Double Happiness welcomes you to a beach retreat of your very own! Enter on the main level to a large entry mudroom with a full bath with a shower. Drop your beach gear here and walk into the wide open and airy kitchen-living-dining area. Cathedral ceilings and lovely wood floors with lots of windows invite you to take a deep breath and relax. This might be where you practice your morning yoga—or sip a beverage while curled up on the comfy furniture. The fully equipped kitchen opens onto a south-side deck/patio where you can take your morning coffee and gaze out at the huge evergreens while you relax and figure out your adventure for the day.
Gather in the afternoon and have a BBQ with your friends and family or take a walk down the steps to the firepit and enjoy S'mores and a campfire. Back inside, an open stairwell takes you upstairs to an open sleeping loft that overlooks the living room. It is spacious and L-shaped with a comfortable bed and futon. The same open stairwell takes you downstairs to the main bedroom and bath with a tub (no shower). You'll find the laundry room and an outdoor entry down here too. You have a choice: The open carport on the entry level will keep things dry or the enclosed garage on the main bedroom level will keep things dry and secure. Your car can pull right up to either one of them.

The views from this house were to die for. We were still able to walk into town or to beach quite often. This home has very comfortable beds and soft towels. Many household things included and we were quite grateful for them. We will definitely choose this home again.

This house is really great - it's cute, feels secluded, is close to downtown Manzanita and has a great view of the ocean (15 min walk, 4 min drive). It's not beachfront, but we weren't looking for that. We only used the downstairs bed, but it was perfectly comfortable and we enjoyed watching tv using the streaming services (the tv is smaller than we like personally, but is big enough). Although we only cooked breakfast, we were happy with the way the kitchen was stocked - both in pantry staples and in pots/pans/dishware/etc. We would definitely stay here again.

I really wanted to like this place… I carefully read all the reviews and was excited to stay at this gem. However, the posting makes it sound like you are very close to the beach with great views. In reality, it is located quite a way from the beach. You do have some views of the beach far off, but it is not close by any means.
The king bed downstairs really, really needs a new mattress. It felt like sleeping in a boat.
Problem with keyless check-in: when we arrived, the code we were given did not work, two other codes did not work either. We finally got in after two calls to Vacasa.
The next day, the code expired again, and we were once again locked out.
They advertise a wood oven, however, there were no fire starters or directions how to use it. A call to Vacasa did not help either.
And finally, there is a coffee maker, but no coffee… this is the first time we stayed in a place that does not provide coffee to go with the coffee maker.
During our two night stay, we had to call Vacasa 4 times. It should not be this hard to rent a place!

Home was very clean, comfortable, bright and in a quiet location!! Partial views of the ocean through the trees. Location is great and close to Main Street and the beach. FYI - Check in process is not traditional lock box or keypad and you have to pick up keys at the leasing office which was inconvenient and not well communicated.

It has a million dollar ocean view and solid bones, but either the owners and / or vacation rental company have scrimped so much on the things that actually impact your stay to the point where it significantly negatively impacts the experience. Given the price per night, I expected beds with comfortable mattresses, for there to be real beds and not squeaky old futons, and for the kitchen to have functional more modern appliances. On our first day there the old fridge didn’t work, causing some of the food we brought to need to be thrown away to avoid food poisoning. The rental company was kind and responsive in bringing out a mini fridge, but this could be fixed long term by investing in upgrading failing elements of the kitchen (a new fridge of this quality costs $400– a small fraction of the cost of my 4 night stay). They gave us not enough toilet paper for our stay, and it was truly the cheapest brand out there. It reminded me of staying at a $15/night hostel in Mexico. Additionally, it’s not safe for kids under 8 or so since it has wall heaters that get hot and cannot be touched. One of the two rooms is a loft that pictures well but it means that whoever is sleeping up there cannot go to bed until everyone else is ready to go to sleep and turn out the lights. Lastly, the contract they sent said absolutely no dogs so I spent hundreds on boarding my dog only to arrive at a house that had a sign inside saying it was pet friendly.

The house we rented is a nice, spacious house perfect for four vacationers. It is located in a quiet and nice hilltop area of Manzanita. We had a great tie the house is outfitted with everything you might need for a multi day stay. What would be a great addition / enhancement to the overall perfect place is a hot tub on the deck.
We loved the place and hope to come back in the summer.

