The Surrey Hotel was a large, clean facility with lots of room options and services including a pool, small gym room, laundry, restaurant and bar. The building itself is very attractive, and there is a second building across the road full of motel rooms that is done up to look the same. We stayed in these rooms. We appreciated free parking and the proximity to the zoo. On maps I could see a park nearby to take my 18-month-old, but this turned out to be down a decommissioned rock-sliding slope behind our rooms, which then meant we were kind of contained to the room, which wasn't that big. Perfectly adequate for sleeping, but just a consideration if you'll be travelling with little.

I wish we'd chosen a room in the main hotel, rather than the "studio" motel block they have across the road. We missed out on adding breakfast to our booking as well as the use of the pool, and other guests used the balcony outside our room to smoke and socialise loudly through the night. Travelling with a baby, these factors affected our experience.

The staff were so lovely, friendly and provided great customer service. Great location, close to places that we have gone to see in Auckland. Our kids love that it has an indoor pool.

Das Hotel liegt in einer schönen Gegend. Die Stadtmitte kann man zu Fuß oder mit E-Scooter gut erreichen, wenn man etwas Zeit hat. Das Zimmer war modern und praktisch eingerichtet, mit 2 bequemen großen Betten.

Der Pool ist wohl eher für Kinder als kleiner Spaßpool gedacht. Auf die außen angebrachte Klimaanlage tropften lautstark die Kondenswassertropfen der oberhalb liegenden Klimaanlage. Ich persönlich mag nicht gerne Teppichboden.

Sehr hellhörig und man bekommt wirklich alle Aktivitäten der Nachbarzimmer live mit

JP on front of house was excellent in his duties and made the check in and check out of the hotel very welcoming. Location was excellent in terms very close to public transport and cafes, take away and dairys. The staff were always helpful and friendly.

I liked the hotel and the staff. I have no complaints. I would stay there again.

Breakfast was good

The toilet area smelt like pee, was pretty strong.

The pool is so unique in the centre of the rooms. Our room across the road has everything we could need even honey shampoo and soap.

All great! Wish the pool opened at 8 am like other hotels instead of 10 am. 7 pm is also early to close for an indoor pool. WiFi not great.

It was great that the 3 families were placed near each other.

The people above us were very heavy footed. But that is not you fault, they were just inconsiderate.

The location and cleanliness

Good location. Basic rooms clean and comfortable.

Location close to emergency housing so a few sketchy characters around

Staff were super friendly. Pub was great and the hazy was cheap as. Pool was great - would be good if it opened and closed an hour earlier both ways. Room was tidy. Best hotel ive ever stayed at - better than pricier options.

Inside has been renovated. Looks new.

Very noisy during night, some drunk people yalling and laughing around 10pm to 12pm as well as late check in people through the whole night until 1am, you can hear clearly through the doorway. No teeth brush and paste.

Location was great for us - and we were able to park in the grounds- although others had trouble.

Had to unplug the phone so I could charge and use my mobile in bed. No heated towel rail. Very basic stuff in room - no wineglasses- no forks if you’d got takeaway’s and brought them back to the room.

This area was nice, and seemed quite safe. It was nice to have private parking. The room was very clean and tidy.

Everything.

A small cutting knife would be very handy for fruit/bread etc but not provided for some reason. A small hot plate would be handy for heating up soup, boiling an egg or something would be a bonus.

Stadium is nearby.. Everyone friendly includ stuff .

Wifi was unacceptable. Not connecting & slow. Shower leaked and then there was water on the floor in the bathroom. Room key numerous time didn't work

The stains on the bedding and being accused of taking things out of the room when they had got the room number wrong

Staff were really helpful. We had two different room types booked over two days. They managed to make it so we only had to move to room next door. Much appreciated.

There were Ants in our kitchen. Also didn’t like the fact we couldn’t lock the door internally in order to keep our children from getting out the door.

The room was spacious and well equipped. Could have done with some sharp knives for cooking, though.

We couldn't get the heat pump to work, didn't try calling reception for advice, though, which may have helped.
