It was not as clean as I had hoped but it wasn't dirty either. The house had a terrible smell to it, which only started going away after we opened up all the windows. It was really old and seemed like everything was falling apart. Also, we arrived 3 minutes early and we couldn't get in. I know there is a check-in time but this is the first place that didn't allow any buffer for if people arrive THREE minutes early. I found that to be ridiculous. Otherwise, location was really good - no complaints there.

Pros: Great location for us, near Nehalem Bay boat launch. Nice home that fit our needs. Ocean about a block or so. Enjoyed the new couch and chair. Beds had great mattresses. Very clean. QUITE neighborhood.
Cons: We were notified the wash machine was not working as we were driving to Manzanita. I told manager this was a MUST for us as we intended to clam and crab everyday (6 days) with wet clothing multiple times a day. Management promptly told me that if I had read their policy if something like that happened they weren't responsible for making sure it was fixed during our stay...which was 6 days! I was hoping at that point, since we hadn't even check in that they would offer to put us in a different home. They didn't. Machine wasn't fixed or replaced during our 6 days. AND...there were only 2 dish towels provided, NO kitchen dishrags, NO bathroom small face cloth...so we had to use a bathroom TOWEL to do dishes and wipe counters etc. 1 sponge was provided that after one day cleaning up after clams and crabs was not sanitary enough to do further cleaning safely. This is our only complaint and it was due to poor management and not due to the house or property owner.
Suggestions: Though the mattresses were very good, the twin beds have a horrible squeak to even the smallest of movements. The box spring or bed frame or something needs to be replaced.
Overall: Loved everything except lack of kitchen towels, kitchen rags and bathroom face cloths, no wash machine.

The house was comfortable and clean. Having 2 bathrooms was a plus. A short walk to the beach and in to town. We were a block away from the golf course and wished we had brought our clubs! Very quiet neighborhood. Felt like we were all alone. Would definitely stay again.

Nice fresh clean house. I found the bed we used a bit too soft for my preference

We had a wonderful stay. Very relaxing and the house was perfect for us. My grandsons loved being a guest in your home. We will book again!

Though the grass on the lawn and the thyme were both dead, there was a bit of animal smell out front (on the lawn), but overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The house is set up for comfort and your not afraid to sit on the couch or spread out a bit.

Overall the property is fine and as promised . Two of the beds need to be replaced. They squeak and the bounce enough to keep the other person in the room awake

Stayed with my sister in laws, mom and two kids age 4. The property was close to the beach and an easy enough walk into town. Great stay for the price! Clean and simple with a full size kitchen and fridge.

Such a wonderful place and beach access is super close. Classic home feel to it. Only suggestion is updating the 20 year old beds. Super uncomfortable and bouncy. For the rest, A+.

Everything was very good. A cute downtown within walking distance. Everyone there was nice. Sadly, we could not do the closing. There were clothes already in the washer and the dishwasher was not being very co-operative.

It was in a very quiet safe nice neighborhood at least mid week when we were there so that was very peaceful. The couch was great.it was spacious and nice enough for the price. The beach access was down a big dune which was tough for my elderly mother but fine otherwise.
A hot tub or jetted tub would have been a great addition but we were happy to have a budget option

Great location, quiet and very close to the beach. Very clean, well maintained home. And great new reclining couch and reclining chair! Very thoughtful to add a turkey baster and pan for holiday cooking. Thanks for a very nice place to stay!

Nice location but the sofa in the living room is very hard to get out of. We had 2 plus 80 and 4 +70 and we all struggled. One chair on front porch has broken leg. One bed had no fitted sheet and the sheet kept falling off in night. Directions for the streaming TV would be helpful for us old folks. Nice old fashioned beach house but could use some updates

We had a nice get-away with fantastic weather! A Well appointed kitchen and outdoor grill made for easy home cooked meals. So nice to have 2 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms, too. We really had a great time; the only caveats are the condition of the couch; we sunk in so far it was hard to get out, and it was especially uncomfortable in between the sections as there was the wood structure underneath sticking up pretty far. Also, the mattresses in the front two bedrooms were also uncomfortable. But overall, a nice place to spend time!!

Lovely quiet house near beach
This house was a great location for a quiet get-a-way just moments from the beach!

Easy house close to beach
The only thing this lacks is a view. Otherwise it has just what you need: plenty of bedrooms/baths; a great room; big dining table to hold games and still have room to eat; good screen for movies! And it is so easy to get to the beach just two blocks away. I would definitely come back here and recommend it.

Beach retreat
The only complaint we have is that the couch is old beyond repair. Very uncomfortable and desperately needs to be replaced. It looked so comfy in the pictures of the house.
A little dated but no complaints really except the couch.

Short walk to the beach
The location of this property is amazing, just a short walk to the beach. The decor of the house is a bit dated, but we found it charming. Everything was clean and very functional.

