Our stay was lovely. It's was for my birthday. Room a little disappointing as the view from our window was a brick wall and the paper on the ceiling was coming away room 216.we also had a baby which we had to carry the pram up stair to our room. But wow the breakfast was very nice . Parking was a bit of a nightmare but managed to get a space at the back of the hotel.
4.1
Excellent check in service our room was ready at 11 45 am when we arrived. Lovely spacious room at the front of the hotel and a large comfy bed. Nice lounges to sit in and have a drink in this grand old hotel which is full of character. Breakfast buffet was good and checkout was excellent. Friendly staff . Hotel is ideally located for exploring all Harrogate has to offer and we will stay there again. Great value for money.
4.1
Check in took a while. No car parking. Only two staff at breakfast resuling tables not bein cleared, no cultery and pots, limited food available. Staff trying their best but nosign of management
Will not be staying again

Parking first come first served however parking spaces had been reserved? Suggested carpark full due to Conference on in town we had to park near railway station £15.60 overnight. Room very spacious and clean and had a good nights sleep. Plug sockets an issue only one that we could use double socket to close to skirting board so could get plugs in the socket.
4.1
Location & parking good. Warm welcome from reception but breakfast was very poor. Only eggs were scrambled. Furnishings & decor very tired. Is in desperate need of a refit but to be fair, you get what you pay for & it wasn't expensive.

So the ceiling was extremely squeaky and the person staying in the room above sounded like Nelly the elephant up there having trampoline lessons. It did disturb my sleep and I’m a heavy sleeper.

Really nice stay nice staff, loved & clean.
& they gave us some chocolates as it was our anniversary. We also had complimentary upgrade & complimentary drinks, as we have visited quite a few times.
The location is perfect.

Stayed before 1 year ago and was very satisfied. This year the room smelled musty and a bit like B.O. and everything in general is looking tired and in need of refreshing. Dylan in reception was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. He went up to the room and did his best to get rid of the musty smell. Thank you, Dylan. He offered to change rooms but there was no other twin room free. We were provided with a very welcome upgrade to an executive room for the 2nd night but again the room looked a bit tired but lovely and spacious and smelled ok. Breakfast was very good although whether the person taking our order was trying to be friendly/funny it didn’t come across well because she sounded as if she thought I was asking too much of the kitchen when I ordered both porridge and poached eggs (both of which have to be ordered separately from the buffet). But for the price I think smell aside this is a good hotel.

Our stay here was generally excellent. We managed to get a car parking space although it should be noted that there aren’t many space. The members of staff at reception were all very pleasant. Our room was excellent! I think we got an upgrade because we received a large corner suite with 4 rooms even though we’d only paid for a family room. The room was well appointed although the decor was dated, but in keeping with the hotel. The rooms were very spacious - we even had a four poster bed! The location of the hotel was also very convenient for Harrogate with the centre only a couple of minutes walk away.
The only negatives were that the bed was a little too firm and noise from outside the hotel could be heard due to the old windows. But otherwise we had a good stay.

Very bad, booked in for evening meal. People who did get served in dining room sent meals back as they were inedible. Walked out after waiting over 1/30 for meal ended up in wetherspoons. Breakfast in the morning was cold and undercooked. Hotel is very tired and needs a complete refurbishment .

I and my 5 other friends loved this hotel. It was reasonably priced, the staff were very friendly and efficient, and it was clean and centrally located with easy parking available. Old world elegance. The hallway carpet needed replacing, but all in all it was a wonderful stay.

2nd stay at this hotel. Parking is a challenge, we managed to get the last spot on a nearby street and paid on an app.
A private exhibition was in Churchills restaurant so they moved fpod service to another room. There were only 9 tables of diners but the delays started when they had run out of menu's. Service was very slow, 45 mins to get our starters. The food itself was lovely.
Breakfast the next morning was in the same room. It was very busy. Tables were crammed in and my hubby struggled to sit down due to the customer behind, thete wasnt enough space between tables. Staff werent keeping on top of clearing the tables.
Our Suite was lovely and we had no noise from outside.
This is an old hotel and its clear the decor needs attention. This doesnt bother us, its part of its charm
I asked at reception if we could get an extra 30 mins to checkout and was told it would be £20. I found this unreasonable as there were lots of rooms on our coridor to clean so there was no reason it had to be done spot on 11am.
First and last impressions count. I used the ladies toilet in the reception area and sadly it smelt from a lack of proper cleaning.
There are lots of hotels in Harrogate, im afraid its time for us to try some of them next time.

