The property was big and was aquipt with things I would expect
Their was damp in the house it absolutely stunk their was damp boxes on top the wardrobes even though I told the owner about this and she said their was no damp problem they have a yearly check witch clearlly is not true.the radiators at the back of the property did not work so we had to have the kids stay in with us because it was to cold damp and mould on the walls for the kids to stay in especially with the baby already on antibiotics for croupe .The plug was broken on the bath we had to get a knife to pull it out every time I bathed the children again I approached the owner about this she said the cleaner said it was fine and it wasn't the previous tenants broke it. This should have been fixed before any one else's arrival and it wasn't! The keys wouldn't go in the front door every time we went out you had to bang in in so hard to get it to go into the lock properly I also made the owner aware of this! I asked for a partial refund from our stay to be told she wasn't aware of any of this she was going to the property to have a look and would get back to me she never got back to me I have messaged her two times regarding it and still nothing been ignored absolutely discusting when paying almost £300 to stay for only two days! Still no partial refund avoid like the plague if you don't want to be cold and living in a horrendous damp vile smell and be ignored by the owners I don't often do reviews but this I will review on don't waste you money because you will be ignored pictures added of black mould this was just some of it and wet patches and damp all in the bedroom walls my partner works along side damp and plastering and he said the whole lot needs re doing ..... Also advertised as sea vue their is not see view it's a train track with about 5 lines on but I was told that it was ok because it's not public service train track it's only for steam trains I booked this property for sea views we did not get it ........

The location
What can I say about our stay at High Gables apartment 2? We got off to a bad start when an email arrived the day before our departure ‘reminding’ us that bath towels were not supplied? That was a first. After a protest the owner agreed to make an exception and supplied one per bathroom! The heated towel rails did not function so once wet – they stayed wet. On arrival we found a filthy hallway and difficult locks. The apartment was very cold and for the first 4 days we were unable to get the heating to work. The owner struggled too.
The twin bedroom was arctic and the beds felt damp. The duvets were too small, barely covering the top of the mattress. After a miserable night we moved to the double room, slightly warmer, but with a very old mattress with broken springs. Reading in bed was not an option as there were no bedside tables or lamps, nowhere to place a clock or a drink! The kitchen was in need of a good clean, the pots so grimy that we could not use them. We were supplied 1 ‘jay cloth’ and no scourer or even a tea towel. There was no ‘welcome’ pack not even a tea-bag or a pint of milk so after a 6 hour stressful journey we had to go shopping. There were no complimentary toiletries and no hairdryer. Having been in the holiday accommodation business myself for many years – I judge by my own standards and this accommodation was sadly lacking.
The owner kept referring to her good reviews, almost telling us to deny the evidence of our own eyes. I do think that the reviews may have been from before she took over the property as they certainly do not apply to it now.

Lovely clean apartment with everything you needed.
The enclosed patio area is safe for dog to run in and out freely.
It is in a perfect area for dog family. Park opposite which was lovely and a beach next door to park.
Dogs allowed on beach at all times.
There's a train track opposite which was lovely seeing the steam train passing, saying that its a lovely quiet area.
Restaurant,cafe in the park and 2 pubs that do meals by the beach. Dogs not allowed in but patio area outside and a covered area which dogs are allowed in.
Paignton 10 minute walk away.
Thankyou, will definitely recommend and return.
Communal passage needs cleaning.
Patio area needs some tlc.
Double bed uncomfortable, perhaps that's just preference.

The Apartment was spacious, had everything we needed and was in a great location. The icing on the cake was that it was dog friendly, which meant the whole family could enjoy the break. The info pack about the property and the local area was incredibly helpful.
There was nothing which we didn’t like.

The only negative was I felt that the kitchen could have been a little cleaner and horror of horror, couldn't find a corkscrew.

A spacious property which was well equipped .
The garden was handy as we had our dog with us.
Nothing to dislike but we would have preferred a larger bed in the main bedroom.

High Gables was a good sized accommodation, very well equipped and in a good location for us as we have family in Paignton. It was great to have such easy access to the park and from there to the beach. It was very safe for our little two year old granddaughter. There ws a problem with the drainage while we were there but it was dealt with very quickly and effectively.
As our trip was in November and the weather was very wet at times we would have appreciated somewhere to put our wet coats and shoes.The bedroom step was a bit of a trip hazard and should be marked to bring attention to it. Nothing was put away tidy in the under stairs cupboard where then babies highchair was stored. The door to the ensuite shower room did not fit/close. Meant to mention that one of the kitchen chairs was not safe as the slats on the back were falling out, and finally the frying pan was unusable, non stick very badly scratched. Perhaps a new pan supplied with non stick utensils would be good. We would say none of this spoiled our stay but feel they should be dealt with. Meant to be constructive criticism only.

