GREAT location in Bird Rock right near cafes, etc...SIMPLE/CLEAN room..felt VERY safe even though there is no main lobby...LOVE that the bedding is all clean/simple white...price is GREAT--if you're ok with a no frills but clean/mod room in great locale then this is it

need a small couch or chairs in room (plenty of space for it!) and a garbage can in the room (only in the bathroom currently) and hooks (there was no where to hang towels)

Location was excellent in La Jolla. Restaurants close by as well as a bus service. The room was cleaned every day and the staff were very helpful. The head pool is great in very hot weather. Th main attractions of La Jolla are easily reached. The sunsets as seen from the beaches are amazing.

The staff was very helpful with a couple of special requests: a late check out, and some things that needed to be kept cold. That, in addition to a reasonably priced, modern, exceptionally clean, and well located property will keep me coming back!

Breakfast was not included. No kettle or coffee machine in the room but coffee was available as from 8 am in the reception area. We were given a room with a view to a wall - went back to recption to change the room as we were staying for 4 nights and it was very dark in the room. The lady on reception managed to find us another room with a view of the pool. On the 2nd and 3rd floor nothing available. Bus stop almost outside the hotel which takes you into the town of La Jolla or to the Old Town in San Diego where you can catch a trolley to down town - 5$ ahead -saves looking for parking space.

We would have liked to have had a coffee machine in the room or a facility to make hot water but it was not advertised that this was in the room.

The room was very clean and comfortable and the staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly always. We appreciated the coffee provided in the office area and loved the location close to restaurants, the ocean, shopping etc. I highly recommend this property!

Nice and clean and well taken care off

Love everything about the place. This was our 3rd time staying there and we are staying there again next week. We come to San Diego every other week for medical treatments for my husband and have been staying at Sands of LaJolla. We are very pleased every time we stay and will continue to stay there each time we come back.

Sands of La Jolla exceeded my expectations. The rooms are nice, the staff was friendly and the location is great. Close to restaurants, coffee, a great surf shop and a short walk down the street to view the ocean. Calumet Park is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel and has great views of the ocean and surfers in the water.

I didn't experience anything negative during my stay.

Room and furniture was very nice for the price and location. Checkin and checkout staff were nice and fast.

There was some homeless man hanging out the back hotel entrance (near the trash bin) in the ally way for two nights in a row. Couldn't park in the back of building because I didn't feel safe.

The place is close to a beach.

The walls are very thin. I could hear door slams and noises throughout most of the night. The receptionist lady was also rude and unpleasant to interact with during check-in. I asked how to drive my car to the parking lot near my room, and she did not even bother to answer.

Nice size pool.

The noise level from the room above us was extreme. It sounded as if the guests in that room were stomping, dropping stuff, jumping off the bed, etc.
