Wonderful place for a family getaway !!

Beautiful property, at first I was alittle nervous about the house,first time staying in a rustic place, but the place grows on you and we fell in love with the property, had the best time,,, one suggestion is buy more adk chairs and place them near all the beautiful views, definitely comming back

The property was amazing and the house was quite impressive. My family and I had a great time, however the one MAJOR issue we had was that we were staying at the property during a heat wave and that was not pleasant. Although there were many fans available, nothing really helped much when temperatures were in the 80's and humidity was in the 90's, even at night. Our one recommendation is that a slim AC unit be installed in at least the great room, for situations like this. The listing did state that there was no A/C and that did not seem to be an issue as the weather in Lake Placid is usually in the mid 70s and not too humid. We chalked up our experience to bad timing and weather. Again, the house was very unique and the property was incredible. We imagine this property would be amazing in the Fall or Winter time. Also have to say that the property manager was very friendly, helpful, and readily available. Overall it was a great time and we hope to return one day in a better climate.

Everything was just as advertised. Easy check-in, proximity to Whiteface and Lake Placid town, amazing property and so much space indoors. We loved our morning coffee in the screened-in porch, our teens had their own hang-out place in the lower level and each had their own bedroom. Couldn’t have been better, we will be back!

This is a wonderful property with amazing views and plenty of privacy. Great for a large family to get together and spread out. We have been here in the summer and now the winter. Both times we have had a terrific stay!

This house is big, clean and well-kept. There is a ton of space and the basement was great for the kids. The property is huge. The care-taking was super helpful and responsive. The furniture and kitchen could use updating. That said, we had a great stay.

Spacious for a family and and clear instructions and amenities. On site manager was readily available. We all enjoyed all the winter options.

Our group of college friends with kids had a great stay at River Ranch. Due to COVID, we basically didn't leave the house and had a great time hiking, skiing, and sledding on the extensive property. We even had a full moon bonfire outside! The house although dated is spacious and has all the amenities you need. Frank, the caretaker, was very helpful too refilling our wood supply and providing sleds so our kids wouldn't fight over the two we had. I would definitely stay there again!

Our family enjoyed a beautiful Christmas week at River Ranch. The home was perfect for our family of eight adults and two small children. A big Christmas tree and holiday decorations made the home feel festive and welcoming. Frank, the property manager, was exceptional, keeping us stocked with firewood and the driveway clear of snow. We loved all the trails for skiing and hiking.

Staying at River Ranch was one our family’s favorite vacations! The house and property are so special and unique, we would love to make it an annual getaway for our family! Thank you to Frank and the entire River Ranch family!!!!

This is an amazing property with acres of wilderness trails, each with spectacular views of the ADK Tall Peaks! All the activities you can think of -hiking, biking, swimming and climbing- are all within a few miles of the property. Coming back to relax on the outdoor patio, grilling dinner and watching the sunset... this is the Adirondacks at its finest! Frank, the property manager is great and attentive. We will be back.

This place is amazing! Huge but very cozy, has absolutely everything you might ever need! Every detail in a house is in place, very well equipped and clean. We had unforgettable weekend! If we could -next trip to Lake Placid will definitely try to stay here. Thank you very much, Frank (caretaker)!

This property is spectacular. Close to the best things the Adirondacks have to offer! Walk the property’s miles and miles of trails, all leading back to the house. Stroll down to the Ausable River and wade in. The rooms are oversized yet comfortable. Don’t expect over-the-top fancy. This is the quintessence of Adirondack homes as they should be, comfortable but unfussy, a place to relax and simply to be. It is big, we had far fewer, but it would have accommodated up to 12 comfortably. The kitchen is well appointed, but again, comfortable and unfussy. Highly recommend.

This place is actually spread out in acres and 2 nights of stay wasn’t enough to explore this river ranch property itself! Bbq spot, sun room, game room to forest trails! You’ve everything you need if you’re trying to get out of the city! We had to do a late check-in and they were very accommodating to make our process seamless! Would def return again soon, and again!

We needed a house big enough to accommodate our family of 10 and this house nailed it. Plenty of room to come together as one and to allow privacy if desired. The grounds are incredible and the views of the mountains are insane.