Good value for the money
The property had plenty of space for my family, it was a short walk to the beach, and the neighborhood was very quiet. The only bummer was the full size refrigerator wasn’t working (a mini fridge was provided.) Also, little things like salt, pepper, cooking oil, coffee filters were not in the kitchen. What good is a coffee maker without a filter? We left these items behind for the next guest.

Sad
The location and price are the best things about this property. You’re stay will be better than ours most likely. The grass wasn’t cut and was pretty much chest high and the neighbors joked about not understanding why the owners don’t cut the grass. We received an email 4days before our stay that the refrigerator May Or May Not work. It worked for 3hrs and then completely went out and we were told that a mini fridge was the accommodation/fix. 3days No Fridge. We had 3 children and 3 adults. A mini fridge definitely wasn’t an option for us. A new full sized fridge was brought and we had to put it together (shelves, door handles) and the original broken fridge just sat in the living room next to the mini fridge. Ants everywhere in the dining and living room. We were offered at $200 credit that could only be used in Oregon and we’re from Texas. The companies policy stated they needed to relocate us or give us a full refund. They did neither. We stayed for 6days. We have all the pictures for proof. Your stay will probably be wonderful, ours was not. Very unfortunate, inconvenient, and uncompromising. My partner proposed and I said Yes, Manzanita Memories forever.

Great location -- some maintenance needed
We loved the location, but the house needs some simple maintenance:
-- Dryer bearings were worn out, and dryer only worked with high-pitch squeal (so loud it could not be run while we were in the house). Property management had it fixed a few days into during our stay -- a little inconvenient, but we noticed that a previous guest had noted it and it wasn't taken care of.
-- Two of the beds did not have mattress pads so the sheets slid off every night. (Mattresses are also inexpensive/super bouncy -- impossible for two of us to share a bed at night without waking each other every time we moved.)
-- A couple other small broken items that we shared with property management.

Warm house in fantastic location
My husband and 4 children and I stayed during cold rainy weather and the fire and wall heaters were very welcome. The contactless check-in was convenient. We loved being just a block away from the beach, and close enough to walk into town. There were only a couple of downsides, mainly that the linens are old and smelled musty. They could really use some new towels and sheets. I threw them in the wash, and discovered that the dryer gives a very loud squeal as it dries. The towels still smelled musty after washing, so we got out others that were ok. Other than that, the house was well stocked and was a great place to stay!

Cozy cottage
This property is nothing fancy, but was great for our stay. Full kitchen, front & back porch, quiet cul de sac location. The proximity to the beach is fantastic. An easy 2 block walk until you hit the sand, and then a short walk over the sand & grass to the ocean. It was so easy to come & go throughout our stay.

Great Beach Getaway
Our family enjoyed staying here in a quiet culdesac with a short walk to the beach. It’s an easy walk to town and a park with a playground. There were no spices in the kitchen and the house does need some updating but it was great place to come wth kids!

Winter getaway to beautiful beach
We had a great time in this wonderfully located home. It was a warm home near a gorgeous beach.
The house could use some more lighting in the main room as well as a lock on the second bathroom door.

Good Cannon Beach Alternative!
We enjoyed being only a two-minute walk to the (BEAUTIFUL) beach and a short 15-minute walk to downtown. The house had two full bathrooms and three full bedrooms, which was great for the two of us who both snore! Property was generally very clean, though living room carpets seemed less so. Very musty smell on arrival (as other reviewers commented) but that dissipated after we opened some windows. However, when I got back home, I was aware all of my clothing smelled musty, too, so maybe we had just acclimated to the smell! Kitchen was well-equipped, plenty of linens and extra bedding (blankets, etc.) and the small wall heaters in each room worked very effectively. Two requests: (1) in the entry directions we received on-line, the wi-fi network information was incorrect. Somebody wrote in the correct info on a piece of paper in the 3-ring binder on the table, but we hadn't yet looked at that and went through some unnecessary irritation. (2) you might want to consider adding directions on how to access the outside lock device that releases the house key. We struggled with it and then when we finally got it open, we - too (as others experienced) almost lost the key in the space underneath the deck, (The key falls out when you open the cover and drops on the deck, but there's a one-inch gap between the deck and the wall of the house, which the key can into.) As mentioned by other reviewers, the beds are out of another generation, but they were nonetheless comfortable! We stayed here because we couldn't find a house in Cannon Beach, and honestly we liked Manzanita much better. Equally or more lovely beach, good restaurants available, cute little artsy downtown area, less chaos and traffic.. We could still drive to CB if we wanted to, only a 15-minute drive away.

Reviewer Comments:
Everything was great, lots of heaters so nice and warm at the end of November. Lots of hot water and nice fireplace for enviro logs. The walk to the beach was quick and it is a beautiful beach. Very few pantry items, just FYI for planning purposes, only sugar and coffee filters. But lots of kitchen equipment and dishes. We had a great stay and we will be back!
