The cabin is rustic, but clean, comfortable, and took my family back to a simpler time. What the home lacks in modern features it makes yp for with a gorgeous and quiet location. We saw eagles daily as we sat on the porch.

A great stay on the quiet side. Close to activities but far away from all the hustle and bustle. Fantastic place to stay.

This cabin exceeded all of our expectations , which were high given all the great reviews !!! It is so charming , well equipped , and in a stunning, private setting . We had so much fun relaxing at the cabin , watching all the ocean changes and nature throughout the day . Our kids loved going down to the rocky beach across the street and finding crabs ,we swam and kayaked and were so comfortable in the house and yard. Our extended family (aunts, uncles , cousins, grandparents ) were all staying nearby and we had such great memory making get togethers - my nephew is a pianist and made great use of the beautiful old piano!!! Definitely one of our best vacations ever and we will rent here again!

This comfortable cabin has gorgeous views from the covered front porch in every direction. The furniture was comfortable and the kitchen had everything you needed to prepare meals. The outside shower was great as our group of 74+ yr. olds preferred the shower over the claw foot tub. This location provided a peaceful quiet place while being close enough to easily access the manty attractions of Acadia National Park.

We loved this cottage. The location has a great view of seal cove, and a lovely deck from which to enjoy it. The house is bigger than the photos make it look, and just the kind of place we were looking for Kitchen is well stocked, and we really appreciated the pantry items. We hope to come back! Really suited our needs perfectly.

Very Scenic
This is a lovely scenic home. The location is awesome. Great ocean view and access. Saw lots of wildlife- triplet fawns on the lawn, an bald eagle sighting from the outdoor shower, porpoises and a seal while kayaking in Seal Cove. The property was very clean and had everything we needed. Tons to do nearby and in Acadia National Park. The owner was helpful.

Truly spectacular spot
We loved our stay! The quiet side of the island was truly the best – access to everything MDI has to offer without any of the crowds, even on the July 4th week. This cottage is in one of the prettiest spots on the island and is a quintessential old Maine cottage. Rustic, but comfortable and with everything you need to enjoy a great stay. We're hoping to come back again next summer! Truly a special place.

Seal Cove Cottage just as wonderful for our second stay
We stayed at Seal Cove Cottage for our second time a week ago and enjoyed it just as much as our first visit a few years ago. It is comfortable and quiet and peaceful. The kitchen has everything that I need to prepare meals, picnics, cookies . . . . The living room has ample space with different seating areas so the six of us can go to our own corners and be cozy with a book if we like. The beds are comfy after a day of playing on MDI. There are plenty of games and puzzles. My husband and son have started a tradition of playing cribbage on the porch and we always work on a puzzle throughout our stay.
The view is really gorgeous at anytime of day, even on a cloudy or foggy day. I like to get up before everyone else to have coffee on the front porch (with binoculars nearby to get a closer look at the occasional seal head or interesting boat). At low tide, our kids wander the tidal pools to find crabs and hermit crabs and snails. At sunset, we all head out to the park just a couple of minutes walk away to watch the beauty unfold. As we were packing the car on Saturday morning, a bald eagle settled on a tree on the property to eat a fish he'd just caught!
All the island activities are within easy reach. We hiked up and over Cadillac, went sea kayaking and sailing, wandered Bar Harbor and Southwest Harbor . . . Renting kayaks at Long Pond is a favorite activity and only a 10 or 15 minute drive. The laundromat in Southwest Harbor is very clean, only a block from shops and the art gallery, and I never have to wait for machines.
On the practical side of things, Barbara always responds very quickly to any questions we have and the Wi-Fi is really quite good if you need it.

Incredible Stay!!
We loved everything about this cottage and our stay in Seal Cove. We went into the park everyday as well as hunting for crabs across the street. This was the best vacation we have had in years! We hope to stay here again soon!