Quiet, but convenient for town, cinema, restaurants and theatre, all used.
Loads of space for just three adults, with well appreciated full kitchen battery.

We booked High Gables for a family break with our dog. The location is absolutely perfect as there is Young's Park road just opposite, leading to Goodrington DOG friendly beach! The apartment itself is very comfortable with a lovely lounge, and a full size kitchen with all accessories, including a Krupp coffee machine that works with most coffee pods. Bed linens, towels, cleaning product all is provided in abundance. Rarely I have seen such thoughtfulness for guests in that price range! The property manager Irene, was also always very prompt to reply to any enquiry. We loved so much that we have already booked for next year!!!
The only minor issue, which did not spoil our stay at all is that a combinations of humity/plants can bring a little smell in bedroom 2. However must say that my son who slept in there was not bothered at all!
I would like also to point out to those who might have mobility issues that there are several steps to negotiate for access. If you need a ground floor with less steps, might want to look into Apartment1.

Perfect location. Goodrington sandy beach within a couple of minutes walk and play park too. We took buses to visit Torquay and Brixham and steam train on offer too! High Gables is situated in a nice quiet area but walk over the headland to arrive in Paignton town centre, the Pier and all the noisy shops!!! The apartment has 2 good sized bedrooms with kitchen/diner and a lounge with a big bay window. The bonus was the outside courtyard garden at the back.
A welcoming pint of milk in the fridge would have been a thoughtful addition..... a few tea bags ....

The location was brilliant! It was a beautiful short walk through the lovely kept park to the beach.Took 5 minutes! The apartment its self was bigger than we thought with everything you could need inside. Lovely outside area at the back of the property. Irene the owner was very helpful and lovely to chat too.😊

I liked the apartment because there was plenty of room to move around for me and my dog. The apartment was on the first floor which gave me some great views of the park, A steam train going past everyday and a small sea view too.
Nothing everything was fine and at hand for me to make my stay there great.

Great location .Not far from sea side and theme park etc. Great bus communication to get to Paignton Zoo , Torquay or Brixham and any other places.
Silicone fugi in bath needed changing or was partly missing. Easy to fix.

The apartment was huge and very well furnished throughout. Kitchen was lovely with great cooking options.
Felt safe as a lone traveller with the locks and garden area. Great to have your own parking state just opposite. Location of the park and beach was right there too.
The apartment looked great but the cleaning was haphazard as the toaster and counter has crumbs, the kitchen floor was marked and I cleaned it off. The bath also had something dripped over it so I cleaned it to use.
I was surprised there was also a lot of dust although it said in the info it was deep cleaned after each use.
That was the only downside of an otherwise lovely flat in a great location.

Great space. Great location. The sheets and towels are nice. Cosy living room and the kitchen is nice to hang out in too.
The flooring was grubby and we think this can be resolved by investing in a better vacuum cleaner, especially if you allow pets.

Lovely clean apartment. Very close to the beach and park right opposite for dog walks. Brewers fayre do a great breakfast. The location couldn't of been more perfect. We have already booked to come back in Feb 2022. Irene the manager was brilliant excellent communication with us.

The location.... amazing... interesting with the trains ...perfect for the dogs...loved the walks straight from the door...also away from the crowds...

It was very clean and had loads of space you could easily fit 2 families in there as it has also got 3 couches one being a bed Settie. The bedroom with 2 single beds has got an on suite.
Everything it was n a perfect location opposite a park that leads onto the beach.

Great location with parking ,really nice size apartment and layout ,nearly everything you need for a stay
Hadn’t been cleaned properly ,there was no hoover at the apartment and clearly hadn’t been hoovered for some time ,there was dog hair everywhere and lots of things under the bed ,there was a 13.5 tog duvet on the bed and no flat sheet so in the summer this is far too hot so had to take the duvet out of the cover and use the cover as a sheet ,there was no clothes maid which was listed as included ,also no bottle of wine and flowers on arrival as listed too,1 towel each for a week no spares
