Great location, comfy bed, good cooked breakfast. Easy to leave a bag and quick check-in. Nice to get a warm chocolate cookie when checking in!

Shower was quite poor, poached eggs at breakfast were a bit vinegary and the coffee from the machine was unpleasant. Room was good but pricey. Only one lift was available and it was slow.

The staff is friendly. The location is perfect—it is only a 10-minute walk from the castle.

The soundproofing is the worst. I can easily hear the guests in the next room chatting. The carpet in the room is dirty; my white socks got colour on it when I walked on the carpet directly.

The location of the hotel very close to the castle and shops. We had a view to the castle which was really lovely. The staff has been fantastic very helpful and kind. Our room is as spacious and very clean.

Bed was too close to wall.

Location is very short walk to the Castle, and appx 20 min to the old city. Breakfast was perfect !!!

Very bad Smell in the room when we checked in , after running shower for some time it was more or less gone. Bathroom could be upgraded a bit, missing basic staff there like hanging towels to dry

The location is near many sightseeing spots, specifically places like Grassmarket Street and the castle.

Unfortunately, the double bed is too small. Additionally, they did not vacuum the carpet during our 3-night stay. The bathroom door is noisy when opened or closed.

Gym was tiny, coffee/kettle in room in a cupboard with no plug and no real place to put it. Versus other rooms I've had pretty small, functional, but you wouldn't want more than one person in the room.

The staff were amazing, went completely above and beyond, would 100% stay here again. Location is brilliant, and the beds are super comfortable, as well as totally clean rooms!

Comfortable Bar Area

No on site restaurant for evening meals , just bar meals. Poor heating control in the room. Water running down the windows do to lack of double glazing.

The view from the hotel window was amazing. Comfortable sleep

I felt the room definitely needed slight refurbishment, there were some stains on the Divan, few markings on the wall, it just needed a spring clean. Having said that, it wasn’t dirty, it was clean it just needed some finishing touches.

Excellent staff, great breakfast great location all in a good hotel apart from the room. The breakfast is excellent, and caters for all tastes, great hot buffet and service. We were both very dissapointed that not only was the bathroom useless in the room but that no action was taken by the manager.

The room we booked was a KIng Deluxe with views of the castle. This is supposed to be a superior room. The views were excellent, however the room was very basic. The bathroom was tiny and was not suitable for two occupants, there is absolutely nowhere to hang robes or towels, no hooks oir tyowel rails which means you have to pout your towels on the toilet whilst showering or bathing. In addition there is no worktop or flat area to put washbags or other toiletries. I was very dissapointed with this and it ruined what would have been a perfect stay. This was advised to the reception staff and we were told we would be contacted by the manager, but this has not happened. For a premium brand like Doubletree the room was definitely not a deluxe and should only be sold as a single room. In addtion there are no coat hooks anywhere in the room. The shower flow was very weak, unusable, if you use the bath you cant reach the soap dispenser! Who designed that bathroom? This was an expensive room that failed to deliver. Come on Doubletree this is very poor performance!

Location and comfort

Food wasn’t great. Room service was efficient and pleasant but food rather unimpressive no tomato juice. No bottled water. No lo brush and the plug in the bath didn’t have a great seal. There was a bath but only shower gel on the wall so I’m rode to wash had to keep standing and sitting to get soap!

I ordered 2x room services during my stay. One during the day which was excellent! I got a tasty toast sandwich with melted cheese and fries. However in the evening I ordered the exact same thing but, it wasn’t toasted, the cheese was old like it had stayed out of the fridge for hours and I got 1 less bread, I didn’t get any vegetables and there where chips instead of fries. I was very disappointed.

Room was fab. Breakfast lovely with a good choice of food cooked fresh as well as the buffet. Location - Seemed to be in a run down area, however only 10 minutes walk to the main streets.

The staircase leading from reception to the rooms needs to be decorated.