Perfect home for a large family gathering or a stay with friends in this rustic Adirondack getaway. Plenty of room to sprawl out and enjoy the magnificent views - both in and outside of the house. We loved the expansive footprint and the opportunity for everyone to have fun at every turn - hiking, ping pong and s’mores by the fire. Highly recommend!!!

The house was perfect for our group stay and exactly what we wanted. The fireplace room and dining room were where we spent most of our time together when we weren’t skiing or shoeing. The proximity to town and the mountain are both easy and property it amazing!! We will be back to RR!

We all had a great time! Plenty of room for famy to spread out! The setting was stunning on 300 acres trails were beautiful to snow shoe and ski. The fireplaces were the main attraction!! Close to town and skiing.

My family and I visited in August and had the best time. The property is breathtaking! We loved walking the private trails with our dog, the views of the high peaks, wading and floating in the river. It’s just minutes from many great hiking trails. The house is full of interesting history and was very comfortable! Thank you for letting us share your piece of heaven! We’ll definitely be back!

My group of 12 people stayed at the River Ranch for a week in December. The ranch is huge and beautiful. We spent most of our time in the main room and dining room. The large dining table was good for board games. The downstairs room is also large, and has a table that's suitable for board games. The expansive trails around the property were wonderful for snowshoeing - we got rentals in Lake Placid. The views from inside the house onto the property are beautiful as well. If I plan another large group trip to the Lake Placid area, I'll definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for President's Day Weekend to ski at Whiteface. After a terrific day with ideal conditions, the rest of the weekend was bitterly cold so we ended up spending much more time in the house than we otherwise would. The house is a sprawling ranch with wood paneling throughout. The main area of the home is very large, and easily accommodated our large group. It has one of the largest fireplaces I've ever seen (including hotel lodges), and it is very beautiful with a roaring fire. There is a large picture window with a panoramic landscape of a large meadow, then forest with the mountains in the backdrop. It is stunning! The basement/playroom with TV has its own fireplace which is nearly as large. Otherwise, the house is more than functional: the kitchen is well-stocked for cooking, the beds were comfortable. The house is very close to the Olympic ski jump and quite convenient to Lake Placid as well. We would definitely return again!

Our multi-family getaway for skiing and New Years was simply spectacular. Sunrise and sunset in the great room are ultimately relaxing, we loved gathering there every evening. We are indebted to Scott and Gil (property managers) for thinking of everything, from restocking the firewood to giving great advice, often while we weren't looking. We expect to come back for the views, the quiet, the rustic warmth, and the stars in the night sky.

Our family stayed at River Ranch to celebrate our parents 50th anniversary and it was perfect for a large family gathering. It was a fabulous location with amazing views of the mountains and groomed cross country ski trails right out the back door! It is really a magical location in winter. The beautiful house has a great sense of history and plenty of room for the family to spread out. I would reccommend this property for family gatherings!

Our family lives on the West Coast now, but we were delighted to return to the beauty of the Adirondacks last summer, and our stay at River Ranch was special. The ranch has so much character, definitely far from a cookie cutter rental home... From hikes and runs along the property trails to trips into L.P. and to the aerial / jumping shows at the historic Olympic ski jump to watching a lacrosse tournament; there was so much to do in Lake Placid. We enjoyed returning to the peaceful environs of River Ranch, enjoying sunset cocktails on the patio while grilling our steaks and dining on the screened porch. The casual elegance of River Ranch is timeless and appealed to all ages in our family. We hope to return this summer.

My family spent several days at River Ranch with friends and we had a great time. It is a truly authentic Lake Placid home with a warm, old-fashioned feel. I was wishing we could have had it for Christmas! The fireplace is outstanding, everything was very comfortable and we just really enjoyed ourselves. There was plenty to do in the surrounding area and we are hoping to return again sometime soon. The owners were very helpful when we were making our plans and everything was as we had hoped it would be. I've told a lot of friends about River Ranch so we might be heading back again next year. I was pleased that we were able to bring along our two golden retrievers because there was a kennel and the garage, but I would have been even happier if we were able to bring them into the house!

What a beautiful ranch! There are lovely views from every window! It's set on 300 acres with the Ausable river running through the property! My family and I had a fantastic ski vacation at Whiteface and then snow shoed and cross country skied around the property! We also adored the charming village of Lake Placid. We're planning on visiting again this year!
