A perfect location close enough to the action but yet far enough for peace and quiet on a great section of beach.

We rented the villa for a week and everything was perfect. 10 minute walk along the beach to town, a cafe right in front with great fish tacos (closes at sunset), and an amazing manager in Raquel (and cleaner Mari).

Location is close to the beach. The feeling is more like a family home and not a hotel. They have a nice outdoor area with a volleyball net, ping pong table, hammocks, lying chairs and umbrellas.
A bit further away from the center, but doable in a 10-15 minute walk. There is no safe in the room. Breakfast is limited and served at 9 am.
Additional suggestion - the cleaning/cooking staff could be more welcoming since they work in the hospitality area. That means welcoming guests when they arrive, showing at least a sign of wanting or trying to accommodate needs like storing luggage or providing tourist information.

The hotel is facing the beach and is located at a 5-min walk from the village. It is quiet. The room was nice and clean. Free water is provided.
The host was not very welcoming. The breakfast is very poor, they gave us half of a toast each, we had to ask for more!

Amazing location right on the prettiest beach on Holbox! The property has great common areas (terrace, private beach) that are shared only between 4 rooms. The price was a great value considering the beachfront location and the onwer and staff were very helpful!
The room was a bit on the small side

Absolutely loved this place! Casa Luz is more like a guest house than a hotel. It has a calming atmosphere and the staff are lovely. The beds are huge. It's beautifully decorated and has a shared terrace and sandy beach/garden area with hammocks and seating.
The breakfast was very nice- fruit, Mexican eggs, beans, coffee and cold tea.
There is a cafe/restaurant immediately infront of the hotel (not part of the hotel) which also serves great food and drinks. The part of the beach is lovely. We loved everything!
Just a note that you may need to call the staff to check in as they may not be there- but the phone number is on the door so it's very convenient.
This also gives the place a more private feel.

Everything was perfect. Casa Luz is a clean cozy house, you are directly at the beach and still have a private garden in front. You also have the upstairs‘ terrace with a great view which I liked very much. Raquel and her team are such lovely hosts, even when I had some trouble with my credit card being damaged. Please remember when you go to Holbox, it’s a small island. It’s always possible that electricity is down and that is not the fault of anyone, it just happens. Personally I will highly recommend Casa Luz if you’re looking for a sweet and familiar spot to enjoy the island.

Wifi has 8mbps but this speed can be achieved in night. Wifi is a problem on Holbox so i treat this wifi as good one.
i had king room so basically all 1st floor was im my command after 18

We absolutely loved Casa Luz! it has a real homely feel to it and Raquel was so lovely. the location is perfect, it’s right on the beach at the quieter side of Holbox but only a 10-15min walk to the Main Street. there was absolutely nothing we could fault about the property. I saw reviews that the lounge area was off limits unless you booked the room that had access to it but to be honest this didn’t bother us at all as we spent the days on the loungers in the garden or on the big terrace then went to town for dinner in the evening. breakfast was included and consisted of fresh fruit (delicious), toast, juice and coffee. We have stayed in a really fancy hotel on Holbox before and I actually prefer Casa Luz. it’s not fancy but feels like a family beach house and had everything we needed. Thank you so much for amazing stay and we will definitely be back!

Lovely to receive a cold welcome beer on arrival. Friendly host.
We were told the common area (lounge/dining area) on ground floor was out of bounds from 4pm onwards to give the room on the ground floor privacy. We were made to feel like we weren't welcome and confined to our room upstairs or to stay out (not ideal when we had a few days of stormy weather). If this has been mentioned on the website at the time of booking we probably wouldn't have booked here.

Very friendly host, small room but stocked with everything you need. Raquel (the host) gave very good recommendations for dinner locations!
A safe in the room would have been even better

The location was great . The hotel was clean .
The size of the room was very tiny . It says beach front but there is a restaurant just in front that blocks the view . The outdoor needs decoration . It was empty. The host Raquel was very nice and helpful however the woman who worked with her didn’t make us feel welcomed .

We had the Suite that was really cozy, comfortable and huge. The house is so beautiful, great terrace with ocean view and sunbeds.
Stuff is very friendly and helpful. Its not in the center therefor not a lot of restaurants nearby. But just 15-20 minutes to walk to the center, you can walk along the beach what we really enjoyed.
We loved our stay!
We booked with breakfast, which was too simple for us: Just a small plate of fruits for two persons, jam, toast, juice and coffee, that’s it. Eggs are available for additional cost (approx. 100 Pesos) which is very expensive. We had breakfast twice in downtown and got much more than scrambled eggs for 100 Pesos.

Casa Luz was excellent and the staff were amazing. Raquel was really helpful. She quickly addressed all of our requests. It's located right next to the beach so the location can't be beat. They also have a ping pong table and volley ball court in front which were really nice. The breakfast was a simple (fruit, toast with homemade jams, and coffee/tea) yet perfect before a day at the beach. We found that Cafe del Mar right in front of Casa Luz had excellent food (although the wait time can be in line with beach time).
We stayed in the Tucan room which seemed a little small when we first stepped in but in the end it was perfect for sleeping, napping and getting ready. We were there to be on the beach and head to restaurants in the evening so the room size was fine for us in the end.

