Plenty of staff available for check in. Breakfast was ample and quite good and the woman refilling dishes is very friendly and hardworking.

The bed was against the wall on one side, which is necessary in a small room but uncomfortable when two people use the bed.

Hotel was good for the price, and centrally located in the middle of town, about 12 mins walk from the train. The room was standard, had a desk which was good.

My only real annoyance was that the hotel has some smoking rooms, so I couldn't really open the window without smoke wafting in from neighbouring rooms. The English level of staff was also low but that's expected outside of larger cities.

Very nice

The hotel is clean and in a great location. Located in Downtown of Ena and you can walk to many restaurants. It’s more like a downtown area and kind death at night, but the location is convenient.

The bed was extremely uncomfortable. It was like I was sleeping on a rock. A Fulton or a decent mattress would be better. Breakfast started super early and finished super early, even for a weekend, so we never had the change to try it.

Took the onsen bath by myself

➕ The hotel was chosen for the proximity to Ena station, two stations away from Nakatsugawa station which has bus connections to Magome and Tsumago. It is a highway hotel, but it lays within a 1 km. walk from Ena station (12-ish minutes walk, or 20-ish if you have rolling luggage). There are plenty of shops around and a convenience store nearby. The main attraction of the town, Hiroshige Art Museum, lays roughly in between the hotel and the station. ➕ The room was all fine, and decent in size. The price was reasonable. There was very good wireless connectivity, and a LAN cable for wired internet. There weren't too many plugs, only three, but the plugs at the desk aren't affected by the key switch, so it's possible to leave stuff to charge over a day. The window can be opened for ventilation (but there is no mosquito net unfortunately. ➕ There is a restaurant in the hotel, which seems to be decently priced. There are three vending machines for non-alchoholic and alcoholic drinks, and one for snacks. There are two sets of washer-dryers in the men onsen area, and i would assume there are also two in the women onsen area. ➕ The hot bath was very good. Breakfast, which is a good buffet, ends at nine, but fortunately it was possible to arrive ten minutes before the end, and still there were all the choices.

➖ The hotel is big in size, so washer-dryers were always occupied, had to wait for an open slot. ➖ The breakfast ending at nine of the morning feels a bit too early.
