i had multiple people walk into my room and when i was changing as well. someone else was given access to our room and we were forced to walk out with all our belongings back to the main entrance from building 2 and only given a different room, no upgrades or received an apology. first day was completely ruined and they did nothing about the issue

It’s a great resort to stay.

Property was well kept and clean. It was a nice walkable area and fun to spend time with family. The cons, the staff in most restaurants seems lazy and not looking to work. Unfortunately they do the bare minimum and have to be asked for things, such as drinks and a baby seat multiple times. On another occasion, my wife stained a towel with makeup, which was left on the floor to be replaced. The next day I showered and grabbed a “clean folded” towel and the towel I grabbed had the exact same stain in the exact location. Not sure if it’s an extreme coincidence or just the exact same towel that was not cleaned at all! Closer towards the end of my trip we ran out of body wash, as it was never refilled. Another thing I will mention, which seems to be a common occurrence with “luxury” resorts, is what Ocean calls Premium Travel Club. It is the biggest waste of time and it’s a complete scam! They try to rope you in with a free gift, which isn’t worth the time. The package costs 17k and you are given 120k points, which they say is worth 7 vacations. The points can get you 1 of 3 different level accommodations. 1 worth 100k points, 1 worth 60k and the last worth 20k. They offer you a free vacation and then you pay anywhere from $50-250 a night per stay on top of the 17k cost of membership. They try to rope you in based on the fact that you’ll spend money on vacation anyway, but trust me this is a terrible deal. Also don’t go for Privilege upgrade because that too is a scam!

I loved our stay at El Faro. We were upgraded to El Beso, but to be honest all the restaurants and services were excellent. The slow river was great for the hot days and the food in each restaurant (including the bufets) was outstanding.

there wasn’t enough entertainment and room were smelling bad and every time we would go get towels they were out of it and so much to count

The property was good but came with many rules. For example, they have a three-level service option: family, adult access, and privilege. Each level beyond family comes with an additional cost. However, privileged access is constantly recommended to really experience the best amenities. For instance, you must have privileged access to have alcohol delivered to your room. Also, you need privileged service to access the dining facilities, or it isn't easy to get in. Lastly, to have breakfast delivered to your room requires privileged access. The cost for privileged access was an additional 60 dollars a night. It was overwhelming to continue to hear no when you go to an all-inclusive resort because you did not pay for the upgrade.

The staff is friendly only when you tip them.

My 4th time in Punta Cana and this place is the best, more than 7 restaurants, 3 restaurants a la carta you don’t need make reservations plus the buffet with good and variety food, and in the bars you can ask for absolute vodka, red label, Dewars, JB, and you don’t have to pay extra, plus rum and local beer, the red wine (tinto) was my Favorite, very good and included, if you want a very nice room ask building #9 the top, or regular room building #7 because its close to the pools and restaurants, disco club, bowling and bars, it’s good for Family, and couple. Enjoyyyy

Hotel staff are racist and do not speak English well. They were not helpful at all and all had a stand-off attitude. Food was very nasty & distasteful ! We booked a transfer through Destination services as well, they did NOT come to pick us up and refused to refund us. I will never stay at Ocean El Faro ever again!

We loved the decor and the way the rooms were set up but first we had to wait 4 hours for our rooms to be ready. That’s understandable because of the fact that check in was at 4 but I am eating from my experience of other resorts that give us our room as soon as we arrive at whatever time. So we waited until 4 but then they told us the rooms weren’t ready so we had to wait another half an hour until finally we got our rooms. The dinning situation was that they told us we could book a reservation from 8am-11am but when I went on the app at 8am on the dot they were all booked in every restaurant. We only got to enjoy one reservation restaurant throughout our stay. The buffet had decent food but it wasn’t that good and always the same options, they never changed the menu. The lazy river was filthy. You couldn’t even see your feet and I’ve never been in a pool where you can’t see your feet. The rest of the pools were decent even though they could have more lounging chairs. The beach was full of seaweed but that was probably the area. The staff were nice except in the buffet they didn’t give that much good service. We still had a good family vacation even with those minor problems. Would probably not go back.

Place is beautiful but staff very rude

Carlos (Carter) De La Cruz - I would like to highlight that name because he went above and beyond to make sure our stay was enjoyable. He made our restaurant reservations and checked on us daily for anything we needed. The rest of the staff were not as diligent to satisfy the guests. Therefore, it is because of him that I am rating this resort 5 stars in all areas. Another person that was really amazing was Hector Geronimo Santana. He drove my family and I several times back and forth. He greeted us with a friendly smile each time and was extremely pleasant to be around. Mr. Carter and Mr. Santana, if you are reading this, thank you so much for a truly wonderful experience. I do hope your leadership rewards you for your efforts. Hopefully they understand that it is because of people like you that their resort is able to compete and stay in business.
