I was impressed at how clean the toilets were. The place was comfortable, common area felt homely and you could sit at the window and watch the streets. The staff were friendly and helpful, recommended me places to visit. There is also a direct bus (A22) to airport!

The neighbourhood was very practical (laundry, food, supermarket) which was good and convenient! But there is nothing especially interesting nearby if you want to do sightseeing.

The staff is friendly and helps you to ease into hong kong culture . The people staying for longer term are from multi ethnic and helps you to have a good word with them and can help with boredom if you ever feel . Though mostly from main land China .

For people coming from curry based food preference they don't have water faucet in washrooms .

Clean beds and bathrooms. Nice common area to chill.

Personally, the location, and the size of the sleeping area rooms, but these may not be an issue for everyone.

Thank you so much to The Mahjong for a great stay. I don't have words to describe how comfortable I feel in this hostel. Iris, Yukie and Nicole are a great team and will help you in everything you need. The facilities are in good shape, the rooms and the bathroom are very clean. Every bed has a light and a curtain you can use if you need some privacy. You will also have a small locker for your things. The hot water in the showers works very well and have shampoo included. The common area is spacious and bright, I was very lucky to meet a lot of amazing people here. You even have a small library where you can find good books. Overall, is a very pleasant place, very chill. Considering others hostels in Hong Kong, I can safely say The Mahjong is the best hostel in the city. Personally is one of my favourites ever! Highly recommended!!!

Very friendly staff. Artistic wall decorations in the room. Comfortable beds. The place is easy to find. There's a lot to see in the neighborhood. They also give good restaurant recommendations.

The reception of Wifi is very poor in my room.

The staff are the best amazing kindness and go out there way too help u the friends I meet there also is special defo best stay I've ever experienced. Any information u need u get even with the virus they provided masks santisers and would put signs up too help u keep up too date with the latest information. It makes u feel better the place my second home for sure. Just needs more guests because it's Amazing place. 10 out of 10 for me. Hope the virus can go soon for these people so it can thrive again. I will be back there soon.

My number one pick in HK. One of the best hostels. A bit far from subway, but still good location.

The girls at reception were wonderful (special shout out to Iris for the top recommendations and help to the number of questions I had for her!). Hostel was super easy to get to from the airport (bus A22 stops on the other side of the road) and although there is no subway station close by, there is a vast number of buses that take you pretty much anywhere. Fun deco with a mahjong theme, super laundry service (by weight), free tea/coffee/beer and the occasional yummy baking by Iris. Bunks have a safe to store smaller valuables.

Overall the hostel was great, but maybe a few points: 1. I could feel the springs (or at least some metal parts) in the mattress. Got used to it after a while but not ideal! 2. Because of the hot, humid climate the bathroom and corridor did smell a little 3. The dorm door and safe would make a lot of noise, and each time someone would enter/exit and lock/unlock the safe it was rather loud 4. The LED light of each bunk was a bit too bright and would shine through the blinds. Perhaps softer lighting would be less disruptive for other guests, especially during sleeping hours

I think the mahjong is the best place too stay in hong kong. U always made too feel welcome by all the staff. They help u with many things u need and the information they give is always what u need. The place is so relaxing safe and clean. I always stay here when I come and always will amazing place with amazing people.

Love the shampoo and conditional + mirrors in the bathroom. Very clean.

No metro nearby. Have to rely on taxi or bus. For the ones who want to hang out on Causebay or Central side in evening.. it is a bit inconvenient to make the way back late at night.
