Beautiful hotel with amazing Cafe attached.

The king room was lovely but the stay was a terrible experience. Around 11:15 pm, my husband and I had just fallen asleep and were awoke by people outside our door talking and banging. Employees were trying to get the room door across from us open so other guests could get their things. The key was not working. We had to get dressed, gather our things and move to another room due to the noise. There was no manager available and we were treated poorly. The room we moved to was not nearly as nice as the one I booked. Will never stay here again.

This is not the first time we have stayed here. Between the other hotels downtown this is probably our favorite place to stay. We found parking the garage across the street, it was only $11. The rooms are spacious and clean, lots of light. Very nice bathroom. We would stay here again and again, thank you!

We had an amazing stay and would absolutely stay again. The beds were comfortable and the facilities clean. The only problem we had was ongoing maintenance with the parking garage leaving the garage to hotel elevator inoperable, which made it difficult to carry a toddler and her gear up to our car for our outing for the day.

The hotel was fine for our trip to the Iowa State Fair, but housecleaning and staff service could be better. Dinner at onsite restaurant was excellent, however.

This is a beautiful hotel that is woefully mismanaged. Our room was cleaned only once during our stay. Even after repeatedly asking the staff to clean the room, it wasn’t cleaned until we waited in the lobby near the front desk until we received confirmation that it was done.
Relatedly, the iron board in our room was broken and it took several days for the staff to respond to our needs. The hotel itself was beautiful, but it is unclear to me who is running the joint.

Historic hotel in downtown Des Moines. Area is decent. Parking is a pain as the hotel charges $33/night and the other options are street parking or a garage.

Awesome hotel with awesome rooms. Great bed great pillows and towels. Loved the hotel!!!!!! Super slow valet and couldn’t get breakfast due to super slow service. It looked nice but service not so much.

Hotel Fort Des Moines is a classic hotel that has been upgraded very tastefully. The staff is outstanding and the location is within walking distance of most of Des Moines’ best summer events. I highly recommend it and look forward to staying there again soon.

This is a beautiful hotel. We have stayed several times before. There is a parking garage right next door, it’s 10.00 to park for 24 hours. The room was spacious, clean, updated and quiet. Big bathroom and shower. Restaurants within walking distance.

Staff were always telling not my job, rather than giving the solution...Example valet not present and I asked the desk where or could she give my key to them she said she did not know... so i grabbed my bags and wait 25 mins to pay for my car to be parked

The hotel was beautiful, clean and nice staff. It took us 30 mins to get our car from valet which made us late to dinner. They were very understaffed for valet. The man was working hard, but there was just too much for him to do. The hotel was very loud. We were woken up several times by night trains, dumpsters being unloaded and other loud street noises.

Hotel and property was absolutely breathtaking! The staff was super friendly upon arrival and check-in was easy. My only complaints (and they are very minor) is that the room wouldn't get as cold as we like, and the pillows were too soft. Other than that, it was fantastic!

The service was amazing from the moment we checked in. I appreciated the texts during our stay to see if we needed anything. We also dine at Proudfoot & Bird and our Waiter Eric made it a wonderful experience. After we a few drinks at the speak easy to complete our evening.