Nice beach home with near beach front and great grounds! It felt like we had the home to ourselves With staff!
Upon arrival, there were some questionable recommendations for restaurants on the island. We weren't really shown our rooms, just had to "find" them. I really wanted to explore, but was denied the use of the Kayak/SUP (even for a fee?) while other guests allowed to use them. I am an avid Kayaker, so this was a disappointment. We were offered tours but never came through. At night, we had to walk to town even though we were tired, because the receptionist/hostess was unable to call us a taxi.
Location is hard to get to due to big sinkholes filled with mud and water in the roads. In hindsight, we would have stayed in the hotel zone where access and transportation is more comfortable and there is more hip of a scene. The mattresses are more like futons than actual mattresses. The breakfast is very meager. Toasted pan bimbo (white wonderbread) and two small fruit plates to share between 5 people. That's it. When we asked for eggs it was extra$$ but she only told us later and no salt/salsa or accompaniments. Very poor.. We were hoping for a Mexican breakfast but got barely enough to call a meal. It seemed so out of place to have a poor person's meal in such a nice beachthouse. I would have thought that we would be offered better foodl, like we are accustomed to eating. The coffee iwas good. But not available until after 9am.
A Masseuse was called by staff to do massages in-house. My masseuse sucked and would not do what I asked.
So all and all, it was just an ok stay in a nice little place that with some adjustments by staff could have been great!

The room was spacious & nicely decorated. The contact person was very nice, helpful & communicative, she was a pleasure to deal with.
The location did not have its own beach - a beachfront cafe blocked the ocean view. The hot water in the shower ran out within 5 minutes. The room was cleaned several times during our stay, but there were some areas that had a musty smell coming through. Since the house is set back from the beach, it was a bit difficult to find (could use better signage). Hopefully under new management, some of these issues can be addressed.

very quiet, lovely room
a little far from the center for a single traveller - a little worried about getting home at night and the taxis were selective about going out through the puddles ☹️

Great location, away from parties so you could actually sleep (dont stay in downtown!!). One block from beach, very nice view
TL;DR : no customer service, animal (rat?) living in the bathroom, uncomfortable bed, good location, horrible service.
Long version:
I cannot stress this enough: do NOT expect ANY customer service here. We got to the hotel and although we confirmed 3 times our arrival time there was no one there to greet us. Without the help of another guest, who had the wifi code we would have not been able to contact anyone. And this did not just happen to us, as we were also approached by a helpless guest who was trying to check in and was waiting for 40 minutes without being able to contact them.
Worst of all, the electricity and water stopped working the last night that we were there (not on the whole island, just at the hotel. the nearby hotels had lights on and everything), and despite initially answering the phone and telling us that they will send someone over we did not hear back from them (despite calling repetitively and sending messages) until the next morning. Do note that the mariposa room is incredibly hot and stuffy and was unbearable to be in without aircon. Oh, and the mattress in that room is very soft. One of us slept a couple of nights on the sofa as it was more comfortable.
To top it all off, there was some kind of animal living in the bathroom as we found droppings every morning there, and claw/chew marks on our soap.
The outside mattresses on the deckchairs are dirty and moulding, no one cleaned them in the whole 4 days that we stayed. This was definitely overpriced.
Apart from that, everything was fine, the room is cleaned daily. And the location is good. Maybe the neighbouring hotels (and there are many) have better customer service, because worst they cannot be.

The beach is walking distance but that’s the only nice thing about this place.
The island didn’t have water during our stay, which we understand because there was a storm. However, some hotels on the island DID have water. The property did not notify us that the property didn’t have water until we had taken 2 taxis, a ferry, and the whole walk to the property. They told us the water would be back on that evening, and that all the hotels were out of water. Neither statement was true. They even said if we cancelled they would charge us and we couldn’t get a refund! We had to sleep in their barely comfortably bed with sand all over us and sweat from a long day without a shower and weren’t able to flush the toilet. We understand that they were out of water but they should have helped us be able to move to a hotel that did. We did move to another hotel and they allowed us a refund for the night we didn’t stay there only after having to contact booking.com. We had to pay for a taxi to meet them at a random shop to get our refund because they wouldn’t meet us at our room. They wasted so much time of our trip. They also make you pay in pesos even if you reserve with card which took more time out of our trip. Additionally, the outside part of the property wasn’t clean enough to enjoy. The customer service was awful when speaking to them about any of this as well.

Location, garden/private palapas and hammocks.
Unfortunately on some days the neighbors had long loud parties. Luckily not our whole stay

Our room "Toucan" was nice with a beautiful view from the outdoor patio. Patio is well equipped with a hammocks, lounging beds and suspended beach beds. Hotel is beachfront. Clean beach with small eatery. Overall, great stay without any noisy neighbors as we had the whole place to ourselves.
We arrived a little earlier than the noted check in but after arriving on property there was nobody on site. I do mean NOBODY. We had the whole facility to ourselves. Communicating with the host was difficult being that the number listed on Booking.com is incorrect. There is a small cafe near the hotel with good coffee. We had breakfast and the owner was able to contact the host for us and helped us get our room key.

Amazing location very close to a peaceful beach and to a simple but very nice restaurant (café del mar). The room is quite small with no desk or TV but it is comfortable and quiet. The view is great!
The Wifi / internet is really not working well on the island. The property was rated higher than any in Holbox on Booking in terms of "Free wifi" but the connectivity was actually very poor and worse than many other places

Privacy, location and beds, we’re amazing
The service of the staff, no body was in the property for more than one day and there was no phone numbers to contact.

I love the place very much. Very quiet, clean and away from the crowd. Hamacks around the front area to relax under the shade and palm tree. Olga the administrator was very pleasant.

The complete house was empty and we were the only guests there. Therefore we lived like kings with our own terrace and garden. But this has a reason...
...the reason is, that you HAVE to pay cash. Have not experienced this anywhere else in Mexico on this price level per night.
Be warned for this! On Holbox are often ALL ATMs empty over the weekend!!
7.5 / 10.0
It’s a bit off the beaten track what we really liked because you could sleep to the sound of the ocean without the sometimes noisy village nearby.
The casa is located directly at the beach - 2 min walk.
The floor was sandy when we arrived and due to the construction of the house there was enough room for small animals to sneak in. Jungle feeling. ;)
