Room size is great, especially for NYC. It is an older property, but has been maintained fairly well. Some age & distress showing. Was disappointed to see the restaurant & bar it says it has is a indian restaurant next door. Would maybe stay there again as I think the big room size was nice.

Our stay was comfortable and provided exactly what we needed. We believe we were overcharged and never refunded and hotels.com and the hotel are blaming each other so it has been inconvenience. But other than that, it was wonderful!

We come to NYC every year, and though previous hotels have been fine, we thought we would try the San Carlos Hotel for a different area of Manhattan. Loved our stay. Though we didn't really use the kitchenette, it was nice to have. For mid-town, the value cannot be beaten. We'll be back. The fitness room was adequate--suggest adding 25 pound free weights.

Check in process seemed time consuming. Someone else was checking in ahead of us and someone waiting behind us with only one person at front desk. Room was clean, but a little tired (dated). Room was quiet.

We found the location to be excellent - very easy access to several different subway stops and an easy walk to anyplace midtown but just far enough away from the hustle and bustle to be quiet and quite pleasant. Our room faced the interior and was very quiet. The room was wonderfully spacious which we very much appreciated. All in all an excellent place at a decent value.

This is a great hotel for your stay in NYC, OK rooms a little dated but size great and very comfortable with fridge / coffee machine. Would recommend to all.

We really enjoy staying at the San Carlos. This was our 5th time and once again we were very pleased with our room and the hotel. We see no reason to stay anywhere else when visiting New York.

This was my first time staying in the city. The reviews were very good and I was not disappointed when seeing for myself. The staff was very friendly, professional and very helpful in every aspect. The room was clean, spacious and even equipped with a kitchenette. The bed was very comfy as well. Wonderful stay and would happily return.

We had a great stay. I was out for business and brough my family. The room was big enough for everyone which is great and hard to find in New York. The service was incredible, anything we needed they had, and they were very polite. There was enough room in the hotel room to bring in a rollaway bed when we had a visitor for the day. I highly recommend this hotel

The room was spacious - plenty of places to sit. But there was no sheet on the bed, only a heavy duvet. So the choices were not be covered or be too hot (with AC settings down to the minimum temp). The pillows were lumpy. And ever-so-slightly smelly. Once you smell musty pillows, you can’t unsmell them. The mattress was comfortable, and the desk staff are very friendly. But the pillows, ugh.

The hotel was excellent.
The service and attitude of the employees at the hotel were great, the hotel is very clean and tidy

We’ve stayed here before with a good experience previously. Check in was smooth and the room was quiet (was an internal room on the 2nd floor)unlike before thus the 3 stars.
We asked to switch rooms upon arrival and were told they were sold out which worked out well as the room was quiet.
However things took a downturn when on our last night the largest cockroach I have ever seen was on the wall in our room (I’m not afraid of bugs usually but this mortified me).
Upon checkout we reserved a car through the front desk to take us to the airport and while we were ready to leave the car was not there. We ended up taking a Uber to the airport which was fortunate that one was available.
While we have enjoyed San Carlos in the past, we will NOT be returning

This hotel is in a great spot for walking and sightseeing. The people at the desk were lovely and the room was spacious and comfortable.

We enjoyed our stay very much. I felt that probably a restricted room service ( say sandwiches, for instance) would enhance our stay. I must say that, despite the aforementioned proviso, we would gladly stay at the San Carlos again

The elite suite has plenty of room. The rooms could use some updating. A little outdated but clean and our room was very quiet, which was nice after long days out in the city. Very convenient to metro, good restaurants & 5th Avenue shopping! The water pressure in our shower on 15th floor needs work. It was very weak. Otherwise good stay for our family of four.

Almost all of staff were very thoughtful and attentive. One of the bellman watched us drag our suitcases down the stairs while chatting with the recptionist. But overall a basic 4 star hotel.

Get better windows if you are going to put people on the 3rd floor. Front desk said they were fully sold out which wasn’t true and refused to move me higher up even for one night. Will never be back.

My first encounter with the front desk clerk was welcoming and inviting.
The room was actually beyond what I expected for my granddaughter and I.
We both were so happy. Both bellmen that put away an retrieved our bags while we saw a play were wonderful.
I will definitely visit again.

We stayed one night at the San Carlos and were pleasantly surprised how spacious the room was. It was very clean and had a nice size bathroom. There is a luncheonette right across the street which has great breakfast and its very conveniently located in the center of midtown. I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at the San Carlos Hotel many years ago and enjoyed our stay so when we visited New York again, they were my first choice. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The room size was quite good, especially considering many New York hotel rooms are like postage stamps. There was a subway near the hotel which was very convenient. We also had an excellent dinner at a restaurant near the hotel called Rosemary's.
The only thing I would say is that the room could use a face lift. But overall, we enjoyed our stay very much and would stay there again.

We had a very comfortable suite. Each space in the suite was roomy, well furnished, and clean. Daily maid service was a plus. The front desk and the service people were both friendly and helpful. They went the extra mile for the special items that we requested-thank you again. The location of the hotel was within easy walking distance from many of the sights we wished to visit. We highly recommend staying at the San Carlos Hotel. Our week-long stay there was a very pleasant experience.

I stayed here recently and have stayed here a number of times previously. Truth is I found the room tired looking and in need of some renovation or refreshing. Tired and bland and I was not impressed.
The location is nice midtown spot easily walkable to things in the area and very safe.
Not a bad place and very nice staff. Just think it’s time to spruce up the rooms and add just a touch more color.
