We really enjoyed staying at Villas del Carmen. The accomodation is not right in the centre of Holbox, but we could rent bicycles at the hotel and went everywhere with them (either the centre, of one of the closer beaches up north the island). You can also easily go to the centre on foot.
The room was nice and spacious enough for three adults, the pool area was pleasant to relax after the day, the hotel was calm so we could sleep well.
Little space to put your personal items in the bathroom.

This hotel is a litttle Gem. The pool is beautiful the hotel is family run and close to the restaurants and beach. It’s a nice walk or short taxi into the main town but nice to be away from the crowds too
Leaving 😂

Quiet place outside the main part of the island but very close to beach.
The accommodation was nice, quiet and clean. Owner also very nice and all staff friendly.
Good value for money

it’s far from the center, this is something to be aware of.

Is hidden so for a couple wanting privacy and no noise and disconnect is great. However for a family might not be the best as downtown is 20 Min walking
Suggested property to arrange golf cart rentals because of the hotel distance

Nice and clean room, hammock in the room - very cozy
Wifi was working in the room (ground floor, we were told it works only in lobby ;) )
Beautiful garden with a pool
Restaurant that serves decent food (breakfast, lunch oraz dinner)
Some people may not like the location - to be honest, I take it as advantage. But after rainy days it might be hard to get there (and it is the problem of all hotels outside main island road)
Water in bathrom can be cold - sometimes, but also it could be a problem of whole island

Lovely hotel managed by a family. Rooms are big, clean and with all you need.
It is far from the Center and it is difficult to do it by foot, they offer a taxi service really affordable which is great.
Once again, every single one of them are lovely!
Wifi does not work really well but I think it is a problem in all the island, quite logic!

shower didn’t work

The air conditioner worked good. Pool was nice, and deep. The staff helped us to get a cheap ride to the ferry, they also changed our room after one night due to a problem with the toilet.
The bathroom installation is bad made, the water ran out of the sink, the shower head had almost no water flow, the towels and blankets had stains, ants were coming in from the bathroom window. All the metal hardware was rusty. Overall bad maintenance.

Very comfortable room on the 1st floor. The communal space downstairs was nice, we didn't use it that much. Ate breakfast in the restaurant once and it was good. Pool was well maintained, we didn't use it though. Staff were helpful especially the owner who speaks English. We had thought that we had a bit of space to sit outside our room but it's a walkway really not a balcony however, you can sit downstairs. We had a fridge which is a bonus + lots of hot water in the shower. The owner gave us a lift into town for 100 pesos which was helpful as there are no taxis around there. It's good value for money for the island.
Location - it is possible to walk into town but it's a bit of a schlepp! It's a dusty walk but this is the same on the whole of the island. Takes around 15 mins. Don't trust Google Maps as it doesn't take you there! You need to follow the main road called Damero and this takes you to the turning which is signposted. It would be difficult to navigate on foot if it had rained. There are no shops etc. nearby which may not suit some people. On the other hand, you can walk to Punta Coco easily from here which is beautiful and less developed than the main beach (although we noticed a lot of building work going on so I'm sure it will catch up with the rest of the island over the next couple of years!)
Bathroom - the toilet flush is not very powerful and you have to do it a few times! Unfortunately the shower tray is very shallow so you end up with water everywhere which is slippy so you need to take care!
WiFi doesn't work in the room but I would thoroughly recommend getting a Mexican SIM card if you need access to the internet all the time. You can buy one on the island.

nice people, pool
terrible wifi that only works sometimes and only around the pool. Also Manuel one of the employees was suppose to pick us up at 6 am to bring us back to the ferry but never showed, so we had to walk 3km and missed our ferry.

Room was nice and clean. Around 5min walk to a nice and quiet beach.
A 15min walk to the center. Walk itself is fine, but there is no lights on the roads so a bit uncomfortable.

WiFi dont works good.

Nice garden and pool
The family did a party one night until 1 AM, and didn't stop although we asked to, twice. Just rude. It's far from the center, and you need to walk in the mud or pay for a taxi.

It says NOTHING on their page here on booking.com that they charge for payment on site. We thought we had already paid by card online. It caused issues for the people i booked the room for!
This should be mentioned on the site!

not much
We could not pay by card because the card reader was not working so they wanted the money cash, so you have to go to the center and get some cash. if you walk you need minimum 20 minutes.
The staff speaks not one word in English, it’s super far from the town center. They were not very friendly. The internet connection is super bad. The water pressure was super bad.

The pool area was lovely to relax and enjoy some peace.
The location was not ideal. At the end of a dirt track which u can not realistically walk down as it is full of puddles and not lit at night. If you stay here the only way to get to the centre is taxi or bike or long walk on the beach. The rooms didn't have WiFi. If you don't speak Spanish I would recommend learning as the staff don't speak any english

-staff quite friendly
-noisy at times including at night
-quite bright outside the room at night
-back of room looked over utility type room which was odd and loud
-stains on sheets, towels and wall
-shower temperature didn’t get very hot
-at times the pool area was ‘full’
-TV didn’t work
-strange beetle in room

I liked that it was really quiet because it was outside the main town area. The owners are very kind and they serve food and drinks throughout the day. Also, the pool is amazing and there is a super cute and friendly dog to hangout with. It is really close to the quiet beach (maybe like 5 minutes), but about a 20 minute walk to the town. I recommend walking to the town vía the beach because the roads on the island were flooded. Overall, this is a great place to stay.
P.S. DO NOT try to walk to the hotel from the ferry with your suitcase! The roads are dirt and if it recently rained it will turn into mud and get stuck in the wheels. It won't be more than 300 pesos for the taxi. It is NOT worth it to walk through puddles that can go past your knees!! Also, the owners are so nice and will taxi you to town when you want a lift.
