Great location; a quick walk to the beach. Very quiet, too. Will stay here again.

Alfred was great. The fact that the room had no water pressure and no table, was not great. Either have to eat in bed or on floor

Was an excellent place to rest

We liked the location as it was quieter being away from La Jolla and Pacific Beach. It's a motel and even though they've updated interior it's already showing wear. The staff were great!

Good location; close to beach tho traffic noise wasn’t great. Amenities okay but rooms felt claustrophobic, especially the ground floor accommodation.

The property is has limited parking and the walls are thin. We could hear everyone's conversations as they walked down the hallway and the foot steps above us. The staff were friendly. Be aware your room is only cleaned every other day.

Room was very big which was a nice surprise. It’s a motel, has a small pool, a couple of bikes available for rent. We had no issues.

La Shoal is a hidden gem in La Jolla. The beds, amenities, and offerings are top notch. Rooms are spacious for my young children to run around and get the wiggles out. The staff was welcoming and helpful. Thank you for the hospitality!!

New and remodeled rooms with Boutique hotel style interior. Very friendly staff. Absolutely gorgeous location in La Jolla with 4min walk from the beach. We loved it!

Great location very close to the beach. Rooms have been updated. Staff are nice. Our room was on the first floor right next to the housekeeping storage, which is very loud starting around 7am when they are getting cleaning supplies set up. You are also able to hear everything from the rooms above you, there is no soundproofing and the floors are hard so you can hear every step above you. If you’re a light sleeper be aware of this. I got earplugs the second night and was able to sleep better. Water pressure in the shower is very low and sometimes only heats up to a lukewarm temperature. There was also sand all over the shower floor when we got there and a small amount in the bed. None of the countertops were cleaned; there were stains from glasses and crumbs on the bedside tables. There were also smudges on the mirrors. Just wasn’t as clean as I’d hoped it would be. We paid $240/night & parking is an additional $15/night. If you’re planning on staying here I would ask for a room on the top floor at the back of the building.

Close to the beach and restaurants.

It’s renovated but it’s still a motel. The bathrooms have stick on hooks on the wall for towels and no handle on the sliding bathroom door. It’s very basic. Seems overpriced for what it is. Also, the parking is “first come first served” which means by 9pm there are no spaces left and you have to ask to have the parking fee removed from your bill. No daily housekeeping either.

Everything looks asome

You get what you pay for I guess. Rooms overlook a busy road. Parking lot got crowded. Ok for sleeping but not for hanging out, rooms are somewhat grim. Close to the beach but not much more going for it.

Paying for parking, never understand that

Our room was very clean and larger than expected. The beds were very comfortable. The hotel is is in a quiet location walking distance to the ocean where we watched the surfers with our morning coffee. Would def stay here again!

Nice place

The rooms just need some basic maintenance and cleaning. For example, the blinds and air conditioner didn’t work well. The bathroom sink and shower drain needed to be cleaned thoroughly. It was a basic room.