The initial greeting and service from the receptionist was outstanding. She was an absolute credit to you establishment and what an excellent Ambassador to your hotel. We arrived 2pm on 27/8/2024, i think i found out her name was Freya.
The room we moved to however, despite being a brilliant room, the noise from the room above on the floor and water was constant from the early hours of the morning.

We arrived and immediately clashed with reception over parking. She was incredibly officious and patronising and somewhat arrogant. This carried on with exactly the same member of staff when we check out when she attempted to double charge us. The bar staff were somewhat lacking too .. we ordered 2 baileys on our first evening they only had one, the barman went to “find” another bottle and came back almost 10 minutes later to tell us we’d had the last one, I then asked for an Old Fashioned to which I was asked if that was a cocktail he then proceeded to tell me he didn’t know how to make it. The following night again we tried a nightcap my wife again asking for a Baileys assuming they would have restocked, but no such look with this barman (.a different man from the previous night ) even saying that they “ .. didn’t serve Baileys”
The breakfast was a little below par too, on both days we found the several of the fresh coffee cups to still be stained and soiled. Some of the food was tasteless - the bacon for example, some was cold - the mushrooms, the rest was average at best.
Finally we get to the room, basically a square box with mismatched furniture including a very old style box wardrobe. The shower was very low powered and took almost 15 minutes to run hot and same with the sink taps.
However the rooms were very clean and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Also the ground floor and building are stunning and the location perfect. Overall we said it was tired.

Very good hotel.room was fine (very slightly dated but understandable due to age of building),staff friendly and helpful and breakfast was great!

No parking available on arrival, parked in nearby car park £13.50 for 24hrs. Room was well equipped with hairdryer, iron and board. Shower gel and liquid soap in bathroom. Ample towels supplied. Booked breakfast but we're not notified of times or where to go. 24hr bar. A great location so would stay again.

Fantastic 1 night stay. Room was spacious and clean. Staff friendly and welcoming.

This is an elegant older hotel with character. The staff were accommodating and helpful. It does need a bit of tending to.
We were very happy with our room but others may expect more modern convenience.
4.1
Disappointed that the hotel is really run down inside, with tatty carpets and old furniture. It’s a gorgeous building in need of big renovation, it’s in a great location.

Really nice grand old hotel. Amazing dining room with victoriana fearmtures.
Receptionist was very attentive as they had problems with the IT outage and the door fobs were proving troublesome. She personally escorted us to our respective rooms to make sure the door fobs were working.

The Crown is such a lovely old building and was spotlessly clean. Staff are very helpful and friendly. They even made sure we had a parking spot, all be it around the back of the building, for our two night stay. Breakfast was up to 9.30am, buffet style and tasty.

Lovely hotel. Everything was as we expected. We were lucky to get parking. It is limited. Great location for enjoying Harrogate

Excellent service
Brilliant room
Pretty noisy from room above due to creaky floorboards but not a fault of the hotel as it's an old building with character

This hotel is full of character and very charming
Don’t expect super modern but the hotel manages guest expectations superbly
4.1
Good central location but the hotel is very dated and the rooms basic. Breakfast was poor quality
4.1
Room was quite hot (during a chilly July!) even with the window open (due to the room facing South so got the sun in most of the day). Breakfast was good, service was great. No parking on site but parking available very nearby and cheaper than the hotel's rate. Will stay again next time we visit Harrogate.

This was an amazing hotel at an amazing price. Our room was very clean and spacious. We had tea and coffee making facilities with plenty of milk. All the staff that we met were very friendly. The breakfast was exceptional with an array of pastries, cereals and full english breakfast buffet. We also came back for lunch in the newest addition to the hotel called The Place. The location was absolutely superb. It is idea for families as you have everything on the doorstep. Valley gardens ia just across the road with superb facilities for adults and children. Many well know restaurant's are just on the doorstep. I would highly recommend this place.

Very comfortable. Large bedroom, lots of space. Larger, older property, excellent central location, easy to walk all around the town, limited on site car parking but public car parks very nearby.
