The resort is gorgeous. The staff very friendly. But they are short staffed. Calls to room service always got an answering machine. One bartender for full bar waiting on drinks, etc. Service was not at the level you expect for such a top resort.

Check in was complicated as the person operating the gate didn't recognize my name and only after buzzing twice were we allowed in. Property is beautiful but room did not have a fireplace as described and we could hear our neighbors making "noises" (yuck!). The nature walk with Brian is a must! He is a great host and this hike followed by a nice stay in the hot tub was highlight.

So, I don’t like crabby reviewers who nitpick on smaller issues etc. I read the reviews on ventana and they were mixed but I booked anyway. Here’s the deal. The area is expensive. I don’t generally spend 1100 a night on a hotel so when I do, I expect it to be top notch. This was not. I would have paid 500-600 a night no problem and felt like I got my money’s worth. It has beautiful views, nice pools, the room was good. The spa was really a check in place more than a spa. The messages were outdoors and excellent (at 200/piece plus tip).

Amazing grounds. Beautiful location. With the exception of the Valet and Housekeeping staff, all others act like a 3 star resort. Cant be bothered. Irritated at any requests. For 1500$ a night I would have expected a different level of service.

Exclusive. Well maintained. Keep up the maintenance and the trails management.

I was told years ago, if I ever wanted a romantic getaway, ave Rana was the right place to indulge in a splurge. My husband and I arrived here for our 3 year wedding anniversary and as soon as we drove up, we were floored by the service and outright beauty of the property. Check in includes a welcome wine and cheese (SO yummy) and our room was immaculate. We took a walk around the grounds and later soaked in the Japanese Bath House before dinner. Morning checkout is later that usual, so even one nights stay felt more than it was. We woke up early in that summer morning and went for a swim in both pools. It was only us at 8am and it was INCREDIBLE. Highly recommend. I can’t wait to come back!

Ventana is a beautiful well apportioned resort that was perfect for our parents only get away!

This is an amazing location offering everything you could need for your stay. My girlfriend and I went up for a weeks get away and were super impressed. The rooms were large and very luxurious. They have serval places to eat and swim in (would recommend the Japanese bathhouse) . Massage and relaxation were AMAZING ! Will be going back.

Peaceful, relaxing and dam right dreamy! The perfect getaway from all the daily pressures.

The accommodation was overpriced for a room with a view of trees

For the high price the service was disappointing. We were asked to text our requests. That proved ineffective as did calling the desk. I finally connected by calling the reservation line. After all that, the food from room service was mediocre. We were here 20 years ago. It was nice then. There is a lot of differed maintenance: water stains on interior walls, etc. We will not return. We heard “I apologize” way to much for such an expensive resort.

Enjoyed the resort and location but dining was an issue. Either overpriced or food on a tray with nothing in between. Bar was only open outside in the evenings we were there, with no heating so got cold real quick. Dining nearby was limited.

Very peaceful an well laid out property with outstanding staff.

Everything was perfect until the last night. We came to our room about 7:30 pm. To a constantly barking dog. I immediately went to the front desk and spoke to security. 30 minutes later the dog is still barking. The owners had been notified but were not responding to messages. The Security Team did not seem to have a sense of urgency about the situation. About 45 minutes later the owners of the dog came back to their room and the dog stopped barking. Dogs do not belong at an adult facility like Ventana. I have an extremely well behaved dog but would never bring to this type of facility. Very disappointing. To the management’s credit when I checked out the next day they were very apologetic and embarrassed about the way security had handled the situation and have offered a credit for our stay. Great job of turning a definite negative into a positive outcome.

No one mentioned Pacific fog! Could not see the view at any time during our stay. Without the view the hotel didn't amount to anything special

quiet and relaxing atmosphere with an excellent staff at night you can see all of the stars overlooking the pacific ocean the gardens are immaculate and the food was great. Wish the room had a bit more light.

Accommodations were even better than we hoped. The staff was amazing. The only recommendation I would make is to expand the fitness room.

It was fabulous and we will definitely be back. The staff was amazing at every turn from the front desk, to the bellmen, to the pool guy, to the wait staff- all friendly, smiling and terrific. The place was immaculately kept. The food for dinner was fabulous. The room was terrific. We felt like rockstars all weekend long.

As soon as we arrived an employee drove us straight to the reception desk, once there we were offered wine- complementary of course. The staff were super nice and polite. Our room and surrounding facilities were comfortable and clean. The restaurant was cozy and the food; just delicious. The hiking paths and hot baths were a big plus. All in all we will return. And the view of the ocean, wow.

Staying at Ventana was magical. Our room was both spacious and comfortable. Lying in the hammock on the deck was relaxing and peaceful. Our unit was surrounded by trees, yet we could see the ocean in the distance from our deck. The sunsets were wonderful. The night sky was a deep black filled with the most brilliant stars I have ever seen. Breakfast was especially memorable as it was held outdoors on a high ridge overlooking the coast about one thousand feet above the ocean. At night guests would gather early for drinks and take selfies framed by the setting sun. The wine and cheese tasting before dinner was a very nice event. Finally, our massages were fantastic. My wife says that it was the best massage that she ever had.

Peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. Staff was wonderful. Location great. Restaurant on premises was ordinary but many other restaurants in the vacinity. A shuttle at the hotel takes you to all restaurants in the area. No need to drive in the evening.

Everything was fantastic. Food in the main restaurant is average. Continental breakfast was excellent. Room was beautiful with very nice amenities.