One morning in Maine!
We had a great stay in Seal Cove. I grew up on Mount Desert Island so already love the area but this house was out of a Maine dream. Amazing views, outdoor shower, great kitchen!

Quaint, Quiet-side Rustic Getaway
We had an absolutely wonderful time in this rustic cabin with a million-dollar view. Refreshing ocean breezes blew through the house due to the numerous screen doors and windows. The well-equipped spacious kitchen allowed us to feed our group of 6 easily, with plenty of elbow room at the large table in the main living area. The layout of the house, though it appears smaller in the photos, is spacious and quite spread out, making it possible for everyone in our tween-and-teen crew to have time alone from each other when needed.
Our kids found a new love for playing Parcheesi and other games, chosen from the multitude of things that were there for us to use in the cottage. We all loved using the outside shower!
Our hostess was flexible, great with communication and incredibly prompt when we had questions or concerns. One small issue came up with the tub and was attended to that same morning, with no disruption to our family or our vacation enjoyment.
Acadia is one of my favorite places on Earth, and were blessed with a wonderful week of fair weather to hike, bike, swim and go shopping in Bar Harbor. This cottage is off the beaten path, so even during a week in peak season we were in a private, isolated paradise right on the water.

Lovely, beautiful place
The Seal Cove cottage was a delight. The view is so beautiful, even more so than the photographs reflect. We also found the cottage more spacious than expected. The owner was very responsive to questions that came up. Looking forward to returning and staying longer!

Cozy cottage with great views
We spent a very lovely, quiet two weeks at Seal Cove. The views are gorgeous with islands and a classic Maine coast line with lobster boats anchored in the cove. Just a quick walk down the road is a picnic area next to some tide pools where our children found crabs, hermit crabs, and baby shrimp. And, yes, we did see a few seals swimming across Seal Cove. The house itself is cozy and rustic, and has everything that counts. It is well stocked with kitchen tools, games, and puzzles. We never lacked for any supplies to keep life comfortable and homey. We especially enjoyed the many windows looking over the cove. I was a little concerned that the water heater might not be able to keep up with six of us after a hard day of hiking when we all needed showers, but there was always plenty, even with supper dish washing. Barbara provided very quick, thorough, and helpful communication during the whole process of booking and planning our vacation. In short, this cottage is a great home base for visiting all that MDI has to offer.

We stayed at this Seal Cove rental in mid June, 2017. And, yes, the home is lovely and definitely full of Maine "charm"....the views are amazing, the kitchen has everything one could want for fun lobster meals, there is lots of room, the location is convenient to all of the great hiking trails in Acadia, and all in all, our stay was fine. However, while we were staying at this home, there were a few things which hindered my partner and my ability to have a peaceful vacation. First of all, we rented this place because it was advertised as being "private". Well, renters beware...there is a home right next door and during out stay, there was construction going on...this loud construction woke us up a few very early mornings and hindered our much needed vacation. We did approach the owner, and she was responsive. However, out of our 7 day stay, we were awoken or bothered by loud noise 3 days out of the 7. This added an annoyance and much aggravation. Hopefully, this will not be a problem for any other renters in the future. Luckily, the owner gave us a small discount for our stay. Also, the bathtub/shower in the main bathroom was not really usable, as it was not steady, and somewhat dangerous. Our experience on the whole, left us with some what of a biter taste for this stay. We have rented many places in the past, and unfortunately, this was not our favorite. With this location, and charm of the home, this should have been stellar....and it ended up just being "so, so".

It was rustic, as stated, and really fit the feel of our Maine vacation
The shower in the main bathroom, although new, was not very functional. The claw foot tub was high and hard to climb into, considering there was nothing to hold onto and the uneven floors. It also seemed shakey on the small boards it was mounted on. We ended up using the outdoor shower, which was awesome. The living room could use more lighting over the dining room and the fridge didn't seem like it kept things cold enough. Other than that, we loved the place and would definitely return. Check in was a breeze and had plenty of room for six adults.
