Breakfast was exceptional (and in a nice location) - crepe, eggs cooked to your liking, bread/jam, granola, lemon juice and tea/coffee. The bed was comfortable and room was clean. The air conditioning was wonderfully cold and there was also a fan. Staff were very friendly. Good location - close to a supermarket and walking distance from the center. Free water refills, and a bottle provided to reduce use of plastic.

There was no soap in the bathroom. A lot of mosquitoes (bring mosquito repellant).

description said it was in town centre but I would disagree.

The hotel was in a very quiet alleyway. We stayed twice and were lucky to have partial views of river. The breakfast was very good but served haphazardly. Fifteen minute walk to centre of town and river.

We stayed twice in different rooms. The first was rather cramped and needed some TLC and updating. The second was much better and both had balconies and views of river, but many do not have an outlook. Very little outside space.

The bedrooms have a lovely balcony to sit out in the afternoon and if you can request a room on the second floor you may have a lovely view of the old railway bridge. The location is good but I would recommend a motorbike or bicycle to get around easily. The breakfast is the star of the show in Cold River. 10/10.

Perfectly located to explore the city. 15 minute walk to the night market or 50.000 Kip per Tuk Tuk. Clean rooms with enough space. Nice breakfast with crepes daily and croissants on sundays. Staff is so friendly. We felt very comfortable during our week at Cold River.

The place is nice but a bit outdated. Charming location by the river, but keep in mind that there will be a constant sound from the nearby bridge, have your earplugs ready if you are sound sensible.

Loved the river view from room 19. The front staff and the owners are very accommodating. The breakfasts are very good. There is laundry on site. The hotel uses environmentally responsible practices with refillable water containers. The staff can organize onward travel. The neighborhood is quiet but only a 10 minute walk to the night market area. They kept pur luggage when we did river trip.

The beds are firm by North American standards.

We requested the hairdryer as it was listed on booking and the landlady went to buy one upon request. Flexibility to change our room upon request. Breakfast is decent Lemonjuice is handmade

Its not a 3 stars hotel as listed on booking, but its a budget guesthouse. We booked a double deluxe room with Balcony for 49$, the room was on a ground floor next to the reception and breakfast area, therefore noisy from 6.30am. We requested to change room and we have been downgraded to a room without balcony (ground floor level). Dark, old as the other, humid and during the night the rooster started crowing. Its not a place to relax and being comfortable. The shower was set on saving energy mode so to have a hot shower we had to reduce the water pressure and we ended up taking showers with drops of hot water. No heater in the bedroom and a lots of air filtering from the windows and doors. In December it gets cold during the night. One towel was provided per person and within 3 days was never changed though. The building needs some refurbishment however the lack of a modern building could be fixed by providing the basics: a heater (not only ac) and a hot shower.

Location is quite and close to the Old French Bridge, making the trip more charming. Calm location. Breakfast is excellent! The bike is provided for free The Laotian staff is quick in response, I told him the shower hose was broken in the morning and in the evening it was fixed. Thank You! The French owner was very helpful!

The bed isn't that comfy. The hand soup had some smell. Compared to the price, you may able to find newer hotel with not much different price.

Good location! Not right in the centre, you need to walk not so far, and I like it! Quite street and I could see the river from my balcony! Very nice room! Stylish wooden furniture. Good laundry service! Amazing breakfast! Owners (nice couple) cook and serve by themselves! Crêpes are wonderful! 🥰 I enjoyed my staying there!

The Cold River became the one of the elements that built our picture of Laos. Perfect place to stay for many reasons: charming and very helpful hosts, delicous breakfast, close to the airport as well as to city center and Night Market. Strongly recommended!

The breakfast of fruit cereal eggs bread tea coffee juice is really satisfying, nothing to complain about

I liked everything here , my partner was sick but the staff and guests were all very supportive, this just made us feel safe , its not nice been sick on holiday but when people show a little empathy it speaks volumes of your hosts Thank You so much

Very cozy and friendly place owned by super nice French people who love pets as well. You have amazing garden and a lot of common place where you can spend nice time or work. Rooms are clean and quiet. I can only recommend and thank you very much for your kindness and hospitality.
