Exceptionally clean, great neighborhood, quiet and comfortable. I always have difficulty sleeping in a hotel, but the Urban Oasis was just like coming home. I slept like a baby feeling confident I was safe and in a welcoming environment. Don't waste your money on a hotel, this place is where it's at!

Excellent location for accessing the WV capitol’s complex. Host lives near and readily available.

Location was perfect, close to town and the airport. The home was very comfortable and had everything I needed for my stay. The local beer and snacks were a nice surprise. Owner is very responsive and was great to work with.

Alan's place is clean and comfortable. We were there for the Vandalia festival at the Capitol and we were within walking distance. Downtown is less than 2 miles and we had great meals. We also brought the motorcycle and took a few beautiful rides in the mountains.

Came for the US Cycling National Road Championship. Agree with every other 5 star review. The host made his secure garage available for our racing bikes, which enabled us to enjoy the whole living space without our bikes in it. I wish I’d had more time to explore the riding around Charlston, but the in-city roads were great and, for those who like a bike path, the Kanawha River has a pretty good one. Highly recommend.

We loved this place! Full of period pieces and comfort. We came to town to just see beautiful Charleston and cycle. It is close to beautiful paths on the river and by the Capital and downtown. Lovely old houses to see, and the State Capital grounds. Apartment is carefully appointed with everything you need. Bed is comfy, tv works great, nice linens, glassware, coffeemaker. Alan and Shannon are nearby- and met us when we arrived which was great. We stored our bikes in the garage, and that was so handy. Communication was good the whole stay. Nancy abram

This place was just as advertised and even better than expected! It was immaculately clean and equipped with everything we needed plus some. The vintage furniture and local decor is tastefully done and the bed is super comfortable. The host is available but we were never disturbed. We were very cozy with plenty of blankets, towels, kitchenware, etc., they even had chilled drinks and cupcakes for us with a note wishing us a happy anniversary. ☺️ It is a lovely part of town and we enjoyed exploring several of the many area attractions and restaurants recommended on a list in the entryway. We would love to stay again sometime!

Spotlessly clean. Very private, secure, and quiet. Comfortable bed with high-quality linens. Snack basket and drinks in the fridge were a really nice touch. Nice location to stroll the Capitol complex. Enjoyed an amazing dinner at Bricks and Barrels. Highly recommend this property.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Urban Oasis in downtown Charleston. We arrived in threatening weather and the owner was responsive to our communication to get in a little early. The neighborhood is full of lovely old homes with lots of character. We walked to the Capitol, State Museum, GoMart Park for a Dirty Birds game and felt safe and comfortable. It was a quick drive to downtown restaurants and the Capitol Market. The home had everything we needed to make simple meals. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom nicely remodeled. We especially appreciated all the historical and tourist information in the house. There were nice little touches throughout and on street parking was easy. Highly recommend.

Good place to stay in Charleston has access to everything around it with short drives

We liked that this place was very clean and well thought out. It was simple, not fussy and walking distance to the capitol complex. The garden was lovely. A good value.

My daughter who is 34 and 5 months pregnant came with me to stay at Urban Oasis. When we got inside and started to unpack everything my daughter noticed a tray on the coffee table that had a lot of dead small worms or something like that. I tried to get ahold of the host and didn’t get a response. We decided since no one responded to me that we would give it a chance. We went to meet family Friday evening and came back and put leftovers in the fridge. Later when my daughter went to eat leftovers she went to take a shower and then went into the kitchen to get a water and noticed where she left the empty to go box on the counter suddenly was the empty box and counter was a a lot of black ants crawling everywhere. I took the disinfect that was under the kitchen sink and cleaned the sinks and counters. We decided not to eat in there again and saw several ants on the counter so there’s obviously an infestation inside the walls with ants. All the food we brought and put in the fridge we decided not to eat it in there and bagged it all up in the kitchen trash can. The bedding was very uncomfortable and the blankets smelled musty and made my daughter very nauseous. We are not complainers unless something is really bad to leave this kind of review. We were excited about the trip and staying there only to be disappointed when we couldn’t reach anyone about the bugs that were the biggest problem. Please clean and exterminate so this doesn’t happen to future guests. Could be much better

Stayed here for our 47th anniversary. Alan recommended a restaurant and helped us with the reservations. Toured the Capital and State Museum, a short walk away. We also checked out the Regatta downtown by shuttle bus. Overall it was an excellent stay.

Stayed here to attend soccer tournament in Charleston, WV. Great location in a nice neighborhood, just 1/2 mile from capital and 1 mile from downtown where the bars and restaurants are located. You have to park your car on the street and walk down their driveway to the apartment located above their garage. Street parking was plentiful and easy. There are motion lights up the stairs and at the entrance. Their place is very well accommodated for visitors with a few snacks located in the kitchen to plenty of towels in the bathroom. And the shower, though small, has a large rain shower head with plenty of pressure. Enjoyed our stay and would use again.
