coastal retreat for our family. The location is simply stunning! The narrow, winding road leading to the property takes you past the local marina and offers views of landmarks including the Battery, Cabot Tower, and Cape Spear. From the front room of the home you can sit and watch the waves lap the rocks as gulls soar overhead and boats enter and leave the harbour. The beauty and serenity of the property is second to none. The home was well-appointed and very comfortable for our family of 4. The location is convenient and close to downtown. It was a wonderful getaway in our own back yard. We will return in a heart beat.

Scenic Gem
Peter and Nicole were wonderful and accessible. Their beautiful lighthouse keeper’s home offered us a glimpse of life on The Rock. From the foghorn (post tropical cyclone) and submarine entering the harbour, to the splendor of sitting on the patio and taking in the amazing scenery.

A wholly unique and special place!
This was a wholly unique and special place to stay while we visited St. John's. After 3 nights we were saying we loved the assistant light keeper's house so much, we wanted to stay longer! Beds were comfy, kitchen was well-equipped, the bald eagles greeted us upon arrival, and the views of the bay were exceptional. Books, puzzles and local brochures were all there for our enjoyment. Hosts were helpful and responsive. I could go on and on, and there would still be more positive things to say. Thanks so much for your hospitality!
