A newer hotel about a 10 minute drive from the lagoon set amongst a scenic backdrop. Restaurant on site was fantastic as was the hot tub. Would certainly stay again if given the opportunity.

We had a great stay. Hótel is brand new, we enjoyed the hot tubs, sauna and cold plunge in the lagoon. Dinner at the onsite restaurant was good, but limited menu. Wish the hot tubs/sauna were open a little bit later, but overall, great stay.

My wife and i traveled the south and east coast and this was by far one of our favorite places that we stayed. The room was amazing and had the most comfortable beds ive ever slept on. The staff were very friendly and offered us free breakfast and drinks at the bar because they were still finishing some outdoor work around the hotel. We opted for the glacier view room which was amazing. Within the first hour of being at this hotel, my wife and i already made the decision that we are going to go back to iceland and this is where we are going to stay again.

Almost….. Pros- very comfy beds, gorgeous views from sauna and two outdoor hot tubs, helpful and nice staff, great sitting areas in lobby. Cons- For the price, you wouldn’t expect a lukewarm shower (water would not get hot), water in outdoor hot tubs to be 88 degrees for several hours (not bad if it wasn’t 45 degrees outside) and perfectly cooked meal to be almost warm and have stems and rinds left on the fruit. Almost got it…. Just needing a bit of attention to a few things to have this place worth the high price tag. Be aware there are no other places to eat and if you have special dietary restrictions you need to call the hotel restaurant ahead of time to plan as their menu is incredibly limited. If I had to go it again, I’d stay at an Air BnB in the area where you could cook and be in a better area (all views are gorgeous here).

This hotel is amazing. The hotel is brand new. The hot tub and sauna were in service for the first time the night I was there and they are great. Some work still is being done outside of the hotel, but it’s not disturbing. The rooms are big, with nice hardwood floors, high ceilings. This hotel has a gym, which was a plus for me. The hotel is a 10 minute drive from the Jökulsárlón Glacier, which was great to enjoy the icebergs and diamond beach. Breakfast is plentiful and varied. The best hotel I stayed in in Iceland.

This is a relatively new property. The staff were friendly, courteous and well trained. The property itself felt quite high quality. We went in with low expectations and were very pleasantly surprised !

Beautiful new hotel. The outside part was still under construction so I can’t rate the hot tubs. Our room was very nice, the main lounge and everywhere was very nice. The person checking us in and the bartender were great, every staff member we interacted with was great. Only negative thing was the e restaurant, we had dinner at the restaurant which was beautiful but our food was incredibly bland. There was no seasoning on my veggies at all, not even salt. Hopefully they are just ironing out the kinks since it’s new but both of our meals were the worst we had in our week in Iceland. And it was not cheap. But overall I would stay here again because of the fantastic location and beautiful hotel.

The hotel is new and very nice. There is nothing much else in the area but if you want to stay near glacier lagoon it is really the only choice but a good one. It is a little pricey and we were forced to get 2 rooms for our family of 4.

A very new hotel so the spa was not yet open, but it’s a beautiful hotel in a beautiful place, the beds are comfy, the bar and restaurant are wonderful, all the staff are so nice, we enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful hotel, super comfortable bed. Shower was wow. Restaurant really good but quite expensive for the servings.

Lovely place

We were assigned room 101 which is the corner family suite. The room gets a lot of sun in the evening and unfortunately, there are only two very small windows that open partially. The net effect is a room that feels like a sauna. We complained to the front desk immediately upon checking in, but they refused to move us to another room. Their technician was not on site and ended coming to our room 5 hours after we checked in at 10pm only to tell us that there was nothing he could do. The thermostat control was set for 18 degrees C, but the room at 10pm was 24 degrees C. The front desk came and inspected the room and agreed that the room was too hot to sleep in. They sent us 3 small USB operated desk fans which were totally ineffective. I guess sometimes compromises need to be made, but at $1,000 per night, I would expect to be able to sleep and not just enjoy the breakfast buffet. If you are traveling during the summer season, and the day is warm, please ensure you are not staying on the side facing the sun in the evening.

The hotel is brand new and our one night stay was great with a beautiful view! We had dinner at the onsite restaurant. The menu is comparable to high-end restaurants and our dinner was delicious. Because the hotel is still in its opening stages, they offer one complimentary welcome drink and free breakfast buffet of which the layout is fabulous. Recommend the stay!!

Absolutely outstanding hotel! Great staff, lovely facilities and in the middle of nowhere! The breakfast was an awesome offering in buffet style. Love this hotel and will happily return when we’re next here!

Amazing and new property very close to the glacier — very big rooms and amazing facilities including a full dining resturant and bar

I see geeat potential based on proximity to Skatfell and Glacier lagoon. The view is spectacular and the high ceilings and high end finishes were beuariful. However, at the timw of our visit, the hot tub and/or sauna facilities were not yet complete, there were some flickering lights in the bathroom and the fire alarm went off at midnight. They offered compensatory free breakfast and welcome beverage but honestly, for the extreme luxury price the breakfast should already be included and they will have to improve the offerings within the breakfast. The buffet at the Stracta in Hella was vastly superior in a much simpler hotel. We had dinner there one night and once again the food was ok...but no exceptional. We had the lamb and it was a bit overdone with a sauce on the salty side. This hotel has huge potential...but they arent there yet.

A magical place to stay in the heart of glacier country.

The hotel was incredible! It felt very luxurious. The family suite was a great size for 4 of us and the bathroom was so nice we took pictures to renovate our own house. We found the staff incredibly helpful for helping us book a boat tour of the Diamond Beach. The breakfast was great too!

Unique location, amazing service

Very Clean , Hotel is only month old. Our daughter had food allergies, staff was very helpful and went out of their way to prepare food for her.

Hotel had been opened for a month, so the property was new and clean. The hotel staff was very helpful. The breakfast buffet was amazing.

Simply amazing

The hotel is absolutely beautiful! It was only one month old when we stayed. The staff is very friendly, the rooms and beds are comfy, it’s not too big so getting around is easy. Their restaurant is top notch! Only recommendation is to fix the bathroom lights…in order to save electricity If there is no motion they go off which is hard for doing your hair, make up, or shaving. It’s very expensive but if you want a treat it is minutes away from the diamond beach and glaciers…breathtaking views you must stay here. Oh and excellent breakfast buffet which is included.

Beautiful Hotel

Luxurious rooms with a beautiful view of the glaciers. Very modern and tasteful decor all around. It is a new hotel, so, some construction work still ongoing but there is no noise (outdoor hot tub and sauna not yet ready). TV in the room was not working and toiletries were missing. Just ask and the friendly staff will help out promptly.
