Staff attitude and location

Excellent location if you like to stay in middle of where all action is. Club rooms were good. Hotel has three restaurants which serve good food. Room service was slightly delayed but acceptable considering hotel was running full and staff must have been stretched.

Housekeeping was slow.

I like the location, it is in the middle of town where you could find food and everything, walkable distance to botanical garden, the view from the room, overall look of the room. The one that I stayed at had an extra sofa and and a table. The curtain and all. The vintage type large glass windows and the view was so peaceful. The hotel is next to many restaurant. Very rich in food variety. You can find KFC and Pizza Hut at the opposite of entrance to the hotel and nearby Adyar Anandha Bhavan(Great for vegetarian items) and so many chocolate shops, Tibetan market etc.

I contacted the property to confirm and clarify my doubts regarding the stay. They kept saying "no problem sir" and then I got there and they said they can't help me. For instance, I said, I will be arriving at the property before the mentioned check-in time. I was trying to request them an early entry. The person who attended phone from the property said it will be fine and when I reached the hotel they said rooms are filled and they can't help me. When I mentioned about the phone conversation they kept saying We are sorry sir, We can't help you rooms are filled. They repeated the same answer for a long time and never showed any concerns to address my point on the conversation I had before. This one incident was horrible. Luckily somebody left the property same time and I got the room. Second thing, the walls doesn't have much noise reduction feature. The conversation from the corridor are clearly audible and not from rooms. Plus the overall appearance of room and hotel is really good except the toilets. Not that it is clean, compared to the room its tiny but clean, sanitary fittings had went off from the wall. Still I would say decent one but not as good as the room.

location proximity to charing cross is the only positive and the building has an old world charm

staff not friendly, service is bad and not worth the value for money. food is pricey, Wi-Fi is poor and hot water facilities is not good either
