Absolutely everything - the food is fantastic, rooms supper comfortable and quiet and the service is flawless

It was a memorable experience that let us experience a very best ryokan hospitality in Japan which starts from the moment we arrived until the end of our stay. The service given was impeccable, special thanks to our lovely and friendly host, Ri-na! We enjoyed our stay very much and would highly recommended Gettouan to everyone!

Nothing to not like about

I have stayed in quite a few ryokans but Yufuin Gettouan is really different. When we arrived by car, there was a small party already waiting to shelter us from the rain. The lady at reception Ms 何 was able to converse with us in mandarin and explained everything clearly. A first time for us as usually it is a Japanese speaking person and we will just smile politely and nod our heads without understanding anything. Our server for lunch and dinner Ms 友永 was also able to engage us in conversation and the service was exceptional as was the fine spread for dinner. Room was nice and spacious with a private bath. The public bath and coffee room was also great. Wished I could have stayed longer.

Authentic experience and amazing food, shared hot springs are nice.

Very rustic. The hotel didnt inform us about the available public shared hot spring, only about the male/ female. We have learned about the shared one only later from the friends who have visited it before. The hot spring in the room is smaller compared to the other similar hotels. Thus knowing about the public one would have been nice.
