To my horror I two days before arrival discovered that I had accidentally booked for 2 nights with arrival one day early! All my worries evaporated when Alice Lu in Reception, and Gert Van Beek, Guest Relations Director, swung into Action and worked out a change of dates, which meant that I lost nothing and had to pay nothing additional. Thanks a lot both to of you - swift and decisive action very much appreciated indeed!
Tony Shan who works tirelessly to solve every issue for arriving and departing guests also deserves special mention. First he spotted a taxi driver grossly overcharging me and later helped me secure quick and reliable taxi bookings. Thanks a lot Tony!
Having been to Shanghai many times, this was my first time in this particular area, but it for sure will not be my last time, as the hotel sits smack in the middle of a quiet and private, yet very central and incredibly desirable area with many cozy restaurants and shops - just off HuaHai road and easily accessible by metro line 10.

В номере ужасный запах сырости(старости) не понятно чего. Номер был старый хоть и свиду выглядит хорошо.

Good spread but the cheese was not topped up daily after the early morning eaters took the cheese.
Room service in room 1607 was very good the auntie who cleaned our room was very good.
The gifts from management in our room were nice surprises. Food and drinks given complimentary
Could have topped up the breakfast cheese more regularly. The cheese could have the wax layer trimmed off before serving.

The management and staff were exceptional!
There was remodeling going on near the lobby but I knew that ahead of time.

Although there is ongoing construction in the hotel, the management and staff did their utmost to accommodate the guests. They made my stay quite enjoyable. I have been staying in this hotel for 15 years. I have every intention of staying there again whenever I visit Shanghai.

Staff was friendly although they didn't speak much English and nobody offered to take our bags upon arrival
It's a pretty old hotel and the rooms are small. Location isn't great either.

The hotel was clean and the room was warm and comfortable. The breakfast was pretty good - waffles, fruit, bacon, eggs, beans, fried rice, vegetables etc.
There was nothing in particular I didn't like.

The location and stay itself was very good, and I was upgraded to a ‘movie themed’ room - which basically just meant the carpet had movie reels on, and there was a sketch from a movie set on the wall.
I have a feeling that prices were inflated because of Golden Week - I’m not sure that it was worth the full amount that I paid.

Nice breakfast, comfy bed, Japanese high-tech toilet ('washlet'). Free upgrade.
It's not a new hotel, feels a bit aged. Movie-themed decoration of the lounge is so so, could be redecorated. There was a humming in our room, (we were given another room), but waited 25 minutes for the technician.