By far our favorite Manzanita rental (on our 3rd trip to the area). Even in the rain, the view of the sea was soothing. The interior spaces are very comfortable, the kitchen extraordinarily well equipped, the beds and bedding and bath linens top quality. We planned to walk to town, but didn`t (heavy rain). The one clear day we enjoyed the trails and beaches in Nehalem Bay State Park and West Oswald State Park as well as Manzanita beach.

Charming, nicely designed and well equipped house. The site is peaceful with many distinct seating areas and a lovely yellow rose growing at the front door. The coffee maker was unique but there is also a French press and we used both. There are interior stairs and a wood stove so not a place for young children but it was a perfect place for the two of us. This was our second stay and we will return. We had a wonderful dinner at The Big Wave Cafe and an amazing breakfast at Wanda’s in Nehalem. Other favorites were closed on Monday and Tuesday.

It has a great location and view of the ocean through the trees so you get the best of both worlds. Very clean, nicely furnished and decorated. The bed was so comfy! We slept in the downstairs bedroom. There is also a nice loft with a bed but we didn't use it.

This home exceeded all our expectations. The kind size bed was incredibly comfortable, the deep soaking tub was luxurious, the linens (if mainly IKEA) were bright white, all cotton and so lovely. The house/kitchen is well stocked with items one might need and yet clutter free. Everything was spotlessly clean. Be aware that the beach is a steep 8 minute walk. The hike was good exercise for the adults, a bit of a stretch for our two year old, but all in all a welcome bonus for the paranoid as it sits firmly out of the tsunami evacuation zone. The exposed wood architecture is beautiful and there’s a view of the ocean from the living room and a bit from the dining room as well. I highly recommend!

This house has a nice view which isn’t emphasized in its description. I’ve stayed here two times. The loft bedroom is my favorite but isn’t as private as the basement master. There is a small house being built across the street which does not obstruct the view. The house was clean and had lots of DVD’s to choose from. It’s a hilly walk to/from town which I enjoyed. Sunset vacation rental staff were great.

The home was excellent as usual. This time there was building going on across the street (a new home), despite the holiday weekend. It was not excessively loud, just occurred around 8 AM when I was hoping to sleep! Those who are up by then would likely not be bothered by it. The wonderful view of the ocean remains undisturbed.

As mentioned in a previous review, the view from the living room is quite understated. The house was well-appointed and very comfortable. But note that there are no bedrooms on the main floor so if you have someone that is unable to manage stairs, this house might not work for you. Also note, the wonderful and spacious suite on the lower level has large tub only, no shower.

The folks at Sunset Vacation Rentals were very helpful in finding us a great house to stay in. D.H. was one of the best appointed rentals I've stayed in and the owners were very accommodating. Unfortunate that the local beachfront property owners will not allow access past their properties to the beach. I was also a little disappointed that there was a meager firewood allowance considering the daily rental price. Otherwise a great stay!

We loved our stay at double happiness. The house is light and bright with a nice open feel. It’s tucked up in a quiet corner of manzanita and was very peaceful. There’s a beautiful view of the ocean from the living room and yard. The kitchen is small but worked great and was well stocked with everything we needed. The bathrooms are okay. The master only had a tub with hand held showerhead. The upstairs bath is tiny! But the shower in that bath was nice.

The house was spotless! Because of Covid we cooked every meal. The kitchen has everything you need in terms of cooking utensils, pots and pans, etc. The bed in the master bedroom is exceptionally comfortable. We didn't like the bathtub with its wand shower. Water goes everywhere. It isn't a good design in our opinion. If you want to use the grill bring your own matches. The built in igniter doesn't work. We had a very relaxing time in a very quiet setting. There is an excellent view of the beach out of the picture window. The house is located about a 5 minute drive from the beach.

We enjoyed our stay at this light and airy house on the hill. The location is phenomenal, as we love being able to walk to the beach and restaurants in "downtown" Manzanita. I spent many hours in a comfy chair facing the ocean as I worked on a project. The only drawback is lack of privacy and bathroom in the loft, but that's the nature of the house. The lack of air conditioning was never a problem as there are plenty of screened windows, but if you're cooking be sure to bring your own spices. Much happiness to be enjoyed at Double Happiness.

This was the first time we stayed in this house and it was lovely. Some of the house appears to have recently been renovated but the bathrooms were a little dated. The view of the ocean was a very nice surprise! Walking to town is quite easy if you like to walk, it’s quite a hike down to the beach with distance and hills.
