Just a good place to stay

The breakfast staff were lovely

We booked a deluxe room in a lovely period building,and they put us in what looked like a care home 1980s room which was very basic . We paid £268 for 2 nights which was discussing for what we got, and we felt as if we were conned.when we ran the bath there was loads of brown bits all in the water and no hot water . and when we went and complained they blamed us.,The management was unprofessional and even abusive verbally. Would not recommend,I would rather stay on park bench . We tried to speak to management again the morning we was leaving just to resolve it,,and yet again they turned it around and blamed us saying we was at fault it really upset me and my husband. We have been to a lot of b and b all over the country but the managers in this one are by far the worst I've ever seen

The staff, breakfast and location were fabulous. Resident English Bulldog Keith is a treat.

I think the walls might be a little thin as I could hear someone talking on the phone, however, that person was also loud in the dining room so don’t take this as gospel

Our stay was pleasant. The room was a good size and the breakfast was lovely with a good selection.

This 'deluxe king room' was booked as a Christmas present for my parents. It has sadly not lived up to expectations. On arrival the coffee machine was not working. This was reported and unfortunately not rectified. An offer of a coffee from the bar was made twice but still not the same as having access in the room. During the 3 night break my parents had to report a broken light in the bathroom, this was fixed during their stay. Along with the 'wobbly bed' - as the whole base of the bed needed tightening. Not forgetting the TV as that was also not working. I appreciate the majority of the issues were rectified but I feel the room should have been checked before my parents arrived. This would have caused less upset and allowed a more relaxing stay!

This hotel was very good for the three of us + dog. Comfortable and well-run in a Victorian house walkable (about 1 km) into the city centre. Nice bar and breakfast

Fantastic stay. Lovely breakfast and the staff were so attentive….. even gave our dog a sausage for breakfast every morning. Family room was superb and just 10 mins walk into a beautiful walled York.

Il letto matrimoniale è piccolo, ci ho dovuto dormire con mia figlia perché due adulti non ci stanno , equivale ad una piazza e mezza italiana , e la colazione non viene servita prima delle 8, noi che dovevamo partire abbiamo chiesto se alle 7 c’era possibilità ma no, siamo partiti pagando la colazione che era inclusa senza poterne usufruire.

Ideally located, we got an upgrade from our original room to a suite. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the breakfast’s were delicious.

It was far enough away from the centre to be quite but a nice walk into town. Comfortable and welcoming.

Very clean everywhere and very welcoming staff. Lovely bedroom and very comfortable bed. Parking was a definite bonus too and it was only a short walk into the city centre. Great breakfast and so much choice.

Nothing really, our only minor gripe was that the duvet was a bit too warm.

Good location. Cheaper than much central York accommodation. Lots of parking available though they do charge for this. Breakfast was tasty. Staff friendly.

Lots of steep stairs to get up to the top floor with luggage, no lift. I had a single room and it was pretty small, kept hitting my legs on corners of bed. Room was very clean but passageways looked tired/smelt musty. No shower gel provided (you could ask for some from reception but that meant flogging down and up all the stairs again!)

The property is in a great location to explore York and the staff are friendly and helpful.

For the price of the rooms the standard is just not good enough. The bed was broken and uncomfortable, there were no toiletries in the room, the decor was worn and tired, the bathroom felt like a student flat. Just not what we expect for £175 per night!

I liked the location of the hotel as it was fairly close to the centre of York. The hotel was also comfortable, well furnished and had good facilities, such as the breakfast room. In addition the staff were friendly and helpful.

This was probably my fault as I had booked a single room. I would have prefered a double bed. Next time I stay at a hotel I will book a double room. Apart from that there was nothing bad that I disliked.

Had a 3 bedded room which was perfect for our needs, staff lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was very good. Would definitely stay here again.
