The room was big enough
Slow check in. No bathrobes, overpriced food and beverages. Low quality pillows

They entertained special menu for in room dining
1. The corridor carpet needs airing as they are smelly.
2. The Housekeeping despite request could not attend the room till 5:00 pm.
3. During breakfast it was houseful, the staff thus kept forgetting requests for hot water. They need more staff during breakfast time.
4. In room menu price is too high as compared to other Taj hotels in similar cities.

Location is good as it is close to SBR though slightly outside the city for sightseeing. Rooms are of decent size and breakfast spread was really good.
The rooms are extremely noisy - you can hear people talk and TV blaring from next door rooms. Staff needs better training. They were noisily cleaning rooms at 3AM - yes 3AM in the middle of the night. Though they were always polite their willingness to help could improve.

Taj Ahmedabad doesn't stand to its brand legacy at all. We had plenty of unpleasant experiences. Booked 2 separate rooms with 6 nights. Check-in was cumbersome. They didn't allow our 12 seater tempo on the 1st floor ramp/main entrance. The head clearance can accommodate a double-decker bus or a volvo bus. But they didn't allow it and, instead, diverted us to the ground floor entrance that was locked. The employee asked us to go through the outside stairs. We had a lot of carry-on baggage. Suitcases were handled by bell man. During check-in, the concierge insisted on seeing the airport entry stamp on our Canadian passport. We had saved all our IDs on the cellphone before flying, and the physical passport was at the relative's place. It took a while to convince him. No other hotel asks for this type of thing. Then he asked for full payment upfront for all 6 nights. I hesistated since never ever I came across such a compulsion. But had no option...paid full amount of Rs 1.33 lacs upfront. Then he lined us all in the lobby area and took our individual pictures for security reasons. All of us were utterly disappointed. We told him that this policy treats us like criminals. No other hotels have ever asked us for live pictures. They had all our IDs, and there were lots of CCTV cameras around. With our physical presence, why in the world would you embarrass your guests with such a shameless act? Highly unacceptable. The elevators and lobby area had a typical stinking pungent smell, and we experienced the smell all 6 days. Also, we didn't have breakfast on the first 2 mornings. It was a nightmare. Fish market on the 2nd floor elevator lobby. There was no space to even get out of the elevator and stand for waiting, which was 30 minutes. As a matter of fact, we never had breakfast at all for all 6 days during our stay. The first 2 days were overcrowded.

Request for extended check out was well responded.
In room facilities, example - On the day we checked in TV was not functioning. Later it was attended and issue got rectified. On the third day suddenly lights in the room started getting off and on constantly. I had to get my room changed from 1515 to 1226.
On 29th November when I was to check out, called reception about an hour prior so that I can settle the bill and move quickly. When I went to reception to my surprise bill was not ready. Counter was busy and I took about half an hour to settle the bill. Despite having informed about redeemed points from the AMEX CREDIT CARD at time of check in full amount bill was prepared which then I had to get it rectified. Didn’t expect such basic flaw at any property of Taj group. Some one shall look into issues highlighted for betterment of customer service.
Didn’t like taste of the food served in break fast. While the spread was quite large, main menu was constant all the three days we had breakfast.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Head chef Niraj at the restaurant was always so pleasant and asked about our day and plans and anything we needed.
The rooms were spacious.
The time it room cleaning took place was always later on during the day - late afternoon or even evenings sometimes. The toilets and cleaning was average. The toilet wasn't clean and the sink kept blocking and had smell which means the cleaning in the basin wasn't done properly.

Cold detached staff. This property does not give you a feeling of the legendary Taj hospitality. The staff here needs a lot of training and they appear indifferent at most times.

Very clean , well ventilated , very clean the staff were very friendly from reception to the kitchen staff including their manager, I really enjoyed my stay. There was a time I felt a bit sick the staff asked what I needed always provided. Things to my room. There was one particular kitchen staff named Arjun always remembered my names and the kind of breakfast I will like to eat and made sure I had it the perfect way I want it. Rocky as well so helpful. The chefs.
I can’t forget how the cleaning staff and their floor manager have been. When you leave the room you may find one of the cleaning staff members and they will be there to ask if you like your room if there is anything you will like The floor manager as well ensuring you are comfortable.
What stood out most was the Halloween themed dinner I was honored to be a part of it the team went all way out to ensure we have an experience. I almost missed it and Arjun invited me over to come experience something different I was blown away. I stayed there for 2 full weeks and thank you for creating memorable moments. The team at the lobby always ready to help and greeting you with smiles , reception team as well. Ke a leboga ( Setswana meaning Thank you )

We asked for King size beds in both rooms, provided in only one room. Check in was laborious, as rooms were not ready though we did inform our arrival in advance. No assistance was provided to the elderly people travelling with us with their baggage.

Break Fast and Facilities are Good. The restaurant and break fast staff were friendly and were willing to serve with a smile.
we were totally disappointed with the way we were handled by the staff at the front desk at check in. No usual friendly reception as experienced at other Taj properties. Staff lack friendly communication and professionalism especially at the front desk. we witnessed even other guests having arguments. . they seriously need to improve front office experience for the guests as this will determine whether we would come back to stay on our next trip.
