It was walkable to the centre.
No remote to TV, no WiFi. Staff said they would sort it, but did not.

A great family room in a good location just a short bus ride from Edinburgh.
The bin was emptied in the room when we were out during the day but no other cleaning done and they did not check the bathroom as we had no toilet paper. The TV did not work properly. These were small things. On the whole, it was a good stay in Edinburgh.
2.5
We only spend a few nights in the room. Lucky us.
Well the family room we stayed previously was a garage 🙄 with a " stanning " view to rubbish bins.

Located in a quiet and lovely part of Edinburg. A bit run down, but fully functioning and with a clever system to get in, and even get a spare key immediately when the first is locked in to the room. The room is as expected - wide angle camera lenses alway give an impression of more space than in reality. The bathroom could have taken away the moist air after showering, but that is not unique for these premises.
It’s i bit too thin walled for noise between the rooms, but again - that’s not unique for this place. The wifi was down on arrival in the afternoon, and getting the mandatory “we will look at in the morning” is just annoying. We are not really expecting a better service, but maybe we hoped that it for once would be better routines from a from a professional host. It is after all 2023, and even I can reboot my router at home from my mobile when I’m at holiday in Scotland! The only real complaint and concern was the alarm system and the facilities routine when there is a fire alarm. First of all it was lucky that I had not fallen asleep when it sound, because it’s weak and muffled. We thought it may be the next door neighbour that had an alarm. When rushing out it’s easy to forget to bring the keys for the room, and you’re locked out if it turns out to be a false alarm. But the real concern is that there are no direct connections to the fire department. When calling the service number for the premises, the answer was that the manager had been notified and that he would be there in approximately 20 minutes. That is a long wait when waiting outside with small children that has been pulled out of their sleep and are afraid and cold in the light rain. Since the alarm was not turned off, many - including the children - got more and more scared. A guest called at last the fire department that turned up after some minutes, but long before the manager. I will give the safety aspect a big minus since it’s possible to sleep through an fire alarm, and some more negativity since the backwards routines made the waiting outside in the cold and rainy night unnecessarily long.

Close to centre, cheap and what you need for a cheap stay in a city
No frills, very basic, run down

It was fine, a place to sleep. We didn't have any issues with no human on premises for services needs, though I think others did?
cleanliness was a 6/10, fine
Area was great location for us- Park was fab for the kids.
Comfort was 7 or 8?
Overall probs 6-8, so say a 7?

Loved the room and how managers handle guests requirements and offered to help with carrying luggage while checking out.

It was easy to get the key from the 'key café' and the instructions were clear throughout the whole stay. Access to extra supplies like toilet paper were easy to get.
I didn't realize how outside it was from the main city, but that was advertised to us and I didn't look into it enough. But, bus was easy to figure out and was not a problem for the stay.

close to station
the room was quite cold , there was an alternate heater which wasn’t heating up the room properly .alternate heater gave me headache when it was used and using the alternate heater all night is not safe. the wifi was very very bad, we couldnt even get a bar
when we reached our room we had to wait for 2-3 hrs for it to heat up.
it was terrible experience.
1.5
the room was smoky, the toilet stank of chlorine so much that it was impossible to breathe, the children began to cough from the pungent smell. I had to open the window all night and fill the gaps under the door from the toilet with towels so that the smell does not spread. That was the only way to sleep.
