Only the location was liked.

Hotel did not have Bookings.com notification of my confirmed booking. Could not check-in. Reception told me to ‘go away, we can’t help you’ and that I must contact Bookings.com to find out what went wrong. Only when I refused and threatened to phone the police did they continue investigating. At check-out after 4 nights they had still not received bookings.com confirmation of booking. Kitchen is not fully equipped even after asking for items. Sink leaks on floor. Bedroom aircon faulty. Electrical fault at bedroom window. Cleaning service is poor as they only empty dustbins & replace towels. They don’t change linen or even wash items in the kitchen sink. Breakfast which I paid for in my rate in the building next door is far below standard and caters 98% to Asian tastes.

If you are considering staying in Nanshan area, the Clouds Apartment is excellent choice for accommodation as it's next to Shuiwan Metro Station, and it is a walking distance from Sea World area with shops and restaurants. The apartment is pretty spacious with open-plan kitchen and living space, bedroom and walk-in wardrobe for storage area. It offers all amenities for a comfortable stay such as AC, wifi, kettle, fridge and washing machine. Highly recommend if you are looking for self-service luxury apart-stay. The staff is very helpful and polite.

Difficult to point out negative sides - perhaps the only minus is the lack of utensils and any cookware in the kitchen. I read that you have to request these from the reception additionally.

The room

Poor in-room Internet connection, terrible artificial aroma in the lobby!

The positives- only a few. Room view is excellent, size is good, and the bed was the softest bed I have experienced in China. Breakfast was somewhat limited, but being able to pick the quantity of items was a nice touch.

Where to start? First, the location is nowhere near where the actual map is. Would be better to highlight the Shuiwan metro stop as being next door. The room, whilst spacious, comes equipped with nothing in terms of plates, cutlery etc. The staff, on a whole, speak little English and appear arrogant at best. They have conflicting information regarding the availability of services (paid or not) and despite still advertising access to the gym and pool, this is no longer the case. As this was one of the reasons we chose this property we were beyond disappointed.The Guest Relations Officer, Freda, and her manager Nelson, both fall well short in their roles. An email directed to them on the second day of our stay has still not been responded to some 6 days later. You will need to check your finance charges carefully, as they continue to submit charges despite evidence of these charges already being completed. The receipt you get at the end in printed in Chinese and an English receipt that was asked for was not supplied. As someone who has travelled extensively in China, this whole process was astonishingly poor. Do yourself a favour and book somewhere else.
