The property was in a great location with easy access to the centre of Stratford Upon Avon. This made finding food during our stay very easy. There is no car parking but the multistorey next door to the property only cost £20 for 3 nights.
The room itself was nice and comfortable. However, it did lack a fridge in the room. For the price, this is something we'd have liked to have seen. The room also had quite a few cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. Being an old building, this can be expected, but a quick dust before our arrival would have added a extra star to the review.
The walls are also very thin between the rooms. During our first night, we had an uncomfortable night's sleep owing to the couple next door...
The staff were very friendly and incredibly helpful. We asked for an ice bucket for instance to take to our room and they were more than willing to help.
Overall, if you're looking for a convenient, well located place to stay in the centre of Stratford, this is the place for you.

We were there to to the RSC and all the historical sites and this couldn’t have been a better place to stay. The friendly staff made it so enjoyable and the room was perfect.

Characterful old inn.
Easy short walk to RSC theatre.
Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice.
Be aware that stairs to bedrooms are narrow and quite steep, though the helpful lady who showed us to our room did offer to carry our bag for us.

The restaurant at this little hotel is outstanding! Check in was done through the register in the pub and it was quick and easy and the staff was delightful.

Extremely convenient. Lovely friendly helpful staff comfy beds. Great bathrooms but not keen on the squishy soap dispenser. All in all a great choice for short stays.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Room clean and had everything you needed. Desk lamp needed fixing/replacing - spring missing that held lamp up. Also, very warm in room, a fan would have been nice. Excellent location and value for money. Would recommend.

Not great, stairway too small to navigate with bags and smelled of toilets. I hoped it would be charming but it was just dodgy.

Great, historical pub and inn. Excellent location. Helpful staff. If you have mobility issues, rooms might be difficult. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Loved Stratford upon Avon and happy with Pen and Parchment.

view of the RSC theare outside the window, yet a really quiet room, no traffic noise at all. Room small but very comfortable and pleasant, with lovely bathroom. We will certainly stay again next time we are in Stratford for a play.

The location is great. Check In at the bar was friendly and helpful.
While I didn’t report it.. the toilet had evidence of a fulsome poop… flushed a few times and used my sani wipes. The room was quaint … I was worried about bar noise but the evening was quiet. I forgot a new hooded sweatshirt there, sent an email as but never did hear back.
It’s unlikely I’d stay again with other great options in town.

I was at a do at the crowne plaza . I used their parking and walked across the road. Very friendly greeting … nice room, good shower (over bath, but good) . Nice size room , desk , tv etc. was a bit early for breakfast but they went out of their to provide a smashing full english

5 minute walk from centre of town, very close to RSC. Excellent breakfast. Only downside was the lack of car park which meant an additional charge of £20. I sid check prior to booking that there was a car park. Hopefully the website will now show this change.

Although no parking on site. There is the opportunity to park in either of secure car parks to the rear of the accommodation. Also as my husband has a disabled blue badge the car was able to park throughout our stay free of charge. Accommodation better than anticipated and staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Would not hesitate to stay here again

The premises were sparkling clean throughout and the staff were efficient and friendly. The bar was decorated with Xmas trimmings giving it a very welcoming feel. Close to the centre of the town and riverside attractions. Well worth a visit.

Brilliant staff, beautiful room, lovely bathroom. Great location in centre of town.Terribly hot with restricted window opening, windows overlooked very noisy bus park with numerous vehicles idling outside. Woken by dustmen ouside window in early hours. Would be great in cooler weather with windows closed.

Very quirky with very narrow steep stairs to the room on first floor lovely friendly and helpful staff. Pub was good with a selection of food and drinks all readily available despite Covid restrictions. Only downside was lack of onsite parking and nearest car park adds an extra £10 to the stay per night. Just a pity the weather was grim and so much of Stratford-Upon-Avon is shut!

The price was amazing for such a lovely quirky hotel.you would pay at least double for one of the bigger chains. The breakfast was really good waiter service for cooked -even smoked salmon as well as pastries yogs and cerealThe room was spotless with a modern bathroom . Would recommend specially as it is si central.

We stayed on the 28th December as we were going to the theatre to see A Christmas Carol. Even though we arrived early our room was ready and were able to check in. A great service all round, nice comfortable room and all followed by a great breakfast the following morning. I would definitely stay here again if a room is available on our next trip to Stratford.

As a first-time last-minute biz user, this place was ideal on all but car parking.
Easy enough to use multi-story just behind but even better would be out front..hey ho.
The extra little touches like usb plugs beside the bed, easy to use shampoo dispensers, personal greeting and personalised breakfast table were really lovely! Great visit and will return again.
