"Exceptional tree house experience at La Pentera resort! The tree houses are well-designed and provide the best experience I've ever had. The food is delicious, and the proximity to the lake enhances the overall charm. The genuine hospitality of the people adds a special touch to the stay."

Wonderful tree houses . Best food . Excellent service

It was a beautiful location with lots of wildlife and the hosts cooked great food. The canoe ride in the close by lake was a great experience
Very overpriced for what you get. The rooms were lovely but not worth the price. We discovered afterwards that you must ask for tours by WhatsApp not with the hosts at the location. We tried with the hosts but their limited English made it very hard to organise tours, and we ended up missing out on doing activities as they did not know what we were asking for. Communication between the manager was very bad, as we tried to check out they told us our bill was double the price it should have been, so I had to call and tell them it was wrong and get it fixed. Overall the experience there was lovely but very very overpriced for what you get.

I really like this place. This is gateway to 3 national parks in Sri Lanka. They are near to nice lake where I took canoe ride. Wonderful tree house that I ever stayed. Highly recommend this place.

If you are nature lover, visit there. They have nice tree houses align with nature. Don't forget to take canoe ride. You can see lot of elephants in the lake. Recently renovated after covid.

The only positive things were the location, right in with the surunding nature (and also in your room you get animals like mice), and the caretaker Tushara, even if his english is very bad but a lovely guy and a good cheff.
I gues it takes some time after covid and the crisis to build it up like it used to be but then the Managements advert and price should be modyfied. Right now its a cheat
The Safari they areanged us was very good.
Where to start... the Management is not on site, so you need a Phone. They insist on a payment straight when you arrive, and as soon as you unpacked your stuff in your room you realize why... . The price they wanted was not what was given on booking, even if the dollar-rupee exchange rate was not the same as on the day of booking. Check the actual rate, because in my case there was a difference of 500rupees from what they wanted and what the official rate was that day of arrival..
In Our booking were features mentioned, that were neither in the room/available nor fully working: whirlpool function, sofa/couch easily brakes, moscito net (many holes), Television (nearly falling from the wall), cable channel/ satelite channel, care products, Bidet, shampoo, showergel, shower doors not closing, shower water not running off, bedblankets with holes, hot water not working, stairs to your treehouse very frightning.
After I send the Management my list of complains they the employee forwarded my Suggestion of free food to his Manager, and all they relied was: "Management replied me in regarding the matters you presenting. As they checked with the hotel, some sort of matters are correct as you said. Therefore, they approved today's lunch on free of charge basis." What a joke.
At dinner I confirmed with the onsite caretaker a canoe-trip for the next morning. When we knocked at his door the next morning at 6am. he had to Tell us, he could not reach the guide...thanks for norhing

Location is peaceful near a small village and the huge Hambegamuwa lake. takes 45 minutes to reach the Udawalawe sanctuary.
There was no hot water and water is coooold. The property is overgrown with plants. Lots n lots of mosquitoes but no repellent unless you ask for it. The owner is not very concerned about the property as he has a single caretaker who cannot communicate in English. Caretaker is a nice man but can only do so much. Food is a problem. And then there are power cuts during which a kerosene lamp is provided making the room smell so you have to keep it outside. And the lamp fumes cause your eyes to smart too. Totally not worth the price… way too overpriced.

The structure of the treehouse, beds, bathroom, food, and the staff member who served us was good and helpful. He tried his level best to make the stay pleasant. Good infrastructure. The garden is beautiful in a rugged manner.
The management staff was not present at the premises and was not willing to talk to me over the phone regardless of repeated requests. The only contact was a WhatsApp message when I requested the detailed bill. Some facilities mentioned in the booking package such as the discount for meals were not given.

The silence; the staff and the manager were very helpful and tried to make their best for our comfort. They organized safary in the national park 1/4 of the price of the tour companies. The matress was amazing.
The photos of the complex doesn't reflex the actual state - it looks bit neglected, the tree house was missing a step from the stairs; inside the net around the branches was missing too and at the night a mouse visited us, it was really horrible because we couldn't sleep. The Spa doesn't work. The food they serve is not what you expect from a place like this. Also, it is written that they are 10 km from the national park, but it has to be clarified that it is 50 km from the park entrance.

This place is quite an adventure! We decided against the Safari Tour because we didn't want to be part of the chase for wildlife with 20 other cars. We participated in the Canoe tour and saw 7 Elephants swimming and bathing in the lake! It was absolutely awesome. The treehouses are nice and quite comfortable. The food is delicious as well.
Be prepared to share your treehouse with frogs and cockroaches and make sure to store all your food (and tea!) in the fridge. We woke up to a squirrel munching on our tea and rummaging through our stuff. The treehouses are very hot without air condition - if you need more comfort better opt for the air con houses. The waiters are really nice and attentive - some of the staff and the boss however are very cocky and try to sell their Safari and tours at every possible occasion - even after we said no. Make sure to check your bill at the end! Ours was incorrect and we were almost charged for extra drinks which we never consumed!
