Near the Thames path. Near restaurants and shops. Just on a main road. It was clean and nice. But the prices was just in line with that.
On a main road so you hear cars and sirens going by. Above a pub and the smokers smoke right below the window. Revelers were still out there at 3 am.

Breakfast fine but it was at extra cost. Room comfortable but didn't like heavy furniture.
Very expensive for what it was.

it was near to where we was going to
A dead fly on the windowsill in our bedroom,
windowsill in the main bar had a dead fly on it and it looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned for a while because there was lots of dust on it.
Was told that if you hadn’t booked your room direct with the hotel then a full English was £17.50 pp although there website says £15.00 pp
Lighting in the bathroom was very dull, could have done with a extra light in it.

I had a garden facing room which was an absolute delight, hearing the bird song and complete tranquility was wonderful.

The quirkiness with the elephant statues and Maharajah pictures. Extremely comfortable bed. Very spacious room leading onto dog friendly garden.

Very nice and helpful reception staff, tasty breakfast and nice dinner when we finally got it.
Dinner for a group of 6 of us finally arrived an hour and a half after our order because we had been forgotten. The restaurant was full so we were given a table in the bar. The only way we
got our meals was by alerting the restaurant that our meals hadn’t arrived. They were quite shocked we were still sitting waiting and it was clear they had forgotten our order, asking again what we had ordered. Then the barman criticised us for not telling him rather than telling the restaurant. Finally he compensated us with a single bottle of cheap Merlot wine for which we argued was a poor reward for our wait, but he was quite impolite and refused any further compensation.
Our room certainly wasn’t anything special, much in need of decorating, the furniture was old and scratched and the lighting was poor. The WIFI login was quite complex and repeatedly gave false error messages and then it failed to work on two of our devices.
The car park is very small although, unlike our companions were were lucky to get the last parking space.

Bed was comfortable
It was a lot of money for what was essentially a bed and breakfast. We were locked out of the hotel twice, once at 8.30 in the evening. The bar was only open until 9 and on xmas day not at all in the evening and considering it was xmas there were no other options to go anywhere. If you consider yourself to be a hotel I would expect some services to be available for guests. Boxingday we arrived back at the hotel at 8.50, lights on in the bar but were refused a drink.

location
The location was great but on checking in at 9pm the bar staff gave us our key but provided little information on breakfast time, no welcome to the hotel, probably would of got a better greeting at a youth hostel…. Overall the customer service was poor, especially at Christmas, I think all the best staff where on holiday and there was no manager on site.
The whole hotel needs refurbishment, painting.
The breakfast room would benefit from the blinds being opened.
it wasn’t a luxury stay away like we had hoped, it was just a room for the 4 nights. but due to a party in one of the rooms till 4 am on Christmas Day of which the staff didn’t acknowledge that we checked out a day early. Very disappointing / will not be recommending to anyone.

Room was not clean and a shortage of towels. Only one bath towel and one hand towel in a room for 2. Public areas all need a kick of paint and carpets stained.

Everything we needed for a comfortable overnight stay was provided. The location in the centre of town was convenient. We enjoyed having access to a town trail walk right from the door. Restaurants in town are very close by.
Although the town location had clear benefits, our room was right next to a busy roundabout so it was not particularly peaceful. Luckily the traffic was light during the night and as we are early risers, it was not a problem in the morning. It may be more of an issue for some.

Great stay over the Christmas holidays to meet up with family and friends who live in Reading/Pangbourne/Tilehurst area. Very friendly staff and we enjpyed a really good meal in the restaurant on our first night. It was lovely to have a change of scenery after all this Covidness. A very happy famil stay - thank you
On the first night the bar closed at 10.30.

All the staff we came across were polite, professional and courteous.
Breakfast was disappointing. Although the food was cooked well it was served onto cold plates. Also the cost was high for the size of the serving.

Location, decor / theme of the hotel, the shower was really powerful, which was great and the room was very clean.
Different room from oct 21 stay, but still the net curtains on both windows were ripped and poorly repaired. Top of hot water tap on bathroom basin missing. Told receptionist on check out she said sorry and she would pass on comments… Service from everyone was ok. Breakfast man was polite.
Once checked in, I advised the Receptionist (different one) I needed hypoallergenic bedding, which was done, but I was advised at the time they might not have any and I should’ve told them before arriving (fair enough, but I just forgot!).
